Wonder what happens if a female halfling had an affair with a drow?  She finds out she is well expecting something that would expose the affair to her halfling husband.  What would she be expecting?

    Trouble?

Morning. Puffy white clouds like lost bunny tails drifting in an ocan of deep blue sky before a soft breeze that for once doesn't smell like rain :)

I actually opened a few windows today.  What a change from having the heat on.  We've had some nights down to freezing here.  But the heat hasn't kicked in for a few days.  Today it got a little too warm in here.

..nothing near freezing here, just 40s for the lows because of all the cloud cover and wet the last week or so, and the temp differentials between day and night have been 10° or less.  On the east side of the mountains they've been getting lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Agreed, and I also want a lotto win to afford UPSs that could keep 3 machines running at full pelt long enough to finish a render. Probably not worth it considering all I lost is time (and sleep - didn't get to bed till 2am!)

...OK Christmas isn't the only time people go overboard decorating and lighting their houses.  Halloween is probably even more popular. Take for instance this house in Southern California...

I used to worry about that type of thing.  Then I realized that I had simply outgrown my juvenile brain.  Like a snake shedding its skin, only on the inside.  Either that or some of my excitable hormones are missing. frown  Getting older sucks, one knows every movie, book, or comicbook plot.  There is less and less fiction that is fresh.  And we're stuck with dealing with reality. indecision

Back a while ago a lot of movies had to have a happy ending, the good guy was good, the bad guy was bad and the fringe was the few movies here and there that were more realistic, there was a balance...  So I guess at some point people got understandably bored with the first formula and started to look for a more realistic alternative... Which again, is understandable.

But apparently the alternative has become that bad is good, the good guy hiding something sinister and is ultimately the bad one, there is a hidden conspiracy in everything, everything has to have a "twist" you didn't expect, but makes absolutely no sense and in making no sense, it's so brilliant and un-understandable that it's sheer genius, and the crappier, vaguer, and more incomplete the plot, the more open to interpretation and the veiwer's imagination it is...

So now, just like before we have a standard formula... It's just different and no less hacky and predictable then the previous one... It's just wearing a different hat and shoes.

    Megh.

Have you ever been waiting for someone in a public place, like maybe outside their office, the park or even a diner or restaurant... You are sitting there alone minding your own business and two loud people come and sit nearby... They are engaged in a conversation that clearly began a while ago and they are talking loud enough for you to not be able to avoid hearing them... Clearly...  They go on for a while, and you have to hear all the stupid details about their stupid problems and stupid lives... And it's stupid because whatever they are talking about was totally foreseeable and avoidable or has a really simple solution like: see a damn doctor, stop dating her/him, don't pet stray coyotes that are foaming at the mouth, or something dumb like that... And then suddenly they get up and leave...  You didn't really need to hear any of that... it had zero entertainment value, it had no beginning and no end, nothing was resolved and to top it off the person you were waiting for never showed up because they got stuck in traffic or had to join a traveling circus or some other equally stupid excuse. So you had to sit there and be exposed to this event and in the end you are just left with this stale feeling, saying to yourself "what the hell is wrong with people"...

I think that's how I feel about most movies lately... Like past fifteen or twenty years "lately".
