    There goes the weekend!

Actually I haven't even caught up with the previous converters I bought...

Looks like you picked a bad week to stop... ? (movie reference laugh

  • Oh, and look, there is an M4 clothing sale along with it.  Will wonders never cease ;)

Actually there are a couple of unique items there I need to pick up now that they are useful.  Haven't loaded M4 in years.  There isn't much you can do to his head that doesn't make it look like M4.

I had to look it up. Thanks for the laugh, and thanks for the powerful tools and perpetually sunshiny disposition.

  • Just out of curiosity. I'm having to use the "force convert" more with M4 than I did when converting from say genesis to G8. Is this to be expected?

Also, I'm so glad DAZ updated how they organize items. Finding stuff is actually not easy in the old way.

How does tthis deal with necks, for example most of Xurges scifi suits have a high neck/Godet which never work well when autofitted and the figures head/neck is moved will this solve that problem?

    Thanks

so, in short, if i just want the easy way without having stuff double i can continue using SY Victoria 4 and Michael 4 Clones for Genesis 8 - if the item doesn't fit so well simply with the inbuilt G8 autofollow - but if i want new wardrobe items that fit at once, or if SY Victoria 4 and Michael 4 Clones for Genesis 8 doesn't bring good results, this would be the best option? is there a big quality difference in the final result between those 2 products (not counting the creation of new clothing obviously), i mean, can the difference be clearly seen once put on G8M?

except that there's no V4 option in this here, sadly ~
i wish more converters would cross gender, clones as well as UV tools (like i have awesome V4 textures i'd wish on G8M, but only the M4->G8M UV product...)

  • Ok Mr. RiverSoftArt and Ms SickleYield! Yes, you may very well have created a product I have hankered after for a very long time...which means I have also spent more money buying Micheal 4 products that I have been eyeing up for a long time, as well as spending my precious time off in the fitting room with a Genesis 8 clone, but has anyone told you to your face...how much we love you!?  Thank you for breathing new life into just about everything. Thank you for your contributions, your skill, your expertise, and your understanding of the community. It is very much appreciated.

I don't have anything by Xurges.  It will improve on Autofit but there can still be trouble if the clothing is expected to NOT move when the body does (for example shoulderpads).  Sometimes, you can use the Cape or Coat conformer which can help.

Yes, there is a difference but I don't know if it is huge difference.  I don't have the clones (before my time) to say more.   I do know that Sickleyield thinks this conversion process is magical smiley

Yes, force convert has to be done a LOT more than with later generations.  I didn't want to change the process as I think people are familiar with it now.  Also, force convert is meant to make you think about it before converting.

BTW, I know it sounds like a product plug but I find the RSSY 3DL to Iray product really helps with the shiny plasticy look of the materials.

Thanks for the remainder. I was in a hurry and have forgotten to apply your RSSY 3DL to Iray.

Has converted a bunt of the other outfits and most of them will benefit from changing of the materials.

I hadn't done any conversions yet though I purchased ALL of the converters. So much to learn (still haven't tried dForce either...lol ). Being away from Studio and the forums for so long makes me feel something of a beginner even though I've been doing this stuff for over twenty years.

So tonite I read the pdf, set up a runtime to install m4/v4 stuff for these conversions, informed Studio, and set up a directory for the results. Chose directory checked all then selected all and chose Force convert. Because of things I've read I decided to just go for it. And voila, everything worked and took under 15 minutes!

Will redo the shirt as skirt. The ivy worked great because it's all conforming. Didn't play with materials at all so ths is Poser stuff in iray....

So here's Puck for M4 which I'm sure everyone's forgotten about but it's one of my faves from older days. It's still available: https://www.daz3d.com/puck-for-m4-and-h4

There are two sets of textures: Horlamin and Figol and it's all Platinum Club.

Edited to add: Put the outfit on CeeJay for Genesis 8 male.

I've heard Xurges suits are really difficult to convert any which way you do it - plus all the problems with armour anyway. I've got several, this is my first attempt with the ATACS suit on M4 and G8 BUT I've not tried using the converter morphs or RiverSoftArts' suggestion of trying other conformers yet. Looking closely at the suit before transfer it has its issues - including a few bits of poke through even though I've used the base M4.

Be gentle with me, I've never posted an image here before! And sorry they're a bit dull, the materials are still the original PS versions.

No problem.  I am glad it has been helping.

Welcome!  Thanks for posting the images.  They look good though I do see the difference in the neck.

Ok here's another one, I tried to raise my game. Unfortunately mixing 3Delight and Iray surfaces up, and then I think I tried to render in 3Delight with Iray lights - which I think is what kept causing DAZ Studio to crash... Well you get the picture, not exactly competent yet. Only had DAZ to play with... well several years.

The Hardcore for M4 clothes converted way better than using autofit - except for the shirt which ends up as mush however I do it, which for the time being is why he's missing it. The boots distorted when I posed the figure - but I guess I could get round that easily enough by replacing with a later generation version or something similar that converts better. Happy to substitute bits to make the whole outfit work. The trousers, jacket, gloves and belts look pretty good to me, except I can't quite straighten that left side jacket edge (but you should see what a mess autofit does with it). At the moment a work in progress but this is just the kind of outfit I'd like to move over to G8.

That is a cool outfit.  I went and checked and I have it, so I am happy!  smiley  I found the shirt converted ok.  There is not much to it though.  The boots are meh as you indicated.  I used RSSY 3DL to Iray on the materials.
