Once Richard was back home, he found an intriguing note waiting for him:

Mr. Haseltine, word of your noteworthy accomplishment has reached me here in the Palace.
I would love to discuss this "Daz" thing with you over tea. Perhaps you can explain to me how one
"posts" in a "forum". Does this involve horseback riding? Must one travel to Rome? See you soon.

You do realise that impersonating a Royal personage is punishable by thirty days in the deepest darkest smelliest dungeon in the Tower of London, where the rats are the size of Shetland ponies?

Richard: Oh, boy! Tea with the King! We can compare crowns. His Mum, the Queen, liked dogs, but evidently he likes cats. I bet he'll give me a tour of the Palace. Jack is going to be so jealous. The King (maybe I will be invited to call him Charles) seems to be a bit out of touch with modern online activity. I'll have to explain it all to him. Maybe I can sign him up for Premier.

Uh oh! I was not aware. Richard will protect me and use his "Richard's Robotic Rodent Remover" to clear up that dungeon. I'm sure I'll be safe. Besides, I can probably just fly out of there, if it comes to that. But thanks for the warning!

That looks like a case of "Your majesty, you are spoiling us"

if that set of ads didn't run in the US (you have all the luck).

I beleive that the Rodents of Unusual Size are at Elstree this week, for work on Princess Bride II.

    That is a relief.
And we do (or did in the past) have Ferrero Rocher® here. I have even seen a commercial similar, if not identical, to the one you linked. It came up often at Christmas time. I thought that pile of treats looked familiar when I added it to the scene, but it didn't trigger a specific memory. You nailed it!

I admit that I have often had occasion to feel peeved when a post of mine has been removed or when the TOS has been followed to the letter... and I might add that I've always thought of Richard as too much of an apologist for DAZ. However, I doubt that I would be here posting this now had it not been for all his help in showing me where I've been going wrong and making mistakes (or just being plain dumb). I think I might have given up years ago.

BTW, I'm half convinced that Richard is actually a composite character - how could one person be there constantly year after year? 100,000 posts - I mean, how??

I have appreciated your moderating voice; it has been especially helpful for us minority customers.  The Daz3d world is both withspread and a monoculture and your intervention when things became "impolite" has kept many a customer from leaving.

100,000 posts -  that's a lot of work. In 20 years, that would be more than 13 posts per day - without a day off. Oh man. Congratulations!

Congratulations Richard and may our head butting continue for another 100k and you provide me with excellant help when my memory decides to take a holiday. How many time have I asked you how to remove that highlight every time I mouse over something in a scene lol

It turned out that King Charles was a quick study, and who better to instruct him than Richard. In no time, the King had his Daz account set up and was gleefully shopping and rendering away. He even posted a few messages in the forum and was quite proud to show off his new skills. It turns out that state of the art NVIDIA server setup in the palace basement was a great rendering platform. While the King was fully absorbed by Daz3D, Richard noticed an intriguing conversation wafting out of a room down the hall...
    ?: Wheee!!!!
??:Get down from there this minute! What would Mum say if she saw you swinging up there?
Richard crept down the hall on silent cat feet, to see what was going on. His diligent attempt to behave himself in the palace was thrown to the wind the instant he peeked in the door.
    Richard: Let's Play!!

Congrats Richard, you are the glue that holds these forums together! I don't know how you manage it, I would have given up about 99,000 posts ago. smiley

And thanks Barbult for all the adorable renderings, great work. yes

  • Congratulations Richard! 100000 posts in the DAZ universe is an unthinkable feat, and all made in such a patient, steadfast way to aid and moderate us mad DAZ-zers! heart

I must confess however that too much of what I know of your exploits come from Barbult's renders of homage...

barbult, for those among us that might be missing out on some of these visuals of Richard's exploits, I hope you consider setting up a thread in the Commons or Art Studio, pulling them all together for posterity. Thank you for your amazing work in creating and maintaining these historical records, and keeping us entertained. laugh (And wow, you're coming ever closer to 25000 posts yourself?!)

At least I can honestly say I didn't start it. And also feel releived at the (temporary) absence of ROUS at the Tower, as I fear they might have had issues with me.

Was there ever a day when Richard didn't post a single thing?

Good question. There must be SOME time when he took a day off. Maybe he was in the veterinary hospital or something. (Though I hope not!). We'd really be worried if we didn't see posts from Richard for even one day.

No, in the 13 yrs I've been a mod he has not taken a day off that I can remember. He has taken half days off but because of doctors appointments, not actually for rest. He has been scolded many times over the yrs from our in house mother (Ann) and the team but he won't budge.

I hope this isn't where the headsman slips in by the side door.

SIR Richard! Obviously he didn't get caught in the chandelier caper. Or maybe that person peeking through the keyhole in the side door indicates that he WAS caught. That would be too traumatic to render and would certainly lead to a TOS violation.

Yes, I have often thought I should put all those renders together some place. Even I can't find most of them now. They are scattered about in many different threads. Lots are in the Daz+ only forum, because they were part of contests or other topics there. That means than some customers can't see them, even if I were to link to them.  I need to gather not only my renders, but all the text of the ongoing stories, and some of the responses from Richard and other users, like you, that inspired the next render in the series. It will be a big job. I'm leaving on a trip soon, so I will be away from my computer for a few weeks. All this will have to wait.

I'm pleased that so many people have commented that they enjoy the renders of Richard's exploits. smiley What a life he lives! (At least in my imagination.)

Oh well, I was expecting the forum post count for Richard to perform a numeric overflow causing the collapse of the space-time continuum and for Schrodinger's cat to wander out to reboot the universe. Or maybe i blinked and missed it?
