I know what a torus is and how to make one, but making then for this wouldnt work as there is no clue at size and scale- is flattened and enlongated for example

also there is no way to figure out what textures go where, so no way to load those except with trial and error.

Yes of course you do know - sorry I was writing faster than thinking ... was thinking also that others who have loaded this item might not know what a torus is.

Spotted Kitty I thought we had this fixed and ready for D/S???

Tried to open both the TMP Transporter and that big docking bay in Daz3, got an error message unable to find such and such PNG's and everything looks like a big piece of plastic. T_T

Unfortunately, as stated in my DA Gallery, the files are geared toward Poser 9 and D/S 4.5. I said that they weren't tested in earlier verisons and I had no idea how they'd behave. Have you checked to see if the material zones are there? In those earlier versions, you may have to appliy the textures by hand and adjust the scales that way, too.
The Sgt, had a problem with the transporter in one of the D/S pro verisons. He had to apply the textures manually and adjust the size.
But he got it worked out:

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/index.php?&ACT=50&fid=4&aid=68806_2lUfZFWuEaGCBk6gqp1B&board_id=1

Okay. Just tried loading 'all the pieces' into D/S4.5. Yes we have to manually find and apply the textures but that's not a problem. The only 'miss' is the call for a torus. [we can all make a torus real easy in D/S or Hexagon]. I'll hazard a guess that it's to be the container for all these pieces. I like what I see and am looking forward to texturing it for my scenes. Thank you :-)

So where's the body at? There shoiuld be a prop file for "Dock Body" with the galleries as part of it. Was the file you downloaded called "Starbase Docking Berth"?

That's what I was trying to show you. It doesn't exist. The prop is missing a 'torus' ... I tell it to 'stop asking', runs down a fast list of the times it would ask, and then loads what the second image shows.

I don't understand this. I will go back and add obj files and a scene file to the folder. Since I don't have Daz, that's the only answer I have.

For full-size & her log entry.

well....she could always ask Q. True, he might not be a cooperative or reliable source, but if anyone would know how this was pulled off--assuming it wasn't Q, himself--then he should know who else might have....

And what's the worst thing that can happen by asking Q? There's sure to be someone who's entertained--even if the only one entertained is Q--as everybody is killed off....8-/

Looks like an interesting start to the story. Looking forward to seeing more :-)

Glad you like it. Was this world created old at the time of the big bang? Or did it come from the time before the big bang?

I guess I need to go ahead and finish up the next image - "Flash Override".

No one knows of Q at this time point. The time period is around TOS season 4.

Actually, I also need to finish up converting Mylochka's bridge poses for Non-DAZ characters. I really need to get the G2 & G3's done before Rex and Roxy hit the stage.Obviously it's NOT the Well of Souls--but it might be one of the left-over homeworlds from that Markovian Universe...just have your crew be reeeeaaalll cautious of any big black hexagons in the landscape....

Or, it could be a time-travel event from the far-future of this universe gone horribily wrong....;-)

Of course, regardless of the system's true origin, such things shouldn't be revealed right from start--not when there's an ominous mention of Kzinti in relation to the discovery of the Marco Polo (I smell meat! Hee! Hee!)

Looking forward to the carnage--ooops, did I say that out loud? :zip:

Well it would appear that the files got mixed up. Easy enough to have happen.

I have released a Picture prop for the Wall with Doors.

Perhaps it only works for people who have Poser as well?

Spotted Kitty said he worked on the files so they'd work in Daz 4.5. I've also got a solution- hopefully- in the works. I'm waiting to see how it turns out.

Hmm, very odd. I just re-checked the files I sent back to you, and they do include the separate torus mesh (all other mesh objects are included in the scene/prop files), all the textures in the Runtime>Textures>Docking Berth folder, and all texture paths in the scene and prop files do point to that folder. The scene should work in any Poser, D|S3 and D|S4.5, although I could never get the smartpropped individual parts to parent properly in D|S — I suspect smartpropping changed more than I thought back in Poser 8.

But for some reason the Dock body is acting like the geometry isn't there- at least that's what their pics look like. If there's no geometry- no substance- then there's nothing to apply the textures to.

Just double-checked the scene file and the dock body prop, both contain proper calls to the torus obj file.

The file available for download contains no runtime structure just 1 directory named 'Starbase Docking Berth'
in which there are 2 directories and a readme file (Starbase Readme) -

the 2 directories are : Docking Berth - which has the pp2 files & Docking Berth- textures - which has the textures.

    Nothing else in the file

Anyway, has anyone ever created a morph or Michael prop to make a gorn? I'd mean the classic rubber suit Gorn from TOS, not the goofy CG version :)

Ah, I just may be of some help.

Allow me to refer you to this link...

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/240335/

It's not a dedicated prop for Michael specifically, but a generalized prop that can be used with a wide variety of figures. Well, it might not work that well with the Poser 4 baby or the P4 cat as it would look a tad silly, %-P but you get the idea.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

So it sounds like I do need to add an obj for the Dock body- which would enclude the galleries and that stupid torus.

well even with placing the one directory in props and the other in textures in the runtime directory and for good measure in the props and texture directory in daz studio content folder also - nothing shows up in daz studio, even after a scan for new files.

so only way to load this is to import each part seperately, which is fine, but it never finds the textures, and the parts are labelled so one cant easily decide what texture goes where, which in poser probably dont matter as they load fine.I honestly suspect the file you sent to SpottedKitty isnt the same as the one available for download if it works for SpottedKitty.

It's the exact same file because he sent me the "Corrected" files and those are the ones I made the final zip of.
Moto Tsume, would a Poser 9 scene file work for you?

    Check your PMs.

Yes, everything I sent back in the two zip files — full scene, the obj in a Geometries folder, the props in a Props folder and textures in a Textures folder, are all needed to make everything work.

D*&n. I didn't include the obj file- my Bad. But some have gotten it to work without it. Doesn't make sense.
    Okay. I'll fix it.

Three times. This is the third time. The stupid site keeps sending me to my Dashboard??!

I've updated the zip in my DA gallery. It now has an obj for the Dock body and a Poser 9 scene file for those that can use it. Those that have already downloaded the earlier file can PM me with their e-mails and I'll send them the new zip.

thank you ... I downloaded the .pz3 file and it works fine in D/S4.5 ... I expect it'll work fine in the older versions as well as they usually do.

Why it would have been working on some systems and not others would depend upon whether they just happened to have the same Poser .obj files in their collections.

I thought ( its a bad habit I know ) that mdbruffys excellent dock needed somewhere to live so I am working on a little base to house it

It' supposed to be the docking berth of the TOS starbase. BUt I suppose it could be a standard unit for just about any Federation - or in my case Union- base. :-)
