The Forrestal Bridge is almost near completion.I finished the LCARS/PCAP interfaces for the bridge except for the helm/Nav and considering adding a holographic interface and even consoles along the railing of the bridge. Along with what a Starfleet Uniform looks like in this era of my story, Still got more to go but this is essentially what  a Connie Bridge looks like

Yeah, I considered some of those points as a rationale for the comms' size.  Being "field gear" possibly being used in a combat setting, you want those things to be robust as h3ll.  I can imagine a promotion campaign by some contractor, "We just 'fed' this communicator to a Horta, and, as you can see, 'Horty' here has failed to 'digest' it!  The device passed through her system and is still fully functional!"

    Sincerely,

    Bill

As the old Timex commercials used to say "Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin"

Yeah, I had the old TV ads with John Cameron Swayze in mind when I typed that.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

My only complaint is that it's a bit too dark to see all the great work you put into this. The PCAP looks awesome. Great job!

I agree with you there. When I did the test shot. I was checking to see how it would look with the lighting. Gonna up it a bit more for when I have her completed (Progress at 85%) . Been trying to find a good mix for lighting somewhere near TWOk and DISCO.I added a outer done at the top using another bridge set for a smaller ship (which will be used in my story as well). Not to mention outer scenes as well given this bridge. Like how Disco and the Kelvin films you can see the saucer outside the viewer.
  • Shifting gears a little bit, saw a great design for re-vamping the TMP uniforms by JBogguess to have more color and more match the colors of the TOS uniforms, so I'm adapting them to the Courageous and Valiant.  Right now just the Courageous. These are still WIP. In order from left to right Operations Duty Uniform, Science Dress Uniform, Security Duty Uniform. The Captain and First Officer get some green duds and the Casual uniform I haen't even touched yet.

I'm doing them up as Prime Universe for the moment, but I'll be doing a set up with the one for my AU as well, cause why not?

You're re-vamping it for your new project?  But, that set looks too brightly lit to be crewed by vampires.

Actually, all joking aside... I like how that set and those uniforms look, and I look forward to more of it.

On a different note... I DO wonder what a melding of a Classic Trek sort of universe and a Dark Shadows sort of universe would be like.  Vampires with a starship.  HAH!

    Loved the series

  • Yah. Me too but I was disapointed in the end of the last season.
Seemed like they rushed it a lot.

Started reworking the Forrestal using Grewolf Starkiller's Connie as a starting point and doing some minor tweaks here and there

Working on updates to some previously released bridge sets.

    Bridge 14.

A few changes from the poser version, like the doors actually work and most obviously the additional ceiling lights in the alcoves

I'm still working on the colors and hope to have a green and purple set plus if at all possible a Star Wars Imperial black, we'll see.

Does anyone know if there are there any G3/G8 Characters or clothing textures made for Star Trek yet? I am dying to see some TNG or DS9 character models for them.

If you have the Wear All  you can just auto-fit them, or have Genesis and Genesis 2 you can fit the V4 clothing to Genesis, then to Gen 2 then to Gen 3.

That's what I've been doing with the TMP uniforms I've been working on. They're all for V4 Courageous and all the characters in the image are based off of G3 with minimal fuss.

The only problem with the existing DS9/Voyager uniforms would be the one that use the skin of the character for the undershirt.  You'd have to apply that to G3 skin textures, but it should still work ok.

Is it just the angle of the turbolift exits, or are those door at a slant?  I need more coffee.

Did anyone watch Star Trek Discovery this week?
We finally get some nice views of the Enterprise interior, and OMG they made a beautiful ship.  It looks like a cross between the TOS version and TMP with some modern scifi flare thrown in!
Here's a link to an IGN article titled "HOW STAR TREK: DISCOVERY REDESIGNED THE USS ENTERPRISE BRIDGE" with a bunch of nice screen captures (The turbolift even has the handles!).

  • Great screen shots JAB.

Oddly, the bridge chair looks like TOS...
Seems to me that's gotta be the most uncomfortable chair you could put someone in for numerous hours sitting.
The blue and red color I never really adjusted to. It doesn't make sense. It looks interesting but it's dark for an all day, working envirnment. Depressing.

Their lighting in the meeting office (Im at a loss for room titles at the moment) is odd.
Seems to me the ports would have light dampening ability to balance the light from outside sources.

Coridors are clean and simplistic but the grating stuff on the sides is a passage anoyance and superfulous.

The shoes look like loafers. I'm not happy about that.
Seems to me the active footwear should be more in line with swat style boots that protect the ankles and fortify the foot arches. But that's just me.

I like that there are many TOS design elements that were incorporated into the design - the red railing, the well in the center of the bridge with the raised helm platform, the arc layout of the controls on the outer stations, using the TOS outer stations displays of colored squares above the stations, the moire pattern in the screen panels of the turbolifts, the three-sided display on the conference table and the circular screen patterning.

I'm thrilled by that bridge and can't wait till someone comes along with a DAZ- model of it.

You need to whisper in Ashley's ear about that.

I've been drooling at the shots and was in awe in the episode, but hot damn that's going to take awhile to model. I've given modeling Discovery-esque interiors for awhile now but that Bridge... hot damn.

Didn't they use reproductions of the buttons supplied from Phase II/New Voyages for that bridge too?  There's a LOT to love in that bridge.

I believe the buttons came from Star Trek Set Tour people in Ticonderoga, NY. I live in upstate Central NY and went there a few years ago, they have done a great job recreating the Desilu set.

Working with PDSmith on a set, TOS, a Stateroom for over-rated officers or Admirals.  Building it on something of a budget, so it's going old school and not Disco.  Doing this in between texturing the male Phase II uniforms and contemplating my Sickbay set rebuild.

The room itself is rather large. I'm talking taking up most of the original Desilu Stage 9 large. Office, bedroom, large living room/gathering area, huge dining room, kitchen and bathroom.

Started with the 'kitchen' which consists of a food synthesizer, some shelves for decorations and other things, like the coffee maker.  The shelves are directly lifted in design from the ones in McCoy's Office in TOS.

Then I realized I needed buttons... and other things... for the walls.

And then I applied said buttons and a 'modern' flat panel widescreen that takes a bunch of design nods from the viewers used in TOS.
