Progress is good! Keep at it.
I don't want to be in Superman shoes and shout out loud "This is a job for Superman, Fighting for the justice"
crosswind or anyone else, I have encountered another roadblock.
This time around when I tried to fit the Santa Cap you suggested me, (this one fit well Nikolai 9) when I did the render, the image got grainy!
I don't want to uninstall Daz Studio and re-install again, or maybe reset the installation, as this will cause some setback just when I want to finish all.
Is there a better way to make the result can look good?
I leave the option to reset Daz Studio to the default as a last resort.
If talking about something is graini it would be good to include an image.
And when something is graini (assumed noise), it can be due to some reflective surfaces, but more common lack of light. How are you lightning the scene?
Yes... according to the previous trial render you posted, that was more likely the scene and/or lighting issue rather than DS per se.
And better name the scene product you're using ~~
Some culprits may result in grainy render: 1) dark scene lacking of good lighting pattern; 2) too many emissive lights and/or with bad settings; 3) too strong reflections especially with metalicity or metallic flakes settings; 4) complex lights bouncing from interior objects... yada yada ~
And did you turn on Post-Denoiser ?
felis This is how it looks the render, I have cropped it, because is a secret.
There are five characters including Santa Claus
I have workde hard, I want to get it right.
For the lighting the emission is set to 6500.00 in the Room LED, no exterrnal lights or anything else.
How many samples is that image based on?
Do you use your GPU when rendering?
I have an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3660, 12Gb RAM and 64 Gb RAM installed into the Motherboard.
Also no serious thing, just the characters, some props, environment and a backdrop.
The render time maybe around 2 and a half hours.
barbult don't tell me this kind of video card is exceptional for the task that needs to be done.
Just I want the render to look much better without being grainy.
Any ideas how I can achieve that?
crosswind This is the environment used: https://www.daz3d.com/luxury-living
I had deselected or maybe deleted some of the unwanted items just kept the more relevant and added the Christmas tree, the christmas banner, some giftboxes and a trolley.
As you can see, I had to become imaginative with my choice.
If the environment is not suitable, let me know, I will try another one that maybe gentle to the system resources.
Okay, I checked and didn't find big issue from this scene. I'm afraid you just need to give it a full render with enough samples. However, this scene plus your 4 characters highly consume VRAM, I think you might've run out of VRAM with your 3070 12GB.
The attached SS was previewed with 6500 samples, I just added one character + one spotlight there. You can see it consumed 8GB VRAM with my 4090 only (I previewed the scene with 3 cards...). So I suggest you monitor Memory usage with GPU-Z. If needed, optimize your scene with Scene Optimizer to assue the scene can be always rendered with GPU rather than CPU.
Also check Render SubD level of the characters, wearables, etc. for instace, those fluffy things on the dress may consume more VRAM with high SubD level on Displacement settings, yada yada ~
crosswind The characters wear some distinctive clothing.

The rendering is set to 4k widescreen, not the plain widescreen, if I use this the render would be quick, the quality not desirable.
I don't know if using any other preset will degrade the image quality.
crosswind I saw the product you mention ed me
https://www.daz3d.com/scene-optimizer
Quite expensive, wish this could be lower price to help me out to finish my project on time.
As I am standstill with no choice, either I will use another environment and reduce the quality, or throw the towel to save my sanity, because I am overwhelmed.
I am demoralised, I worked hard, gave my all, I find myself in a labyrinth with no way out; yet I have another project to do after that.
Those wearables seem not a big deal but still you need to check VRAM usage. That's the 1st priority thing ~~
Setting high resolution will just result in longer rendering time in terms of converging pixels... There're a few factors may downgrade final render quality, as above mentioned. Usually the lighting pattern has higher priority otherwise you'll get grainy issue like what you posted.
crosswind How about any other environment with windows I can use, just give me an idea, if can be to my reach I will do with that otherwise; I will have to thinkering with whatevever I have at hand.
I don't think that environment product has any issue. It just consumes 1GB VRAM ~
Have you checked if you ran out of VRAM ? Or simply tweaked the lighting setup and/or just simply increase value in cm^2 Factor ? (ss1)
Besides, is it really necessary to render a 4K image ? You want to print a poster or sth. ? Personally I rarely render 4K+ images though I have pretty robust cards. I hate waiting even one more minuite ~ Renders that can impress people really don't need high resolutions.
crosswind When I did some renders before these were ok.
I believe something has botched Daz Studio, that's why my drastic decision to uninstall everything and getting a fresh working program.
I did not had any grainy render before, neither the render to take forever longer.
Factoring the resolution is 3840 x 2160 px, this is 4k realm, just wanted better picture quality.
I checked Task manager, the system RAM used were about 94 - 98%
The environment LED light was set to 6500.00 (Cool Daylight) Temperature in the Suurfaces tab.
I will see what else I can do and I will let you know how it goes.
If you really suspect it like that, then try re-installing DS though I doubt it'll help. But good luck !
But that depends and case by case. You know what... I also got grainy preview / render with this scene without sufficient samples ~~
Oh, I have to say rendering with 4K doesn't really mean you will get better pic quality which'll depend...
You should've first of all checked CPU load rather than RAM usage. But yea, if you also ran out of RAM, I'm afraid it would bring you DS crash.
Tweaking settings in Tone Mapping may bring you instant improvements... Good luck my friend !
You can use GPU-Z to check how much VRAM your scene is using while rendering:
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
Another way to know if you are over 12 GB is disabling CPU Fallback (I don't remember where): if you don't have enough VRAM, the render will stop on a black picture if I remember what was said.
If you are over 12 GB and the characters are not overlaping each other (wether directly or through their shadows) you can do multiple renders and merge them in you picture editing software (Photoshop, GIMP, Affinity Photo, etc) without too much difficulty.
Regarding lightning, it feels like the camera's lamp is active in your render (if it's something you want, no reason to change).
Things are going worse than I have imagined.
I did a render with a previous saved scene, I wanted Nikolai 9 in there intead of Santa Claus G3M
I applied the clothing one by one https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-hnc24-santa-costume-outfits-for-genesis-9 to the character, some of the elements were floating
Fitted in one click the whole outfit, did a test render, I deleted the included hat prop and put in its place the hat from https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-su-christmas-suit-for-genesis-9-81-and-8-female
Now this is what I have, I believe something extrange is happening to me
Any suggestions what can I do to remedy this outrageous situation?
Check this thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/714151/dforce-hbc24-santa-suit#latest
Refer to the video that the vendor made mentioned by Catherine. Unparent those SBHs under figure's root node, Ctrl + E while having them selected. The issue will be gone.
This situation got me frustrated.
I will have a look at that post now.
In the video, the author says to select the 3 SBHs, Right Click to Unparent Selected Items.
There is a drop down menu, click on Restore, Restore Selected Items Ctrl+E
I hope this is the way to do it.
(it happens the video is mute or the sound in the PC got that) I had to do some screenshots.
I have tried to fit the whole suit with the cap, because when done individually, it causes some issues.
Now is harder to ged rid of the cap with the ball.
What I need is something to relax me now.
I am doing and redoing the things that are needed.
From one version to another, I try to get the results I need.
As you can imagine I am stressed.
Oh, no... it's very simple ! You can find 4 strand-based hairs (with icons of three pieces of hairs) under your Nicolai 9, select them and unparent them from Nicolai 9. Then press Ctrl + E. Done !
I will try, my dear friend.
