It also helped getting Capturing the Brilliance of Light tutorial by QuadSpinner which I was lucky enough to be gifted to me. A big thanks to giver of that gift.

Adding to the previous list of credits the Grave Stone was made by Laticis (Thanks man), the sunken Boat from [url= http://www.daz3d.com/smugglers-keep]Smugglers Keep and Ivy made with the free [url= http://graphics.uni-konstanz.de/~luft/ivy_generator/]Ivy Generator

Jaderail you say the nicest things, I am touched. Hey why not hate me now instead of later....it only takes a moment. :P

Hate among the Drow is a more involved and rather ritualistic emotion, it takes some time to do it properly. :vampire:

Well, let me look in my day planner, Saturday, integrate captured Drow spy, Sunday, take family to Mysty lake for picnic, Monday, nope that's booked solid too. Okay I'll pencil it in here. Hate Pete the day after I kill Lolth and assume the thorn over all the Drow kingdoms. Hmmm... might have to push that back a bit too. Once I assume Leadership I plan to conquer the Realms of mankind. Think you'll be busy then?

for completeness sake I will post these here also.

All these are tutorial cover images that we plan to release in the near future with more planned. Most of them will be for newbies and after that we get into some intermediate tutorials. We won't be going in to content creation but more on how to use Daz Studio and content for rendering, including many of its tools. Think of them as extensions to the official Quick and Main user manual.

I told you before. Your use of light is very good. Credit where credit is due.

I watched Captain Harlock a couple of weeks ago. Its use of today's trendy black-as-a pit palette is typical. Blackness of space, shadowy space ship, and black clothes for all. The colors alone suck out what little light is available. Why put so much effort into a drawing, then darken it to where I can hardly see your work.

These renderings you've posted are all set in dark or dimly lit surroundings. But the entire scene is well illuminated, and it is entirely realistic. I can see every detail. Even your colors are bright. What a difference your approach to lighting would have made in Harlock. Many today are unable to work in a dark setting without darkening their subject. You have no trouble at all. You have a feel for it.

Thank you Rottenham, appreciate the comments.

One thing I have to stress though is that I work very hard in getting the light right...it doesn't come naturally...ok easier than when I started granted but it isn't often I get the light right first attempt. But my approach is from a composition side, What is the main subject, what mood do I want etc etc. After I answer those I get to work on placing the lights, one at a time and test render.

And since we giving credit where credit is due Val over on Dreamlight helped a lot with lighting some years ago when DS3 was current. I know he evokes mixed feelings with some here and I don't blame them, he is terrible when it comes to customer service but he sure does know his stuff when it comes to lighting. It does help with him being a cameraman for many years.

Also I can't stress enough how easy AOA's new lights are to use when you use flagging. I can light scenes and parts of scene as I want without worrying about light spill and stray shadows. Uber Lights are also good as you can adjust Shadow Strength and colour.

But those images were all done with DS default lights as I wanted to show what can be done without the need to buy new lights. Nothing worse than opening a tut and finding you need to buy more stuff..no not good at all.

I'm not surprised. Who would know better where the light belongs, than a cameraman.

I'm going to stay subscribed to this thread, and keep my eyes peeled for your tutorials.

    Thanks.

Thanks.WOW I had no idea how involved some of this is and how much I have yet to learn. Mind blowing. I have reassessed the order and what tutorials will be done. Some are nearly finished, some halfway and some just started. I got all organised this last week. got my house in order, PC maintained and cleaned. Now for the long haul....

...watch this space and any other spaces. I went and got a FB page...again...this time will be different. I will use it as a tool. I have had a Google + account for a while, bout time I started using that too. Anyway yes full steam ahead.

For intermediate level stuff sorry but that will have to wait. There is so much beginners stuff undocumented that gets asked on a daily basis I thought it best to start there. Once I have the planned newbie stuff done I will head on to the intermediate level tutorials. By then I should know it. :)

I will also be reworking and updating Uber Area Light and Point Light tutorials. What has been free before will stay that way even though in PDF and not on the forums. Some more freebies will come soon too also in PDF format.

I think you're doing lesson planning. Most of us don't even know that task exists, but it is necessary and time consuming. I've probably spent an extra year tutoring myself, because I wasn't sure what programs to study. I'm still not 100% sure. We know what we want to do, but we don't know how to go about it. Sometimes we don't even know what is possible. In school, the teacher figures that out for us before we show up.

Yep...lesson planning I suppose it is...yes. (I am not complaining as I like this doing this) What takes so long sometimes is getting all the steps in place in a logical order, going through the process myself and then filling it out with the info. That takes even longer for me with my lack of writing skills. Taking screenshots is pretty quick as I have little program that captures, numbers and saves them to a folder. Then mess with them in Photoshop making them pretty. :) Making visual reference aide images, learning how to do new things I come across, test it, understand it and then write it in PLAIN English.

Lucky for me another person does the PDF layouts and assembly work. He got some cool skills. We also have a very nice lady as a proofreader, slapping me with all the punctuation errors I make. :) Spot on proofreader if you ask me.

Don't be to harsh on yourself Szark, your tutorials are phenomenal. Probably because you take so much time to go threw it, rather then just rapid fire. I tried one vid last night, by the time I hit the pause to see where the guy was clicking, he was on the next thing. To be fair, not all vids are that bad, and some tutorials just keep coming back because there just that good (Like the Uber Lights one).

It just made me understand better the use of a point light and what the adjustments meant. I don't do DS lights to often so I applied the knowledge that I learned to my Poser lights. I use a lot more point lights now. I also never knew you could add a gel to a point light

You really should link to those tutorials in your sig

Well Fake Gels for normal point lights. :) Thanks for that it helps to see where I am going right and wrong.

Yeah I just might redo my sig to suit. But those are up for a rewrite soon anyways. :)
