This is a picture of a cake I found on the internet (I found the picture, not the cake). Thought you'd enjoy it.

Unless the dragon is sitting on it (Or is the cake, in which case that's kinda creepy XD)

Yep, it's the draggy. But what a masterpiece of cake art (too pretty to eat).

Yeah then it's quite creepy o_O
I've never liked cakes in the shapes of animals, especially when you go tearing it apart limb by limb and stuff DX
I get all sensitive and stuff :B

(Plus is a dragon - only amplifies those feelings XD)

Haha... If you coulda seen me at my (5th? Maybeh was my 7th...) birthday... We had a cake in the shape of a shark. Had a open gaping maw and stuff...
I was sooo freaked out when they started cutting it I ran crying from the room D: yeah, I did like sharks a ton at the time which is probably why they got a shark-shaped one, but animal-shaped cakes... Always disturbed me ^^ Sure, I don't cry or anything now that I'm older, but it still weirds me out.

    ...

It is quite detailed though :3 Would love to have that as a plastic/clay figure~ (Without the "grid" and dice it's sitting on. Those are ruining it for me ;P)

I think I will get V6 pro bundle tomorrow. Hopefully she will still be on sale then.

How do I convert textures to be duf?

How do I convert textures to be duf?

I think you select the character then File->Save As->Material Preset

From what I've read if you're converting V4 textures you should apply them to V4, not Genesis 1, then save so that the reflection maps for the eyes get saved.

    Another render....

Most of his neck was off-screen in this new angle, so I had to tell him to face the camera :3
I'm going to let this one sit until dinner tonight, perhaps longer depending on how much noise remains, but here is so far (It's acceptable yes, but the depth of field and the interior of his mouth are still quite grainy)

No postwork of any kind on this one ;)

Yes, apply the non-duf material files (which are what need converting, not the actual textures) to Victoria 4 and then save as a Materials preset from File>Save as. For things like make-up or eye colour you will want to save only the affected surfaces, using the options dialogue.

    Eeeeeek DX

I was using WinRAR to put all of the plant volumes I downloaded into one ZIP file, and told it to split it every 700MB and sent it on its way.

Well... I canceled it because it was taking so long and was slowing my computer down a ton (Indigo is also running) and was just gonna place all the libraries into a single folder on my iomega storage unit.

That's when I noticed a FLOOD of zip files in my Downloads folder! Apparently I mistyped something or set it wrong... Since it was splitting the archives every kilobyte! DX

    part0000001?

part1165153....!? Ha... Good grief XD It created over a million files!!

I guess it's a good thing I stopped it before it went too far *derp*

i'm finding under some light sets, isn't compatible with pp12 sss render option. turned attempt at sss biguana skin into inked out absence of light.

    hd scr'ch

could it be the specular only light as the trouble? doesn't make sense cuz there're other lights in the scene. but when does it ever make sense

...well some good news and some bad news.

May as well get the bad news out of the way first. Connectivity ills have been getting worse, Last night spent nearly an hour trying to get a good connection. Today after ninety minutes (out of two and a half hours) of incredibly slow page loads, lots of resets, timeouts, Server Not Found errors, and "dormant" connection status, shut down grabbed the modem and headed down to the central ISP's store.

Had him scan the back of the modem to get the details and yes it is nearly 4 years old (two of the 4 signal strength meter lights went out on it recently). So first, I press the question again about a replacement as I have been paying a monthly insurance surcharge just in case such a situation occurred. He told me that they would have to make a custom version of this particular device (an A600EDVO) since it isn't sold or supported by them anymore. The other choice he gave me was getting the next up the line which was 69$ telling me I would get a 50% discount because of my insurance policy. OK 35$ I could handle (well sort of considering I already plunked down 126$ for a new monitor this weekend). Well, when I inquired further I learned that 69$ price tag was with the 50% discount which also would change my plan giving me only 2.5G of download per month. I told him I work in 3D CG and given the size of some downloads (particularly if it is an application update) I could chew through that in a week or so (heck a 1.99$ Jack Tomalin prop can easily top 100MB).

He then tells me if it doesn't work I can return it but I would only get a refund of 45$, so basically I would be paying them 24$ (which is about half of my monthly connection fee) on my extremely tight budget for nothing.

Next I inquired if there was any sort of tech support I could contact concerning the possibility of a bad node in my neighbourhood. I explained that twice per day (about 10:30 - 12:30 and again 21:30 - 00:30) connectivity goes down the loo completely. I gave him my address and after he checked (I guess their personnel are privy to this info but we the paying customers are not) and then told me that my area of town was a "low connectivity" area. I thought, "excuse me" this is a middle class to slightly affluent area not more than a fifteen minute bike ride (at my leisurely pace) from Downtown Portland, not some place out in the boonies. When I brought up the question about them upgrading the signal in our area he mentioned something like it would cost 1$ million for them to do that.

OK so now I see where this is going. Apparently part of my woes also have been due to their technology and policy. They have no other CS contact other than a nationwide 800 phone number. He told me there is a chat option available, but in all the times I've been on their site I've never seen it (again most likely just for their business offices).

OK it gets even better. for after a bit more inquiring I learned they are basically abandoning straight wireless broadband and going completely over to being a smartphone retail store and service provider. So then I ask why (after everything I told him) would I pay nearly 70$ for a device that maybe 6 months or so from now would no longer be supported? No answer.

So much for their "innovative" customer friendly philosophy.

So y'all may not see me around as much for a while until I can find another solution. Most likely it will involve that long transit odyssey I have been trying to avoid to get to the Comcast/Xfinity CS office.

....OK so now the good news.

Just received an email not long ago from UPS that says my new monitor is on the way and is scheduled to arrive by the end of business day tomorrow (it's already at the Roseburg OR hub just to the south of Portland). So the beast will be back up and running before the holiday.

In light of what I dealt with earlier today, that IS what I call "Customer Service".

I checked the GPU again, and yes it does have DVI port as well as HDMI so I will be in good shape for incredibly crisp clean images. Already shifted things around on the desk in preparation.

No rainz here for the next ten days though the heatwave is finally going to break and we'll be back where we should be (upper 70s - low/mid 80s). Will probably stay home this weekend to make up for lost time completing scenes and rendering.

Starflakes (what Leela calls them) Thursday night for the holiday They usually put on a pretty good display here.

Heading home to make noms. Will try to get back online but I can't guarantee for how long.

...well back home and so far sort of OK. Back to slow motion again.

Grilled Cheezy and pan fried chips. Don't do deep frying anymore because it's such a mess and waste of oil, especially when you use something like Safflower oil which s a lot more expensive than that Canola rubbish.

If the unit arrives in the morning, I'll take the afternoon to get a Day Pass, go to Comcast then into town for the evening where a lovely lady I met is having her first gallery showing. She's into hand drawn/inked/coloured anime styled work as well as being a writer. Very nice work.
