Well, I told the DIM to uninstall the Beta version about 1/2 hour ago and the busy signal is still going but nothing seems to be happening.
If you right-click on the shortcuts and select proerpties from the menu you should be able to see what each is pointing to.
Did the crash give an error dialogue, or did it just drop straight to desktop?
Why not post crash dump files for an analysis?
It crashed right to the desktop.
So, I let the DIM continue doing it's thing (uninstalling the beta) for about 3/4 hour and when I decided it was nit going to go any further I closed it. When I went back and checked the beta was no longer there.
I deleted the old icon.
DAZ continues to crash to the desktop.
I have no idea how to do that.
Another thing I cannot figure out is why, when I uninstall DAZ Studio, the DIM automatixally reinstalls it.
I can't get rid of it. It just keeps reinstalling.
When DS crashes, is there a dialog popping up saying "fatal error..." blah blah blah ? Then hit Save buttton.
Do you get a separate pop-up in front of the main DIM window when you start it?
Nope. Just crashes right back to the desktop.
Only the login window Richard.
This is what I get after telling the DIM to uninstall DS.
I just realized it says DAZ Studio 4.22 not 4.23. Don't know why.
That's what I meant by a separate pop-up - uncheck all of the application sets, uncheck Show Automatically, and click the Start Queue button (or whatever it changes into after telling it not to do anything).
I might have uploaded an old image last time. See the attached for the current one.
Richard, I see the "Show Automatically" . What do you nean by "uncheck all the application sets"?
The DIM no longer shows any installations of DAZ Studio.
Uncheck the Install options, then the Show Automatically.
Thanks for all your help Richard.
Now that DAZ Studio seems to be completely gone. Do you think it is safe for me to manually download and install DS?
If I do, will the DIM still see it and behave correctly?
I would prefer a clean install through DIM, and I would certainly use the same method for plug-ins and application whichever you do, but it is certainly worth trying.
I defer to your knowledge and experience.
Thank you Richard.
Sorry Richard, I need your help again. How do I get DS to install now? It does not show in the DIM as available and my only option from my library is to do it manually.
It isn't showing in any tab? Check your Download filters, and enable Show Hidden (both in the Ready to Download tab).
I have know idea why it was hidden. But, there it was.
Aaaaaaaaaaand DAZ Studio immeadiately crashed back to the desktop when I opened it.
This is driving me nuts. I have never had these issues with DAZ Studio before. It always worked fine until recent times.
I am trying to think if anything changed with my system at about the time this started and can't think of anything.
This started well before my new antivirus so that's not it.
I think it started back after the ladt DS update.
Is there a way I can get a copy of a previous version of DS?
You could try opening a support ticket, explaining your issue.
I believe I have three other support tickets open for other issues. The most recent from about 8 months ago. It's been so long I can't remember.
I guess the bright side is that this will save me a lot of money since there is no point in purchasing content I can't use.
The down side is I'll not be able to use all the content I have purchased since 2008 which adds up to a lot of money.
Thanks for at least trying to help me Richard. You're awesome!
Richard if you are still watching this thread, I may have found a clue to my problem - not sure.
I'll preface this by saying that because my D/ drive is larger than my C/ drive.I originally set things up so that my DAZ Studio app was installed to my C/ drive and all my content to my D/ drive
But, some Goggle searching lead me to look at my installation directories and I found one on both drives. Please see screen shots A and B.. I have no idea how I got an install to both. Perhaps this is related to my issue?
Please have a look at my setting and tell me if things look wrong to you.
Thanks.
The reason the pakage archive says D/ drive is I found an old install file on my D/ drive.
It looks as if the D: drive version is the current installation, so it may be worth renaming the C: drive folder to make sure it isn't found first for some files.
Thanks Richard. Do you think it looks as that I had a double installation and a conflict of some sort going on?
If I want to keep DS on my C/ drive and my library on the D/ drive, are the settings correct for that?
