All ecosystems in Studio use instancing, and so the overall scene loads in a breeze. Global Illumination light preset provided for best render results.
Comparisons between a test render with reflective water, one with murky water (and some dinosaurs), and one Lux render (done with Luxus which supports instancing).
Wow Alex this is a great piece of work!!!! Hope will be out very soon!!!!!!
This looks really nice...I have one question are the plants separate objects that can be moved to different places in the scene??
Thanks, should arrive soon, yes.
Hello, yes each plant is an individual object. Additiionally, each ecosystem is a separate piece too, see incoming images...
Very cool set!
Ecosystems are separate objects and can be loaded and dislocated differently, forming the landscape you like.
... more ecosystems...
Wow, that looks incredible. Poser-compatible by any chance, or DS only?
Hi, it's compatible with Poser 2010+ (Dedicated shaders, scene and props for
Poser are provided) and the render results are excellent in Poser too. However, since Poser doesn't support object instancing, longer load times, a 64bit system and plenty of RAM are required to handle such a complex environment (ergo the full Lost World scene).
While the full scene takes its toll in terms of time and resources, it’s of course possible to carefully plan the scene you want to create, and load only the individual ecosystems that are needed and viewable from camera. For example, you might create a scene that includes only the east and west cliffs, the north hill and beach: this way you’ll reduce lot of computer time and resources.
It looks cool! Then a lot of your stuff looks cool.
I really like the pictures you have posted here, I'll look out for this in the store.
But I have a related question. You use the word "ecosystem" in this thread. There is a certain other application (which I probably should not name here), that uses this word to describe a plugin that can distribute objects over a terrain partly randomly but also according to rules based on terrain height, slope, avoiding other objects and other stuff. Do you have a plugin for Daz Studio and/or Poser and/or Carrara that can do this?
This will be bought immediately. It looks wonderful! And I need more laregish scale environments.
Looks like a must-have set. Gorgeous.
I like it.
How does the water/scene look for closeups? In general, I tend to like to render closeup shots of characters and I don't do a lot of distance work.
I'll see about getting some close ups posted very soon.

If you are referencing Infinito (http://www.daz3d.com/infinito-1-0) then, yes, that is also Alessandro's work.
We are working on a new version of Infinito and things are looking good. No release date yet for the new version, though. LAMH and Infinito will work together to give a whole new level of creation abilities.

This will be a must have for me. It looks absolutely incredible. I've had Infinito since the beginning and LAMH too, but I've been waiting a year for the update to LAMH and even longer for Infinito both of which I put aside until updates are released. Truth be told I'm getting very very impatient and am actually surprised time has been spent on a new product before at least an update to LAMH is ready.

Join the All Customers Beta to play with the new LAMH version. http://bugzilla.look-at-my-hair.com
No one is more impatient than we are, trust me on this. LAMH is an incredibly complex product that is connected deeply to a few other complex products. DS being one of them. As you may have noticed, DS has moved forward with exciting new pieces. Unfortunately, these new pieces have an effect on LAMH and that has slowed us more than we like.
As for Alessandro releasing a new model. Everyone needs to look away from the "hard stuff" every so often for a breather. LAMH and Infinito are still being worked on while he's creating wonderful new models. Development has not ceased.
Kendall
Will the new infinito have the same activation system? I am a little confused about it. Does it have to be manually activated on every system?
It is a bit early to be discussing the next Infinito. We are redoing the activation/licensing system for LAMH and Infinito. Based on user input and failed attempts by pirates to distribute LAMH we have made some changes. The next LAMH will have a modified system that is more forgiving of system idiosyncrasies.
After that... we'll see what we can do. :-)
Kendall
if I get the LAHM can I use it right away? I know currently with Infinito it looks like I would have to wait in order to use it. Is that right?
LAMH's activation process takes only a few moments. Most users are using it within a few minutes of installation. If you run into problems, there are very few hours in the day where either Alessandro or myself are not available to assist.

I guess I can get at least five or six different hair styles from LAHM? Probably more than that.
Wow I am simply blow away by these images, it looks amazing! It reminds me a bit of the Avatar landscapes. This one definitely goes on my wishlist and I can't wait to try it out.
On topic though, Lost World looks really great. I think I might mix this up with the Pirate's Cove set by 3D Universe for a nice diverse set. I'll be keeping a watchful eye on this one :)
Actually all the ecosystems (i.e. vegetation) have been created using Infinito and painting vegetation props over the cliffs. As Kendall wrote, also Infinito is undergoing major changes and heading to a newer and more powerful version.

Sorry about the delays, but as Kendall explained, it's not that we've been sitting still. There are many projects being developed concurrently. LAMH and Infinito2 are the ones that take most of our work time. Regarding LAMH, believe me we've been working every and each day since XMas 2012, when first version was released. It's been now 10 months that we are working on a free update, and the beta is finally approaching release.
The time spent creating really a few models (since LAMH 1.0 arrived I've been able to develop only 3-4 models) has been minimal.

I wasn't thinking of Infinito. The one I was thinking about is not for Daz Studio and allows you to use rules, e.g. distribute objects randomly on a terrain but only put them where the slope is less than a certain value or the height is within a certain range etc.
Infinto does not seem to have all these features but it does look very interesting.
