Ehh... I still sometimes have to tap the Scale dial here and there just to make a few Gen 5 character specific items fit properly. Also, on rare occasion when I'll put say, something labeled M5 like a pair of formal shoes on an H5 or something V5 like a dress skirt on a hybrid of Hitomi and Aiko, it just doesn't "look right". It will fit them no problem, but it doesn't seem like one belongs with the other...

Does any one else feel this?

Look at the included fits for the new release Knight Gear! ;-) http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/knight-gear-accessories

    "Smooth" and "SuperFreak"? :ohh:

Well now! This just made things a hell of a lot more interesting! :-)

That's very interesting. But now the Superfreak morph has that old Rick James song stuck in my head. ;-)

See, people! I knew F5 was going to get Elite morphs! Like I told you earlier in this topic, Victoria, Michael, Stephanie and Freak have always been the four Icons that were truly "DAZ Original", so of course they play favorites with them! ;)

Not exactly. For me its not who the clothes are designed for, but do they fill my need for the costume. I also rarely use the stock textures anymore.

I can see how realistic highly detailed garments would clash with toon or vice versa. And I can image some proportion issues potentially, but I can't say I've had that problem. Makes sense though.

Would be nice if F5 came out already, but I don't want to stir speculation regarding dates. Be nice if he came out before the end of the month, but I think even tuesday is too late at this point. Won't get him at launch, need him to drop quickly so I can get past the 60 day waiting period LOL. Would be nice if his 60day release window expired before end of March ;)

Yeah, that's what I always consider. Victoria & Michael are "Real World" runway models while Aiko & Hiro are Stylized anime characters. Even back in Gen 3, seeing a realistic Michael/David skin on Hiro or a Victoria/Stephanie skin on Aiko made me cringe. Not only that, but Hitomi and H5 are much leaner than the others and their feet are significantly much shorter as well. So suits, dresses and shoes that were meshed and detailed with broader, bulkier people in mind will add to that awkward appearance.

But since F5 looks look relatively realistic than his predecessors, that may not be too much of an issue.

I throw realistic skins on my toons all the time, me loves the combo personally :) I rarely use the toon skins anymore. But I don't try to render skin particularly realistically, just psuedo realistically :) I don't shoot for that overdone bump/displacement deal that everyone raves over.

But at the same time I don't want my toons to have a singular consistent tone throughout their whole body either. Unless i'm using some toon shaders anyway.

From what I've seen (I've only been at this since last February), the Gen 4 figures seemed to have more morphs than the Gen 5 ones. That's why I picked up the original Stephanie 4 even though I have the Genesis version of her. I would imagine that with all that's available for Genesis, the Gen 5 characters might not need as many morphs. The SuperFreak morph sounds interesting; I'll look forward to seeing the promo pics when the product is released. If it looks like it can bring something to my genepool that I can't already get, I'll pick it up.

Yes, you very well may. but a vast majority of people almost never does. DAZ themselves even says that the Freak is supposed to be made was a humanoid starting point for something more stylized and powerful like monster hybrids and exaggerated character builds, etc. Also, like Kerya said, some people envision the Freak as a "gentle giant" kind of guy. and this new look that we're seeing in these latest images really responds to that notion. And doesn't say that people will limit his use to that. I personally can't wait to take this gentleman-like weight pumper and submerge him in Creature Creator morphs to make him properly express his namesake! ;)

What new look? He looks exactly like Freak 4.
I really don't mind the whole gentle giant thing if at least was done in an innovative way. What disappoints me is that they were unable to do something more than just another Freak 4 clone. I know all the love is put on Victoria, but how long did it took them to come up with this Freak 4 tweak? 3 days?
And “humanoid starting point" doesn't sound any better. Only thing I hope at this point is they fixed (at least slightly) those horrible legs Freak always had. But judging from what I see, I doubt they even bothered.

Can't say I felt that V5 or S5 looked all that splendid personally. So I don't think F5 is getting played here. I love me some Genesis, but really the base figures are kinda over rated looks wise. As far as I can see F5 isn't any worse than V5 really.

I expect some addon morphs (from Pa's) that should rock the kasbah though, hopefully.

Tastes aside, V5 definitely is different than V4.
But there’s no difference between this F4.2 and F4. The slight face tweak maybe?

Hellboy, you're really going to be embarrassed when you actually see him. I'd stop using that turtleneck picture for the basis of opinion if I were you.

Thanks for all the beta/vendor teasing. But I wonder why they used default characters for all the promos but Freak “5”s “super awesomeness” was custom reshaped to look exactly like Freak 4 Base on both products.

Yeah, unfortunately it’s too late for something new and useful like that.
Probably they know that putting a “5” on a F4’ custom face and “Elite” on a slightly smoother/scaled variant is enough to get sales, so why bother in creating something new?
The only hope now is smay did a real, muscle freak with the quality of Mr. Hyde. He really shows interest, talent and imagination on what he does.

I have to agree with Male-M3dia. If you reexamine my M5-F4 picture in comparison to even the turtleneck one, you WILL notice difference between the two. And I'm not just talking about the face either.

    Embarrassment? Nothing worthy of showing?
And for the same reason they put some effort on her creation. Because she generates the money.

OK, I went ahead and reexamined them. I took a good look and it just confirmed they all look the same. What is the difference? It’s not a good sign if I have to put F4 next to F4.2 to find differences.

Not sure why you're looking at them when I said not to. It's like comparing two types of oranges when one's actually an apple... then arguing reasons why the apple is a bad orange.

Maybe there's some more specific customizations with F5. It's kind of hard to imagine what it will offer, though, that Genesis Evolution + the iconic shapes or Smay's Hyde. But maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised. Holding off judgment on that till I see it in action. What I really just hope is F5 has a legacy installer. Not having one for Julie and Justin meant I can't use them so I'm not buying them (there's still some of us more comfortable with 4.0 than 4.5... particularly with so many of the plugins that still don't work). But if F5 is DUF4.5 or higher only? Not buying it either.

Not sure why you're holding on to the 4.0 version, but 4.5 is MUCH less buggy than 4. And since the poser compatibility is in 4.5 and 4.0 is designated as legacy you're not going to get much for it.. including figures. I'd suggest you'd upgrade, so you're not left out.

Yeah, legacy files would be nice. Some people hold on DS 4.0 because they like it better, but others simply do not have as good a computer to meet parameters necessary for running DS 4.5, so it´s not that they don´t want to upgrade, they cannot.

My system (3GB, single core 1.6GHz, ATI Radeon 3200) could barely run DS4.0 64 bit. It performs much better with DS4.5. Which plug-ins don't work with 4.5 yet?

I'm withholding judgement on Freak 5 until his release, but honestly I'm not sure I need him anyway. Hellboy, given your body of work, I'm pretty confident that you'll be able to make him look awesome, even if he winds up being a little disappointing. :) I do tend to trust the voices of those who have actually gotten a chance to see (and use?) him, though!

The Zbrush Warrior is pretty cool, for sure, but he strikes me more as a potential Character for Freak 5 rather than F5 himself. I bet we could get pretty close to that look with F5, Stoltz, and maybe Mr. Hyde...or possibly SuperFreak or SWOLE Freak.

That's the thing, from what I've seen of the actual F5 so far he's a very good match to the HellboySoto oeuvre. I think when you've seen the whole thing you'll like him.

With all the new tools that went into creating and keeping Genesis looking ever so good I'm sure the Freak 5 will add something great to the gene pool. Putting bets on how bad he's going to be is ... well ... just being negative. Let's not OK?

After hearing what the PAs who've seen F5 have to say, I'm looking forward to the official product release just so I can see the promo renders. I wish DAZ was still giving some sneak peaks of upcoming products in the Members Only section. That was a nice little perk. The Freak 5 Swole product sounds like it'll be useful; I've gotten a lot of use out of the individual morphs in the original Swole. I wonder if F5 will be released before A5?
