...well, this is it, last week to file my UC claim before the end of the year and end of extended benefits. Looking for jobs during the holidays is almost pointless as everyone's mind is on other things, but still needed to send resumes out nonetheless.

Nothing in news yet of any emergency extension being pushed through. Guess the powers that be are busy trying to figure out if they can return all the coal they got in their stockings.

Hmm, stockings. Oh, you are talking holiday stockings, not nylon stockings. lol. I got my mind on female clothes for some reason. Good luck Kyoto Kid.

DanaTA reminded me that I have Dana for V4. Thanks for reminding me DanaTA. I should render her in Luxrender.

...it's also all or nothing for Green Bay as well later today. QB Aaron Rodgers in back and suddenly the sports writing world is calling the Packers the most "dangerous team" entering the playoffs. Amazing how one player can have such an effect.

Time for a little payback for what happened back in early November.

In Footy, Arsenal is back on the winning track after playing to a draw with Chelsea last week and a win today over Newcastle. Gunners are back on top but only by a slim margin (42) followed by Manchester City (41) and Chelsea (40). Liverpool which briefly was on top of the league, fell back to fifth (37) after being defeated by Chelsea today.

...Packers ahead 13 - 7 at the half. Chicago Defensive End Shea McClellin (the same player who broke Rodgers' collarbone on Nov 4th) was tagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when he led several fellow players in a late hit on Rodgers after the play was whistled over.

Makes me wonder if the Bears defence placed a bounty on taking Rodgers out again (like New Orleans did on QBs a few years ago).

is there anything at least p/t out there to keep you afloat? if you could break even and save your savings for emergencies

I need San Diego to win over Kansas City otherwise the Steelers make it into the playoffs. They are the luckiest SOB's on the planet. To make it into the plays off 4 things needed to happen. 3 are complete and in there favor. So far the 4th is falling into place for them

...ugh, three and out to start the second half and the punter kicks right to Hester who runs it back 49 yards. Chicago now threatening to score.

Need a turnover to get momentum back.

    ...bugger, now 14 - 13, Chicago ahead

...message to the Green Bay kicking squad: Do Not Kick the Ball to Devin Hester.

...not really. Not good at "people" jobs which is what most part time positions around here are (retail, restaurant, cafe, etc..). A lot of places don't care to hire older folks either these days as they feel either we will not apply ourselves as much as we are close to retirement and that we may ask for more than they care to pay. As I mentioned, there are regulations, but companies have many ways to sidestep them, especially in "at will" employment states like here.

Just read an article today that mentions we are basically undergoing a "jobless" recovery. Profits on Wall St. are up but new job creation is still fairly stagnant.

...meh, Green bay scores a TD to go ahead 20 -14, then all of a sudden "streaky" QB Jay Cutler has to look more like Aaron Rodgers - 68 yard pass play to the GB 1 yard line and next play, a touchdown. Chicago back up on top 21 - 20.

Why couldn't Cutler have a day like he had last week against Philadelphia?

Just saw the Browns fired their head coach.

Before I retired, my bosses were scared witless of the Iso inspectors. They always made sure I was on vacation or something when the inspections came up.
They must have been afraid I would tell the truth.

...wow, talk about literally clutching Victory from the Jaws of Defeat....

Three 4th down conversions the final a huge play for a touchdown with 32 seconds left in the game and Green Bay goes on top 33 - 28. Kickoff is taken by one Chicago player and pitched to the dangerous Devin Hester however this time no big return as he's tackled almost immediately afterwards. Momentum has shifted and Gren Bay's much maligned and banged up defence holds Chicago to a last ditch Hail Mary pass with seconds to go which is intercepted in the end zone by the Packers Game Over! Green Bay wins the NFC "Norris" division.

One of the keys was that Green Bay got one of their best wide receivers off the injured reserve list who scored two touchdowns the last one on a 4th down and 7 yard play that was the winning score.

Next week round one of the playoffs and Green bay being the #4 seed gets to host the game at Lambeau.

    Wow!

    Victory Shot!

A mob of squabbling parrots by day and a swarm of angry sounding fruitbats at night. Garden hose and wire broom are getting a good workout phew :)
