Still a bit confused by what UVs will and won't work for G2F and how to get different skin textures without a lot of pain and extra expense. I really wish (and don't know why) the YT5s used the V4 UV instead of the ones for either Genesis or V5.
They do use the V4 UV set, though.
Wonder if he meant why they didn't use Genesis/V5 UVs.
Greetings,
Wow; this looks great! While my 5yo is a bit taller (45" vs. the 42", I think I read?) he's also a boy, and both his parents are tall, any of which might be the difference.
Both he and my wife have been after me to build him in DS though, so I'm eagerly awaiting G2M and 'Growing Up G2M'. :)
Your stuff rocks very much, and I hope it's bringing you (and continues to bring you!) the commercial as well as critical success!

Thanks man:) And yes, around 42". Had to take into consideration the height of the base and the height of an average female. That's why the product also comes with an average adult proportions morph that is thrown into the mix. Plus with Shape Shift or the Genesis2 morph pack, you can adjust the height to your liking anyways:)

Reason for this is because if made on V4 UV, customers could use the texture on V4 natively as well, meaning more support and usage. It's a factor most PA's considered at the time. Well that's how I look at it:)

Base Genesis uses the V4 UV by default. All the gen 5 UVs are add-ons

...ach, messed up that post in the re-edit. I meant to say "wish the YT5s didn't use the V4 UV."
This is one of the reasons I have not bothered with G2F as to use any of the teen5 maps I would need to shell out an extra 15$ for the V4 clone. The G2F Body/Head morphs being an extra purchase I can understand as the Genesis Evolution morphs were separate from the original Genesis figure, and the G2F ones are still DOs (so I can get PC discounts and use coupons on them). The V4 clone is a PA item and thus ineligible for PC discounts and coupons.
...that is how tight of a budget I am on and there is content in the queue (that has been on my wishlist, some of it for a while) that has priority.

Looking at it a little differently, if they used the V5 UV, you would need to own V5 for YT5s textures to work, which might be a deal killer for some.
...the thing is if they used the base Genesis UV all the YT5 maps could be brought into G2F without having to purchase a third party utility. However, because they used V4, I have to spend an extra 15$ to use any of the Teen5 textures. That is a total rip.

You can still use map transfer to make a set for Victoria 5 which is more compatible. Had they made it for base Genesis you'd still have the same issues since the UV's are still incompatible. Besides which, making them backwards compatible with V4 was a smart move as they remain compatible with the Interjection packages and the Texture Converter so you can move them to other sets if needed, such as I did for K4.
Quick test with Gia using the growing up morphs. On the left is Gia (head at 100%, body at 50%) with the growing up morphs as a teen. On the right is Gia with the adult proportions morph dialled in, also from this set. Both have a pinch of belly control in them.
The face seems quite a bit smoother in the younger morph. Can I assume that the child morph works similar to the Basic Child from Genesis and is a single age slider. or have you differentiated between head and body morphs? I'm very interested to see what sort of facial changes can be brought about by mixing the child morphs with existing characters like V6 and Gia. I hardly use any morphs these days which aren't a blend of some sort.
Either way I'm chomping at the bit to get my hands on these morphs already! They really do look great and I guarantee they'll be in my cart the instant they hit the store.
The face is changed because it uses the youth morph to alter the face, so one slider yes. Other wise you will have a teen or child with a grown up face\ proportions and that doesn't look right. So the face will change structure according to the relative age group with whatever character face you have dialled up. If you look on the first page there is an example of how the Norma character (for V6) face changes as you adjust the dial.
I had expected it to be a single morph, which suits me just fine. The basic child morphs on Genesis have proved useful in a variety of different situations, which is one of the reasons I was a bit dismayed when Genesis 2 did away with them.
Test renders of the young teen preset and 5 year old, and young teen and ten year old. All on default Genesis2 Female base with no added characters mixed in.
Yes you can adjust the head size. These presets load with the average adult proportion morph blended in which can be switched of. That morph basically scales the figure to average female proportions and height according to age. If you disable it, it will dial according to the height of the Genesis Female Base which is a lot taller and where the head appears a lot smaller. The head morphs package contains a Head Propagating Scale morph where you can adjust the head size to your liking if you don't like the settings.
...looks very good. I like the child shape particularly. I always had to use a bit of the Head Propagating Scale morph even with YT5. Not a real issue.
A lot of thinning of the hips can no doubt be done (just guessing as I don't have it) with other morph dials included in the G2F body morphs. If one can import Genesis "Classic" based morphs into G2F (guessing again) and has Thorne's Satsuki she also has two hip adjustment morphs to narrow the outer portions of the pelvic and upper thigh area. That's what I used combined with a bit of the Universal "Thin" morphs before YT5 came out.
Here is a young teen character on default Genesis2 female base I made using the morphs. I included a shape morph and a head size morph to the package that can be used to your liking for those who want to change things up.
Thanks:) It will be available next month. I used this skin http://www.daz3d.com/aspen-for-gia and just changed the diffuse from white to a slightly darker grey. The eye texture come from an unreleased set.

Looking really good! The faces are much more convincing in that last render! It's weird how subtly it changes as they get older (and a credit to your modelling skills)
I'd probably throw in a bit of potbelly for a kid. I just assume all kids have potbellies. *obviously has no children or frequent dealings with other children to compare* :p
Thanks:) There is a young weight morph included. And if you want a pot belly, belly control can do that for you:) This products function is mainly to offer aging variations, not really shapes, so I wanted to keep it simple. I think you can combine it with the Genesis2 female weight\heavy morphs as well if a pot belly is what you are looking for:) On page 1 you can see the weight morph dialled up http://www.daz3d.com/forums/index.php?&ACT=50&fid=508&aid=81072_i1uul8PTvsPMqY8JWWqT&board_id=1

This looks wonderful. I will try to get it when I can.
I've always wanted to build my grandchildren and with this, it looks possible.
I let my sons and their wives do that. lol

I meant make a picture using DS

Heads look too big to me. The altering of the face looks good. Is there a dial or slider to make the heads smaller?

Finally some teen morphs that comes without the horrible balloon head syndrome. : )
I was wondering if there will be a slider to shrink them a little on their X scale? To more resemble Young Teen 5 body types.

5 and 10 year preset of same character.
It looks great Zev, impatient to get that product :)
What are the maps you used on your model ?
It's really good on your character.

Thanks for the information about the maps :) :)
