I haven't really been in DS that much the last few weeks as I've been writing like mad. However, I did manage to set a little something up with Kirie for Sakura 8 which I picked up recently. I really like how she turned out.

@Knittingmommy - I like her a lot. She reminds me of something, but I can't put my finger on it. I'm sorry I missed your birthday, so happy belated one! Also, I really like the work you've done with tattoos. You've got some amazing stuff in here.

  • KnittingmommyKnittingmommy Posts: 8,191

@Wanderer Thanks! I love rendering characters with tattoos. One of my favorite things is doing nudes that really highlight full body tattoos. I really need to do some more. I don't have many posted but if you're interested in those, you can find them on my DeviantArt page. Just click on the link in my signature. I have a folder called Nudes and I have a couple of my absolute favorites with tattoos posted in there.

Kirie is very dramatic, love the cobweb!

She's coming out of the dark, right at you.  She's a mutant of some sort, not really human.  There's a doll quality about her, punk and a little creepy.  The fingers and expression show that she's just on the verge of something...

@Novica So do I! Love when vendors get creative with the makeup. :) It's one of my favorite things to showcase in an image.

    @dracorn Oh, that's good! I like it. :)

Thanks, I think so, too. I didn't get the Sakura 8 bundle but I really, REALLY liked the looks of Kirie and had to get her so I got the Sakura 8 base figure. The price wasn't too bad once I used my coupon on her. I have no regrets getting her and I'll be rendering her again.

Thanks for the comments everyone! :)

I guess while I was busy with stuff, my thread got buried on page 3! lol. I have a lot to catch up on. I'm in the middle of Camp NaNoWriMo for anyone wonder what happened to me. Last month I was monitoring the New Users Challenge. There are lots of great new users doing some stuff I wasn't even doing when I was that new. I love how DS has become more accessible and easier to use since Iray was built into the program.

I have to admit to having spent some money during the MM sale even though I haven't been rendering stuff much. I've done some product testing and pretty much staying busy. I thought I'd share a cute render I was able to do with the new Baby Packy. I think he's adorable!

He was rendered in Iray. Post was done in different layers in Gimp, then in Filter Forge 5, then back in Gimp, and then back in Filter Forge 5 again for the framing. I really like how he turned out.

I love that effect @Knittingmommy , he is rather cute :-)  I haven't tried him out yet, but I snapped him up while he was free.

Thanks, @Mollytabby. I really like the effect, too. I have a few favorite filters I use in Filter Forge and I love layering them in Gimp. Toons are so much fun to play around with. I was really surprised when I saw that Daz was offering Baby Packy up for free with purchase. Yeah, I snapped that up, too. I love that vendor. I'm not surprised that Daz offered to buy out this latest creation of his.

So very cute, KM. ::imagines "Baby Elephant Walk" playing in background:: Nice to see something so bright and cheerful. Style is cool.

Thanks,@Wanderer. I like just messing around sometimes. You never know what cool things might pop out at you. :)

Camp NaNo is almost over and I've hit the halfway mark which is one reason I haven't been around quite as much the last two weeks. My word count is looking good and I'm pretty sure I'm actually going to win this year. Yay!

So, I did drag myself out of my writing cave long enough to render up an image for @RiverSoftArt contest that ends tonight. I used his Eye Clock Pose Control and Pose Randomizer. I had picked up the Pose Randomizer just because I had RiverSoftArt's other scripts and had found them useful. I love anything that helps me with my posing. I wasn't sure I'd use the Pose Randomizer all that much since I do a lot of my own poses. However, I found it very useful to take a pose or part of a post and randomize the crap out of it for a more natural looking pose than what I had done. Sweet!  The Eye Clock thing was really cool. I always have a problem posing the eye so they look natural and not obviously 3D. This tool worked out really well and I got just the pose for the eyes I wanted. Now, I just have to work on my rendering techniques to the final image looks more natural and not obviously 3D. LOL.

She looks great!  The eyeclock is on my wish list.  I have almost everything else she does I think.

@IceDragonArt Thanks. I'm surprised I actually made the deadline. I haven't come up for air much this month. The words are flowing really well though. I love that Eye Clock tool. I think I'll be using that a LOT! It was fantastic. I put it up on the menu bar under scripts so I could access it easier.

This is very nice render, best of luck in Riversoft's contest! I use the eye clock on almost every render now. I also really like the Look at Me Pose Control script.

@Stormlyght That's on my wishlist. That's practically the only script I don't have yet. I think there is one other one. I finally just managed to get the dragon bundle and one of the billboard products the other day. I haven't played with the billboard stuff yet. I love those scripts though.

Great image.  I am so happy for you for Camp Nanowrimo.  Arranging scenes and doing renders can be a nice way to exhale, if not taken too far.  Now get back to your keyboard!

OK, that last part about not taking it too far and getting back to the keyboard was aimed at myself. wink  I am terribly behind my writing goals this time around, but there is still some time to make it up.

Just popping to say hello. For Camp NaNo I'm working on two novellas that were supposed to be about 30K each. I've finished the first novella and it ended up being 27K words. I know I'll be adding more words and fleshing it out after Camp NaNo is over when I hit the editing stage. For now, I'm moving on to the next novella and while I'm behind in my words just slightly, I know I'll make it up and finish my 50K this year. I'm working hard to do just that. Thanks for the support everyone. It means a lot.

@DarwinsMishap Thanks. It didn't turn out too badly for a rush job.

@Diomede Thanks. Yes, you really need to hit that keyboard. I highly recommend it as a creative outlet. :)

@Wanderer Thanks so much. That's very nice to hear.

Just popping in real quick. I couldn't resist getting the Edie 8 bundle. I think she's a fabulous character and she'll go well with Ollie. She reminds me of some of the older film stars from the 30s and 40s. Does anyone remember Ma and Pa Kettle? With a little extra weight, I think Ollie and Edie will be great stand-ins for them. I can't wait to give them a try after Camp NaNoWriMo is over. I also picked up a few of the add-ons. Here is Dora for Edie 8, my first render with any of the Edie 8 characters. She has an interesting pale skin. I think she'll be great for more gothic images than what I have, but I'm pleased with how she turned out. She rendered really quickly, too.

@Novica Yeah, I love Baby Packy. He does have adorable eyes. I'm going to have to do a better image of him soon. I'm thinking I might do a kind of ode to Dumbo with him soon. I think he'll work well with that.

Postwork after the layers are combined is a good strategy to help bridge the gap between the photo background and the rendered figure. Really helps tie the 2 together - looks great, KM!
