To those wondering how to achieve this, select your hair, go to the Parameters tab and under Line Tesselation, the Viewport Line Tesselation Sides is the specific value you want to change. If for whatever reason you don't see the hair at all, there's also a setting in Simulation called Preview PR Hairs, which should be set to on. Enjoy!
Allo
I am usindg DAZStudio for many yers but never did some toons
What news products for Gen 9 must i have for beginning to do toons ? I have
Where can i find Filatoon shaders
?
I am using 4,23 version and i i have gen 9 toon i my products library
You need to update Default Resources.
I'm liking the FilaToon thing, but now suddenly, I'm unable to render in Iray. I'm using all the same settings as before, but it won't even start rendering, it just goes to the save option with a blank image.
Did you remember to change the Render Engine (on the Render Settings Pane) back to NVIDIA Iray (MDL)?
Absolutely. I went back to some scenes that I've rendered before, and changed it to the Iray settings, and even those won't render.
I haven't had that problem. Try closing DS and restarting it. Maybe reboot your computer. I don't know what else to recommend.
Six Genesis 9 characters and counting. In iray I can barely render 2 Genesis 9 characters on GPU.
Thanks but i am searching in DIM and not find Daz Default Resources
Online with DIM, you can find it in Ready to Download tab, by filtering with Default. Also tick Display Hidden, just in case you've ever had it hidden.
Ok i have reinstalled DAZ Studio 4,23 and i have now Daz defaut ressources reinsatlled when i load base genesis gen9 toon BUT still no Filatoon in my shaders presets or in the shaders folders Sorry about that but where can i find Filatoon shaders
I hesitate to buy some toon products if these basic are not there
Thank you so very much Mada, that is lovely. Is there a light that you could recommend that works good with filament renders?
Can you find these in below screenshot ?
This is very handy release. I can see how it can be used for rendering only the characters, then drawing the rest of the scene on top.
It'd need to be rendered with perspective grid underlays, though.
Hey, this release makes me want to use Genesis 9 for once. I consider that a success.
Be back soon after I'm done putting Pixie 9 in power armor.
I can easily replicate my favorite PWToon preset styles.
This is winner-winner chicken dinner in my book.
Not working for me. Tried to apply the material and this is what's in the log.

Yes but only when i call a search for Filatoon but i dont know where it is in my library See file attachement
And i don't have product menu beside file menu and nowhere in the top menu
For a long time I kept making PWToon renders, even long after I had switched hard to Iray.
FilaToon is the absolute final nail. Works waaaaaaaaaaaay better.
No... not in that way, as what I showed you in the above SS, go to Smart Content pane, filter by Default, then click in ~~
First thanks for your help
Second see in these scren shots what i found now
Oups sorry there are here
Agreed. PWToon was the last reason I ever held onto 3DL.
Testing filatoon using a Sakura 8 character I've been working on. Postwork in GIMP.
Just having a play around with some of FilaToon's features. When I noticed the LUT textures my mind immediately went to Team Fortress 2, which used similar "light warp" textures to achieve it's style of cel-shading. Low and behold, the light warp texture from TF2 works in FilaToon.
Light warp texture from here: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/$lightwarptexture
That looks good :D
Very nice :)
Love seeing all the renders, and hearing tips from users. Thank you :)
There is one aspect of FilaToon that I find disappointing. It seems the MatCaps completely remove all standard shading/shadows when used (at least when used at full strength). If you set one of the blending modes to something other than MatCap or Base (such as Multiply), it'll only multiply over the base colour/texture without any of the shadows.
I was hoping MatCaps would be able to enhance the existing shading there rather than replace it entirely. Seems the only way to use both is to have the MatCap set to a lower strength, which isn't really good for what I want to do.
I regretted never buying PWToon, especially with many nice freebie addons released. And, thinking to get back into serious anime-style rendering, I grabbed LineRender9000 not long ago when in was on sale... and filatoon is released. I'm both elated for the new shaders and kicking myself for purchasing a product (LineRender9000) I'm probably going to retire soon. I'd pay for the anime shapes if they were made available on G8. I might try some of the character transfer tutorials I've found, but stylized shapes have me worried about distortions in nose and eye morphs.
Wonderful releases, Daz3D. Thanks to eveyone involved in their creation and for the many tips this thread has provided.
Cool you can use https://www.daz3d.com/glass-for-filament, you can even add an outline,
