KK, have you looked into a signal booster? Does your modem have a quarter inch antenna port jack? eForCity 2 pack Wi-Fi Wireless Antenna / Router Signal Booster Just a thought.

...won't work as it has no jack.

This is the type I have (not the exact one but very similar).

Well, there are signal boosters that don't plug in like that. It was just a less expensive option that I saw.

    Dana

...the type I need is kind of like a "base station" which the modem is inserted into. Those tend to be a bit more on the pricey side and again require the hardware to be configured correctly

I think a signal booster might be a good thing. They wouldn't require you to plug into them, they just kind of amplify any existing signal. It's worth some research at least. It might be less costly, and certainly less technical to set up. I think you just turn it on. You could find the spot that has the strongest signal now, and place the booster there. It couldn't hurt to look into it.

    Dana

...unfortunately I am not that tech savvy to set up and configure an external system that will work. Also as I understand, boosters for my kind of modem are illegal in this country (most likely because the threaten the cable service providers who have a strong lobby).

..it's a sad thing when profit is placed before good customer service, but then I guess that's "biz" in this "gimme gimme" age.

Sorry to hear that. What country, may I ask? I thought you were here in the U.S.

...i am, but as I understand direct 3G/4G Wi-Fi modem boosting violates FCC regulations as they are FCC controlled devices. You can use a router, as long as you don't amplify their signal.

35f outside today, brrr! :bug: :bug: :bug: Where did Spring go? Cripes...

Cold sub for breakfast, soup for lunch, no idea about dinner. :blank: Probably a fish sandwich.

Friday is a holiday! Good Friday.. holiday and a payday.. that's good all right! I'll probably spend all day Friday running errands, the last pair of Levis blew its knees out last night. Well, they lasted through 5 years of hard labor. I'll buy 2 pair and be set for another 5 years. :smirk:

I need a new cell phone, mine is on the way out. Crappy Pantech handset anyway. :-S I just want a stupidphone, I do evrything meaningful on my tablet PC. :)

Meh, kind of. Meeting day. This means the consumption of mass quantities of coffee! :ahhh:

Cool. I don't see many Rock Dove where I live. But they used to be all over the place in the city where I grew up. Out here I see Mourning Dove a lot.

snow has melted. I think the temperature is supposed to be 50 degrees F. Need to reinstall the rest of my clothes and skin textures for Victoria 4. I've been too busy playing with Vue that I forgot about poor V4. lol I rather use V4 because she uses less computer resources than Genesis. I know, I need a new computer. :p

I pretty much stopped at the Gen 4 figures. Sure Genesis is nice and all, but given the things I do I have less than zero need for new figures. at least, humanoid ones! :vampire:

PPro 2012 and DS4.5 and Bryce and Carrara all run acceptably on my little Core i5 box, I'm planning on a Core i7 laptop towards the end of the year if I don't do something insane like work on getting a degree online in Creative Writing (heh). :bug:

V4 pretty much rocks! A3 is my second fave figure.
