One of the best sequences in the best Star Wars movie.  I had to plead with my wife to see it in the theater ... "Another space ship movie?" ... then when that big ship came down from the top of the screen, she was hooked.  Nice job, George Lucas.

Apparently, a typical teen's distorted self-image during puberty has inspired a Danish animated kid's show.

what do you think of the techniq of telling the story in flashbacks?

like the Firefly episode 'out of gas'.

they start the episode showing the capt on the floor, then they tell how it happened in flashbacks.
and does it work for a book?

    Firefly episode 'out of gas'

Apparently it worked there, given a 9.4 IMDB rating for that episode.

Flashbacks are also used a lot in the South Korean TV series I mentioned in another thread, "It's OK To Not Be OK", 8.7 at IMDB for the series overall.  In some cases, they are meant to show a character's thoughts as he or she remembers the earlier scene.

A variation is in Tom Stoppard's funny play "Rough Crossing".  At one point a character comes walking onstage and says something like, "What we need is somebody to explain what has happened ..." and then proceeds to explain what has happened.  .

RE: Danish children's show with Where's Waldo type character

I am trying to figure out if there have been no replies, or if all the replies violated the TOS and had to be removed.

Not sure if "I'm Thinking Of Ending Things" (6.6 at IMDB) is an inspiration for animation.  Direction and screenplay by Charlie Kaufman, so you might expect it to be a little weird, but ... wow.  Somebody said think "Psycho" blended with "Fight Club".  The reviewer at rogerebert.com (3.5 out of 4 stars) concluded: "I'm thinking that Kaufman's film may in part even be about the futility of trying to dissect works of art like this one. Let them wash over you. I’m thinking I should stop thinking things. If only."  I have to admit some of the scenes are very memorable.

I have at times thought about animating some of my more surreal dreams, but not sure my realistic inclinations are up to it.

    Some explanations here (SPOILERS!)

Not sure they are animation inspirations (lots of dialogue), but we've been watching some very good Netflix movies the last week or so:  "Easy A", "Trial Of The Chicago Seven", "Mank", "The Gift".  All get good reviews.
