Ok- so still need to work on the shoulder/neck area, but the seam is better than previously rendered.  Haven't done any treatment to the tattoos yet to not have them look so "stamped" on, since I am still working with the seam issue and placements.

How do you manage tats in your workflow? Is that just painted somehow in Blacksmith/ZBrush/Hexagon, or something else?

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

That depends on the tattoos I'm working on; I will block out the areas in Blacksmith first (Arm to shoulder, neck to chest, etc) especially if the designs are going to cross over seams.

Then, again depending on what type (I will use the black out technique here) of tattoo I am making, I will make another layer in BS (blacksmith from now on) to lay down the precise boarders of where the blackout tattoo is going to be.  Depending on the design, I will also erase areas to make any type of lines, boarders, edging, etc within the design or around it (Such as the effects around the hand, shoulder, and over the red area of the arm tattoo on Mikhail).  Always save a blank layer between the skin jpg and the blank layer I am working on for the blackout design, hide the skin layer and save as a png.

This, then, gets opened up in CS5, the skin jpg opened up as well, copied, and pasted onto the tattoo png from BS.  Make the skin texture the base layer and then I always open, copy, paste the UV over the skin and lower the opacity to about 50% or lower to make sure things line up.  However, with BS, there are times when certain pixels will not get filled in around the UV edge, even with blurring the edging, so I do try to pay particular attention to this.

Then I can continue my designs while painting in CS5 and now and there throw them into Studio as temptat01arm or something to make sure there are no seams rendering out.  The render above is the second round of working with correcting the seam issues between BS, CS5 and Studio.

Hexagon is, for me, always for the assistance of sculpting, fine tuning edges or curves of the sculpt, etc.

I have been slowly working on Substance as well for skin painting, but it's been a slow process for me.

That's awesome!  I've done that a time or two, going through my library and ...."whoa, I have that?!"

He's coming along nicely. Love the tats!

Oh yeah I regularly discover things in my library I forgot I had lol

Thanks!  Working on a different set for the torso/neck area now.  Did a few ideas just for the torso, one of them kind of shown here with a render I set up to cook after I'm done around noon today working on these.  I'll post the finished render when it's done and when I get back up to the office later tonight.  This is a screenshot of the Iray preview window:

Been a busy weekend, with about an hour or two only to "art".  Since I've seen questions regarding Xaviar's goatee with beads, and ChangelingChick (CC) has given me permission to upload it as a freebie in my thread here, I've been working here and there while I can to tweak some things, and will be setting up materials for the fibermesh hairs and beads.

Right now, I'm just repositioning some hairs, and resizing the beads.  After, I'll be working on setting up a few morphs (Bend forward, back, side to side and maybe lengthen a bit if I can).

Screenshot in Hex (working on repositioning some hairs and bead sizes atm):

I'll definitely be adding the same hair colors as Xaviar's, as well as a few additional colors inspired by ...say Kyle's or Stryker's looks/hairs. Just for some variety.

Congrats on yet another fabulous release. Unfortunately, I don't have Valentino.

The beard looks great and love the adding of beads.

Thanks!  I haven't had but an hour to work on them, unfortunately, and had hopes of posting up the freebie prop but it's going to have to wait until I can get more time to get things finished.  *sigh*

The final render of the red iris version

Worked on the two additions this morning:

Will be working the snake and mouse idea into the set as well as updating the KittieGlobe model for a bigger set of ears to kinda match the style of the other two.  May add three small whiskers to either side of the nose on the KittieGlobe as well, since I added the teeth for the bunny and the tongue for the puppy versions.

Wauw that tattoo looks awesome. Love the red iris!

Awww love the new addons to the kittyglobe. They're adorable! I seriously wanna cuddle them.

Thank you!  On both.  lol  I'm not done with the globe sets yet- gonna name them DM NightLight Globes.

On the tattoo stance, a sneak peak:

Finally finished the tattoo sets (there's........a few combinations, to say the least).  Time to work on the LIE presets and additional skin settings before finalizing his props.  How is everyone?

That's good news. It's got to be difficult to work at home and create assets. Thank you for not taking a break on asset creation.

There are just the two of us here, and only hubby goes out. So far, that strategy has kept us both safe and healthy. Knock on wood.

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

Good to hear, L'Adair!  We're trying ot stay safe here as well: usually I am the only one that goes out on a bi-weekly basis, but Friday we both had to go for taxes.  That was the first time my partner has been out of the house since March 25th or so.

    Update render on tats!

  • FerretmaniaFerretmania Posts: 883

Oh my those tats look sooo good!

I'm happy to hear everyone is doing okey.

Things are good here too so far. Denmark is slowly opening up again, but you still have to keep distance and such.

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

That's good to hear, glad you and yours are safe!

We have actually had a rise in cases (which isn't surprising), almost 200-300 a day again.  Which is upsetting.

  • FerretmaniaFerretmania Posts: 883

Sorry to hear that. I hope you and Oliver stay safe .

We've had some outbreaks here too in different areas. Not in my town though, thank goodness.

There's an area up north that has a new variation of the virus and they can't tell where it came from. They suspect it's from a mink farm since the mink there where tested positive and all of them where put down. There's another mink farm up there where the minks are tested positive too and the owner and his wife.

Looks like it's not over yet and I've read about several Country's where they've had new outbreaks.

Ohhh I meant to ask. Where's the beanie from?

We're doing our best to stay safe; unfortunately, I believe that mean not taking my yearly visit to see my family in July- which sucks.  There's too much of a risk of picking up something along the way and my parents are >65, and there are babies (<1 - 10 yrs of age) in the house where I'll be staying. Not to mention I'm at a higher risk (My parents are Very high risk) and my partner is also a high risk.. Not worth the risk of getting anyone sick.

The beanie is a freebie set, actually.  I've found that I've been going back to it often in renders.  You can use just the beanie, or the beanie with the hair pieces as they are separate props.  While there are no real morphs for the hair bits, there are slight movement morphs.  There are adjustment morphs in the beanie itself as well.  You can find it here: https://www.renderhub.com/intheflesh/delsin-beanie-and-hair-for-genesis-8-male  Show the maker some love, there are several things on their Renderhub page that are really well done.

That sucks not being able to go see your family, but yeah better safe than sorry.

We need to be careful here too. my mom is at high risk and me too.

Thank you for the link. That beanie really looks great.

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

Yeah; it sucks all the way around, but I'm not gonna risk so many people just for me wanting to see everyone.  Playing the adult sucks at times. lol

You're welcome!  I use it often, as you can tell.

He is very close to being ready for testing; I have two or three more things to work out, and I'll be sending the zip along to the next person chosen by the randomizer while I start getting the library and dial icons rendered out. :)

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

Ok, so the randomizer chose Ichiban for Mikhail to be tested!
