Morning. Bertolucci's 1900 is on TV, sure is a more than passing strange film, there is a clown wandering a country road crying "Verdi e morto !"  :o Monday morning is as gloomy grey as the rest of spring was so far, seem to have caught some kind of flu so housebound for a couple of days I guess, feels awkward to be home on a workday but I guess I'll survive. Those are my complaints nao :)

...note to self, never drink a bottle of cane sugar Coca-Cola in the late evening.  Tossed and turned for a couple hours before I finally fell asleep.

...meh weather for the next week, upper 50's to around 60°, cloudy, rain on some days, No more sunbeams to sit in.

Dreary weather makes me feel more tired.

Milwaukee had sunbeams and 72° today.

Maybe you need the rest and you wouldn't, so your body is forcing you!  Get well soon, anyway!

Regarding the Mr. Spock "Go Away I'm Blogging" image above.  Everytime I see one of those original Star Trek episodes and they have that "display" device he's using, I get a flash of rememberance that I feel I know what that object was.  I think the top part of it was a paper roll holder or cover for teletype terminals from the '50s & '60s.  They held (or covered) about an 8 or 9 inch wide roll of yellow teletype paper about 4 or 5 inches in diameter.  But whatever it was, I know I have seen that exact shape as a benign simplistic hollow container of some sort in my early work in computers.  They were made of sturdy molded pale colored plastic about 1/8th inch thick.  Think back over the old Star Trek episodes and you'll not remember ever seeing the front of that "display".

Well, perhaps it wasn't for the teletypes, but I know I've seen several of those "containers" laying around in the lab 40 years ago.

...well, with al this damp, rainy, chilly, weather it was time to to go nuclear and whip up a big pot of my sinus draining Thai curry. chicken tonight.  Ahh it warms the soul so well and to the point no germ would dare to think of compromising my heath.  With one and quarter pound of free range chicken breast, I made enough for four nights total (including tonight).  Yeah, the non factory farmed, non pre-frozen, non antibiotic variety is expensive (set me back nearly 8$) however you'll be lucky to get a single bowl of the same thing in a restaurant for that price....and I have three dinners left.

The cloudless sky is brilliant blue and the crisp morning breeze nibbles at my face like tiny piranhas.... Across the street the boats bob silently at the dock while two seagulls squabble over a crab carcass, like Black Friday shoppers over some bargains at a Walmart... A third poops silently from his perch atop a light pole... The breeze shifts and the lanyard on the flag pole clangs on the tall aluminum post like a small robot falling down a long spiral staircase. Fall has come and it litters the streets and lawns with red, yellow and burgundy leaves... They stir and dance on unseen whisps of air, waiting for rain so they can make some poor idiot slip and break their ankle.

Yeah... ps1borg does that much better...

I had to wait outside my daughter's school for a few minutes this morning and I decided to write something... It wouldn't post from my phone for some reason... Probably the stupid wifi I'm supposed to be connected to "in over two million hotspots all over Long Island"... Unfortunately I think all of those are in a one block area in Brooklyn (which, fun fact, Brooklyn, along with Queens are both part of Long Island, although they are boroughs of New York City)... (Fun fact two- only one of NYC's five boroughs is not on an island... The Bronx)... (Fun fact three... Sea gulls get annoying after a few minutes)... Seriously, on the other side of the lake next to the school is a McDonald's and the seagulls just assume everyone who is sitting down for more than five seconds has piles of French fries to share with them.

Oddly, I haven't gone to McDonald's in weeks, but I do have some French fries in my pocket, but the hell I'm sharing them with those greedy little dinosaurs...

If ever a seagull refuses to take a french fry, stop buying them from that place.
