    Well, for me, the Storepocalypse of 2020 during which I was locked out of my account for ten days, and then several of my multi-hundred dollar purchases were voided, left me a tad miffed. The crippled store search that was served up at the changeover was frustrating. The Daz Pass, or whatever it was called, also soured things a bit. NFT & AI seem to have been final straws for some people.

    I am one who still "rolls their own" when it comes to developing characters..  About the only character models I still use "out of the box" are those like AIko3 and Sadie along with "unique" ones such as those by RawArt and Oso3D. .My requirement for  purchasing any new character model is that it has to add something unique or different that I can use in the process of character development.  For example my "star character", Leela, is a mix of over a half dozen different characters from three different Genesis generations.

    I also tend to be more big on morphing, shaping, conversion, and various merchant resource content that add more options and variety. 

    The same goes for kitbashing (the Geometry Editor is an incredibly useful tool for this). 

    This has all been driven by having to work on pretty much a shoestring budget (particularly these days as I am retired on a fixed pension)..which demands resourcefulness and patience.

    Yes, it does take more planning  time, and effort, but in the end, the final results are always worth it

    The mods do a great job and keep this place from becoming like so many other forums - full of hate, vitriol, and filled with just the downright nastiness that so many other forums have devolved into. The mods keep the discourse civil, which is more than can be said for many, if not most, forums and online communities these days. I may not agree with all of their decisions, but I am very grateful for the work they do. In this day and age, with so much division and hate, theirs is not an easy task.

    I think there would be much less of the complaints about DAZ and its products if there were some proper way to get an answer or a resolution to a problem. But if there is no documentation or if a support ticket goes three years unresolved then all that is left is the forums. And interfering with the only remaining means to discuss the issue is certainly contributing the our potentially ruined atmosphere, regardless of the intentions.

  • i think as Daz customers we can understand why people get upset and why the forums need heavy moderation... it's a necessary evil.

    I think @DustRider has a great post.  See that.  For what it is worth, here is my personal experience.

    My use of 3D stuff as a hobby goes back to the Millenium man and Millenium woman, Victoria and Michael 1, when they were used in Poser.  But I did not use it very much at first.  I became a frequent forum participant during 2011-2022.  My participation has dropped off a lot.  I have always found the forums to be a great resource for getting peer-to-peer help.  This was so important because documentation for the programs owned by Daz3D was often either out of date, or non-existent.  And in return I tried to share my experiences, and answer questions if possible. 

    Administration of the forum, and role of Mods.  On the whole, the mods have been fine.  I thank them for their dedication, and for putting up with people like me.  I have certainly had plenty of my posts deleted and threads locked.  And I have been frustrated occasionally when my response to a post got deleted but the post that triggered me did not (perhaps it was misleading in my view).  If I was in charge, I would have done it differently.  But just as often, when I look in hindsight, I agree with the mods and would have deleted my post also.  That is life.  It is OK.  Thank you, mods.

    Reasons for my diminished participation in the forums.  My participation in the forums has diminished as I have migrated (gradually) away from Daz3D programs.  Around 2012 or so, Daz3D made the choice to direct its resources to Daz Studio, a model manipulator and renderer, instead of Carrara, a full service 3D program.  Yes, I made the effort to learn Daz Studio because Iray was a superior renderer for stills.  This was 2016-2020, or so.  But as I predicted, sending me to Blender and other programs to get the functionality of Carrara would ultimately result in my using Blender for some of the functionality of Daz Studio.  So I use Daz Studio (and Carrara) as a step in a workflow that is now primarily in some other program, sometimes but not always Blender. But I still use all the tools in my toolbox, even the older ones, if they will accomplish my task.  I still check in the forums to get help, or give help, but far less frequently.

    Forum tone.  I have always been thankful for the participants in the forums.  Special shout out to Wendy.  The peer-to-peer help has always been so generous.  The quality of help is attested to by the number of forum participants who became PAs. Simply amazing.  I have no problem with the overall tone.

    Lot's of decisions have been made during the past 2 years, that I just don't like.
    I'm for sure, not a happy user anymore.
    It feels like heading for a divorce, but you cannot affort paying a life on your own.

    a closed atmosphere isn't a bad thing as holes in the ozone layer let in solar radiation as well as warming the Earth, those rays can cause cancer, mutations etc 

    the plankton in the oceans could become self aware and start sharing electrolytes manifesting into a liquid brain, or just die and stop oxygenating  the CO2 we and other creatures keep breathing out

  • I understand that the Montreal Protocol has led to a situation where the Ozone hole is closing as predicted with almost complete closure of the Ozone hole suggested by the middle of the century. An example where multinational environmental efforts seem to have worked.     Then it is DAZ as well that is not the same.  Why they deleting any sort of comment about what they are doing with memberships?  Why they deleting any sort of comment asking about Gen 9 to Gen 8 Morph Conversion?  I think you know why... Answer: DAZ is not the DAZ of old...

    Aside from long threads on the memberships, long threads on Genesis 9, and at least one long thread on methods for morph conversion you are of course somewhat correct.

    I'm not sure if DAZ owners/staff ever actually check these forums (they say they don't) but I really think they should. I think they should know the uncensored opinions of their customers. If a forum member insults another forum member, of course that should be removed but when customers are expressing their sincere opinions about a store they have invested thousands of dollars in over the years, I really think the powers that be should listen. So far the things customers complained about the most have disappeared like the season pass, priority of NFTs and more. Personally I think there should be more surveys and market research done on existing customers before introducing a new feature like Premier or season pass. I think a problem here is that customers get the feeling that Daz doesn't care about its customers and that's what leads to a lot of negativity. If they had a marketing staff member join the forums maybe in a specific thread where customers could air their grievances that would make customers feel more heard and less angry.

    I Think if they do this then they will need to sign said staff member up for counselling before they start the job. It would only suit a serial masochist.

    Do you enjoy being insulted, humiliated and ridiculed, all the while maintaining a positive and cheerful disposition?

    Then you might be well suited for a job like that.
