Speaking of memorable tunes, here's one from an animation that inspires animation (7.8 @ IMDB):

Ought to be able to find some inspiration in the Library of Congress online music collections. Some are royalty free (have to check on an individual item basis).

Amazon has a DVD set with all 39 half hour episodes of "The Decoy" from 1957-58 (8.1 at IMDB) for $12. It features a female police officer in a very real NY City (they used actual 50's NYC locations, reportedly without permits). The 48 Hour Film contest has genres for "Detective/Cop" and "Crime" (the difference I think is point of view). Also "Film De Femme" meaning a strong female character. Here is a detailed review of the whole series, sounds like some good writing in some of the episodes.

I have never seen "The Decoy." Based on the blog post, I'm eager to see some episodes. I love the NYC background photos at the link.
And now for those of us who never grew up, here is a link to yet another Ray Harryhausen interview.

I've never been to NYC ... Philadelphia. Boston, Baltimore, Quebec, London ... but NYC has a true legendary status from all the movies, stories, etc. I read a book once about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge, a truly great story. Maybe an animation in there ...

What makes tiny singing ladies so cute?
Tiny singing ladies can definitely be cute.
I also find plenty of full-sized singing ladies quite attractive, especially when accompanied by flaming saxophones.
In my opinion, this was the best of the Harryhausen Sinbad movies.
+1 flaming sax
6 arm ladies

Cool. They've done a new CG version of Captain Scarlet - saw it on Prime the other night.
First time I've heard of it, but the original sounds interesting: "Characters are presented as marionette puppets alongside scale model sets and special effects in a filming technique that the Andersons termed "Supermarionation". This technology incorporated solenoid motors as a means of synchronising the puppet's lip movements with pre-recorded dialogue." Amd I thought Mimic for Carrara was a hassle ...
Best known of the Supermarionation shows was Thunderbirds. But they also did Stingray, Terrahawks, Fireball XL5 (back in the b&w days), and of course, Captain Scarlet.
Only thing the puppets couldn't do was walk through doorways . . .
Thunderbirds also got a CG reboot a few years ago, with WETA Digital doing much of the work.
Don’t forget 2004 movie, Team America: World Police. Easily the most offensive movie I have seen, starring marionettes.
I still have not watched that due to an incident where I was sent home from my brothers for discussing it (talking too much when it was on) when all of the people present had seen it multiple times anyway, and upsetting people (one person) was the weirdest situation I had ever experienced.
I was of course discussing politics and the Middle East and stuff this girl was totally ignorant on.
And incidentally the marionette stuff and Thunderbirds which I loved as a kid too, this bitch was trying to say it was new to this film,
The main issue was athis girl in her early twenties, niece of his GF who later screwed them over and they themselves complained about the very exact attitudes and behaviour she exhibited to me that day too but obviously only noticed it when aimed at them.
Not been able to bring myself to watch it since
I remember that movie - it was so bad it was laugh out loud funny; especially when you consider the 'great' actors in it!
I was trying to . . .
Here is a crossovr that I thought was fun.

Funny stuff. We get five straight Star Trek shows every night on one of the decimal channels (2.3): TOS, Next Gen, Deep Space 9, Voyager, and Enterprise. My wife like a couple of them, but she turns on early and we get some of TOS. Man, was that show hokey. Although it did have dialogue that is unforgettable. No matter how hard you try:
