58 posts since I visited.... Thanks for your kind coment AlmightQuest. Your black and whites are inspiring!
It's a beauty, don't worry, none of those things are evident. If it's not broken dont fix it ;)
Carrara job with a few native renders joined up.
Ot if you are interested in Carrara then a whole lot of very valuable plugins have just been put up for free by their creator. Some of them are ideal for npr work.

ToonPro is a beauty.
One great thing about nonphotorealistic pics is that physical consistency is an option, not a requirement.
And... that just gave me an idea for a render. Hopefully I'll be able to find time for it sometime.
Something I whipped up quickly as a mailing label. The usual production notes: Poser Pro 2011 Renders, composited in Photoshop and Manga Studio 5 EX (aka Clip Studio Paint).
And, as you can see, I decided to work in color again!
Thanks, but I also just realized that his shadow is casting the wrong way! UGH. I'm far too OCD to let this go to print without at least trying to fix those things (all of which are pretty darned fast fixes).
VERY impressive. It's got a great sense of motion and the colors give it a wonderful vintage look. I also like the significantly muted background. Was this all one render, or multiples combined?
OK, you've convinced me to start working on some pages for my graphic novel idea. I can't say how long it will be before I show any of it. I have some ongoing projects I need to finish. I'll try to show the pages even if they suck, so I can at least get some feeback. I'm seriously lacking in self-confidence and I'm not sure I have all the assests I'll need, but here goes nothing.
You do terrific work. If people dont like it they have no taste - so nothing for you to worry about. Looking forward to watching the project

Thanks !
I started out with just a shadow pass (you design the lighting with this pass in mind)
Then I used ToonPro to give outlines - this plugin is now free - grab it. (multiply parameter)
I used a diffuse pass greyed down to give a sense of texture - diffuse pass just has textures - no shadows
I used a depth pass with a screen parameter to give that greyed out background
all these passes are Carrara native passes bar the Toon Pro one
thge colours come from filter forge and nik nix
YAY! I knew I could wear you down! :-)
Seriously, though, I think this is the next step in your evolution and learning. You're ready to give it a shot, bud, and I (for one) can't wait to see what you create next!
Now I think I'm finally finished! I moved the figure to the left, adjusted the white highlights and made a few tweaks to the shadow (instead of a solid color, it's now an airbrushed pattern, which I think looks better when printed).
Colonial Scout. Last one before I start on my Issue 0 cover art.
Just a quick animation I did for fun. Featuring that pink haired anime girl I made a while back.
Moho + Daz|Studio, or Poser, is a powerful combination for throwing together animated projects.

Very nice. Thanks for posting about open source version.
May be finally, I can try myself Toon Pro for free.
Thanks. My pleasure :) Yes I use Toon Pro all the time - very good. Have fun . Wireframe pro looks good too. Just save your scene before you render because if you try to abort a Toon Pro render sometimes Carrara Hangs,
Neeto!! love progress and tweeks on this one! I also like the airbrush color as well, gives it a more nostagic look of Conan.
Thanks! That's exactly the kind of look I was shooting for: The look defined in those old, classic Savage Sword of Conan b&w comics.
Once again, I'm trying to decide whether or not to get pwToon. I can't decide if it will help or should I just stick with my regular workflow?
No matter what else I've tried since, I always end up going back to PWToon.
I experiemented with an image @nDelphi did with PwToon (with his permission). I think I'm going to get it. Just wondering if I should wait for a sale.
Original Image With some of my filters (my favorite of the 3).
Pip and Scooter ran into some trouble salvaging parts from what they thought was a long abandoned junk heap.
ran an art action over photoshop render
Cool
Really nice looking image, deathbycanon, congrats.
Without a doubt, this is one of the coolest NPR pieces i've seen in a long time. You totally nail the watercolor look, and this could easily be on the cover of a young adult book. VERY impressive.
Can you give us more details about your process? I've been toying around with an idea for a cover illustration, and this look would be perfect for it.
VERY solid work. I would wait for a sale (there's always another sale!), but that's just me. If you want it, it might just be worth the full investment. Very much looking forward to seeing what you do with it next.
I don't know if anyone is interested in seeing this with the text applied, but it definitely gives you more a sense of the space and the way I used text in conjunction with the design.
In retrospect, I think the plant elements are a bit large on the sides, which forced me to inset the text a little more than I think would be optimal. But, nevertheless, I think this looks pretty good.
BTW: If anyone would like a free PDF of this magazine, let me know via PM and I'll send it to you!

Playing with Topaz Studio filters.
OK, I've been sidetracked by a new tool.
What tool is that, tkdrobert. Looks interesting.
