The attention to details like this is very commendable!
Thanks. *I* love using these converters so much myself. When you are the programmer of the script, if something annoys you or you really want that one extra feature to make it more convenient... well, you just find yourself doing it
okay so I need to poke the Bear ...n your list of things to do RiverSoftArt is there still a G2F-G3F converter coming? or did I manage to miss it? cause I want it !! orrr should I do the G2 -G8 -G3 ........
You haven't missed it. It is still on the list. Though the popularity of the converters is going down every release (peak clothing saturation? ) so we will have to see if it keeps making sense.
Going down? But ..but.....but ... I bought them all ....... and I think that will happen until newer user realize that they can use the older generation clothing on the newer figures ..........but those of us who started back with Generation 3 or 4 would be really grateful ,well I am anyway .
And I really appreciate yours and everyone's support! The response from the community to this series has been phenomenal. But I do think there is almost a saturation, after you have just converted and add hundreds of new clothing items to your library, there isn't a burning need to convert hundreds more right now. For myself, I tend to love having a huge library of stuff; it makes my hoarding instincts happy!

Hoarding instincts, I can completely related to.
As for converting clothes, I understand you point. My character wardrobe versatily is at max. Now my mind is asking ... hair? and as someone else mentioned, morphs.
Hey, if you two end up releasing the G2-G3 (and others) on certain other sites, I would certainly snatch them up in a hurry. Having a wealth of options is always a good thing, especially since there’s some people who still use Genesis 2 and 3. :V
Anyhow, I bought both converters and mmmm so nice. There’s a lot of useful items from the Genesis era that still hold up (especially Luthbel’s stuff), so yay, new lease on life!

Looking at it practically, there were far fewer outfits made for Genesis than for any other generation, as it had almost no support from any site except DAZ... so given that there are less than half as many G1 outfits out there to potentially convert as there are for G2 or G3, I'd expect demand to be lower. Especially since there there's also the factor of anything prior to Genesis 3 not coming with ready-made Iray textures. Even with the hunders of Unimesh fits factored out, there are more V4 outfits out there than for anything else, so I think that one is a no-brainer if it's not technically too complex to produce in a reasonable period of time. Beyond that, the Genesis2s to Genesis3s are the ones I'd find most useful, as I still use the G3s more than the G8s.
The whole lack of Iray textures for anything older the Genesis 3 is one of the major reasons I personally prefer the older stuff . But I am getting better at adjusting surface stuff . I had the issue of things not showing up as clothing items so I went in and have resaved those now they show up and convert fine so far ......

Interesting. I sometimes forget about the textures.

I am glad it is working. I would have hated for you to work yourself up into a lather of impatience for nothing!
Got both on release day, and converted the Santa baby outfit, will try to transfer to my phone and upload them today, been spending too Much time transferring data off one of my failing hard drives I haven’t hardly been on studio or much of anything else aside from work and the hard drive, it seems to work great, I still cannot get shoes and boots to convert over well so need to work on those, they seem to go for but the legs are too far apart for the footwear :/

It should be working with the footwear. The script and conformers push/pull the clothing items so that they fit where G8 is.
There is an error in the script, which affects both the female and male versions of the product. The transfer rigging-figure space step is not happening in the script (except for footwear). Fixing this DRAMATICALLY improves gloves, bodysuits, anything on the extremities of the figures. The reason why it's noticable for males compared to the females product is that G8 male has large shoulders and arms, placed higher up, than Genesis. The shape difference with the arms/shoulders of G8 Female is substantially less. We are doing some internal testing right now. If it pans out, I will post the fix immediately as it looks like it is only one file and you would need the products to use it and then submit an official patch for Daz. You will need to reconvert shirts with arms, gloves, and bodysuits. I apologize for the error.
So, I've noticed that the converter prefers .DUF files as opposed to .DSE. There's a few non-Daz store clothings (some DZhengs from Rendo) that won't register with the converter due to the file format. Is there a workaround for this, by any chance?

No, there is not. However, DSEs are encrypted scripts. They would not be convertable anyway.

Actually, I think I did figure out a workaround on my own.
How you do this, is:
1) Open up a new scene and load the item -not the Genesis figure, just the clothing item in question-.
2) Go to File > Support Asset > Figure/Prop Asset
3) Set 'Content Type' to 'Follower > Wardrobe > [pick the type of item the clothing piece is; i.e. shirt, skirt, dress, etc)'. Set 'Compatability Base' to Genesis.
4) Save Item. As it'll be saved as a DUF, it won't overwrite the .DSE file.
5) Load G8F or G8M, and run the G1 to G8F/M converter, browsing to the directory/folder where you saved your DUF files
6) ???
7) Voila! Formerly unconvertable .DSE clothes are now wearable on G8, with all the benefits the converter brings.
I hope this helps someone who's had a similar issue!

Gasp. With over 500+ Genesis to G8F and G8M outfits converted, now I see this forum post that I'm going to have to redo them all. That was 4 days of work, converting, reconciling all the ones that didn't convert, forcing some to convert and manually autofit-converting others. :-(

Will this also fix the hemline of pants? As I've gone back through the pants I've converted, autofit does a better job than this script of getting the pant hemline correct on G8M.

When will DAZ put out an official update?
I don't know. Usually an update is quick so I hope this week. For the female, I wouldn't worry about it. For the male (if you have that version), you don't have to redo footwear and it won't even really improve shirts if they are short sleeves (so basically long-sleeve shirts/bodysuits and gloves)

I have both. I started with G1>G8F. When I spot-checked the outfits, they looked fine so I didn't bother to check G1>G8M until I saw this post. Some of the converted G8M footwear is not as good as autofit. I'll have to go through and check it all.

I installed the file you put in the OP. The script slowed down dramatically (1 minute per piece of clothing now). But, the arms do fit better than they did.
The rigging of capes converted to G8M isn't working properly for me. The movement is better with autofit, even just using the knee-length dress template. I tried the DAZ Medieval Cape, Bobbie25's Adarian Cape and the DAZ Platinum Club Night Guard Cape.
