3D Coat is suppose to be pretty good. It has a combination of tools from Cinema 4D and Mudbox. We use both C4D and Mudbox for all our texturing.

Cheers for the info frank! :cheese:

I never played with Carrara but I was under the impression it couldn't load up genesis. (I'm at work on my iPhone atm, and haven't visited any other websites, but I have gone through Zbrush web site and looked up many videos, after speaking with a bunch of PAs who all seem to use it for character/morph modeling.(which is what I'd love to do) Will certainly look into 3D coat. The biggest issue with 3ds is it not really friendly with Daz figures, import/export and scaling is equally painful. Don't get me wrong, I totally love 3ds, but I love it for environment, props and architectural modeling. But hey, I certainly not purchasing any new software yet lol

    If I have 8, do I get a free upgrade to 8.5?

Ski! Did u end up getting lux render? If so how'd you go with it? I've checked out many artworks that used lux render and I find with some skin is superb and so real, others the skin looks dry I don't know what it is maybe the specula is a bit off... I am also hearing about "octane render" but haven't seen any comparisons. Mind you garibaldi hair is specifically for 3delight so it prevents me a bit

I have two versions of DS-to-Lux, but I haven't done much Lux rendering at all. Been sort of busy with other things. Which is kind of stupid!

And when it comes to hair, LAMH can export it as an object.

I've been busy making packs so haven't had any time to render.

Yeah those two have been in constant competition, both can export as obj. Both also released a viewer type option so users can simply use hair others have created.

In regards to OBJ Tho I haven't tried it myself, it is a solution. :)

...yeah if you can swing it Zbrush is definitely more affordable than 3DS.

Me being a total cheapskate because of my lack of disposable income has to be satisfied with Blender. Heck even Silo is too rich for me (and I'm not going to mess about with that Steam thing).

..in space, there is no up, there is no down, there is no left, there is no right, only x, y, and z and that is only relevant to your own personal frame of reference at the moment.

...oh carp, this is the stupid thread, my apologies.
