Spent most of my afternoon figuring out this new-fangled Daz Studio 4.9 and I think I'm slowly getting the hang of it. So here's my first official iRay render with G8M wearing G2 Oliver's thong for a swimsuit and the Fraser hair. So far I am liking it alot. No postwork except for my signature.
Are you using Iray or 3Delight ,cause I moved to .122 and still have the black eye issue with 3Delight materials .....

Did you put in a ticket? I'd have them fix that for sure.

I haven't decided if I want Michael 8 yet, but I did have some fun doing some dial spinning with the morphs for G8M and here is the result. I think he turned out rather well. The hair is Asher hair for G3M and I think the skin is Gianni 7, I tried several so I am not positive if that is the one I stuck with.
Still thought that they'd want to shout about it though. Never mind, I'll get back into it all one day, I just like to keep on top of what's new and was surprised that G8's themselves weren't announced with a splash. Didn't see anything on FB or my emails. He does look good though.

just been tdoing more testing you can use g3 skins you've created in Facegen on G8 figures as well as skin textures of other G3 skins you bought but from what I've tried so far the Daz original skins will show seams for some reason if you try to use those tried with Darius7 on G8 didn't work this one here is using FW Quiton HD for M8 one of the characters out of the Michael 8 Pro Bundle wearing Genesis 3 skin FWSA Tchanum HD for M7
Like a lot of things, there's a time and place.
Unique UVs make a lot of sense for dramatic differences in bust size, overall proportions, musculature, and various weird creatures.
Most of the other times... not so much.
I think the complaint is that there are fewer default template options, as not everyone sees the need to buy PA provided options.
This is Darius 7 on G8 and all I did was add the skin in the surface tab.

I really like Virtual World's Marcello character for G8. He renders beautifully.
Both the Cornea and EyeMoisture are using Refraction with Opacity set to zero. If you set Refraction Weight to 0.0, you are effectively removing the mesh of both from your render. Set Refraction Weight to 100% instead. I think you'll like the effect better. (Seems odd to me it doesn't load at 100%.)

Not bad. You can always fix that white spot on his neck in post. Did you notice anywhere else that the seams didn't quite come together? (Some UVs are really close, and some leave a lot of white stripes where seams don't quite come together.)
