Also, yes folks the brig will be large enough for 2 people, sorry 'bout that. I didn't explain I was testing also the stretch and whathaveyou. However I've also redone the actual confinement doorway. I found a pretty square on image of it so it's going to be pretty close. Sizing for M4.
To do the brig well, will take a bit of time but should be worth it. However the main item we all like I'm sure is that doorway. So "hopefully" it'll be done for release as a prop this weekend.

The temporary place for my "fanart' will still be mediafire ... the items I have on trekmeshes are staying there as long as they want them.

To avoid any disappointment, this is the kind of bridge you cross, not the command center of a vessel.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Be thee warned about Dreamlight freebies, your email will be spammed to death with Dreamlight newseletters.

Catherine, why not use DeviantART instead so you can show images of them two and post them to the ST groups there?

Is that the rumour? Because that would RAWK! I remember that character.

Is it a rumour? I created it and you're spreading it. That's the very definition of rumour!

I just went by the "your world" line and the fact that Cumberpatch was wearing a Starfleet uniform.

Anyhoo, I'm back to set building. RDuda's Sovereign Class Ready Room as Captain Norstrom's ready room aboard the U.S.S. Invictus.

    nice job!

Might try again next year ... last time when I tried to set up an account and was reading all the 'fine print' and also trying to absorb all what's available over there ... got this horrendous migraine headache which vanished as soon as I decided not to for now. I took it as a sign for the moment. There must have been some conflicting information somewhere because that's what usually triggers the red flags in my noggin.

    ....

yes ... Dreamlight does like to email letters ... getting a bunch from several people in fact which appear to be via said company. One can either ignore them, delete them, or 'unsubscribe' ... no point in mentioning this to them anymore, they know. So we subscribe and unsubscribe. Sometimes when subscribed the "subscribe for a download" link malfunctions ... so "unsubscribe" and re-enter address to re-subscribe. They do have nice models though and from time to time release a free tutorial on lighting.

The whole room is great, but I especially love the little added touches of set decoration. I'm kinda weak on that, myself.

Very nice! The black side doesn't look too light at all.

Too bad M4 didn't line up. Would love to have that shortcut... M4 will come soon, but I did play with a makeup texture. I ended up not doing exactly what I originally imagined, but thought it turned out pretty cute.

The villian in the new "J.J. Trek" movie?

    GARTH. OF. IZAR.

    ...Or maybe not. ;-P

You know, I think that could actually be a great idea -- I'd pass out from shock if that's what they did -- but I think it could work. "Whom Gods Destroy" is not a very good episode, but I think that's because it was so badly directed. Stylistically, it was approached almost as if it were a musical comedy instead of a tense "trapped in the asylum when the inmates take charge" horror/adventure plot. The colors were all too bright. The melodramatic moments were allowed to take on near-operatic dimensions. Garth's madness, instead of being menacing, was allowed to teeter constantly on the edge of ridiculousness -- and sometimes fall right in -- for no reason that furthered the plot or intensified the drama.

Garth had been everything Kirk is -- the finest cadet, the best Captain, a model for all other officers in Star Fleet. He was supposed to have been brilliant and charismatic. He seems to have had all the strengths that made Kirk what he is and yet he loses everything including his sanity. In the episode, we never get a good answer to the question Kirk and Spock ask him, "What went wrong?" I think you could do a whole, very action-packed movie (since this is a new continuity) where Kirk gets to watch whatever it is that goes wrong with Garth as it unfolds. A brilliant Star Fleet captain who everyone has idolized since he was a cadet goes rogue and turns against the Federation. He's been given the power by well-meaning aliens to assume the identity of anyone he chooses. He already knows exactly how Star Fleet will come after him. Kirk has to figure out how to destroy his idol who's constantly two steps ahead of him and has the potentially gut-wrenchingly dramatic ability to turn into anyone Kirk cares about or even impersonate Kirk himself.

Then after that, they could make another movie that would be "Whom Gods Destroy" done right -- where the asylum becomes this very horrifying place where Kirk is purposefully lured after Garth manages to outwit his keepers. Kirk is trapped there and up against this madman bent of vengeance who is a distorted mirror of everything Kirk hoped to be, is now, and secretly fears that he might become. A real psychological thriller with a touch of every "trapped in the insane asylum" video game that's ever scared the crap out of you...And it would have a sexy, homicidally insane Orion dancing girl. I don't think they'll ever do it.... but it could be good.

Hey all I just found this extended Japanese trailer that may change the villain in the movie. This has an ending that looks very much like the ending in TWOK. Take a look and see for yourselves.

Yeah, I've been figuring all along that they're just going to do a Wrath of Khan thing. And by "thing" I mean: Explosion. Running. Explosion. People yelling. Explosion. Running. Explosion. Semi-dressed woman. Explosion. Sight Gag. Explosion. People yelling. Explosion. Running. Explosion. Explosion. Explosion. The end.

Do you know who would be a great villian in a "J.J. Trek" movie?

CAPTAIN RONALD TRACY! He was bad-ass! Wiped the floor with Kirk a couple of times, too.

Oh, yeah! He wasn't even crazy. He was just a conniving SOB on the loose with a phaser and a lot of braid on his sleeve. You could do lots with him....

If they're going to re-boot, why not take episodes that totally or mostly sucked and make them awesome? Now, that would be a service to mankind.
