I'm not trying to be pesky- well, yeah, I am, it's my job- but I'm not seeing 50% marked in Sickleyield's store. What exactly do you mean by silent sale- not announced, or not showing at all unless you do a combination of the promo items? (Keeping you from your other projects is my goal in life today....)

That's funny, because keeping me from doing other projects has been my goal today too ;-)

Anyway the store sale works the same as the others on the Sales and Promo page. You have to purchase 2 of the new releases. The discount shows up in the cart.

It's silent as in we didn't announce it on the Sales and Promo. But it isn't exactly a secret.

is it just me or do the prices of new releases seem higher than usual even at the 30% off price? Even tho there are additional savings on them the sales are just too tough to figure out what is required for a discount ...seriously makes my head hurt. Novica I definitely compliment you on your persistence to make sense of it all :)

Thank you- persistent but it cost me a sale- the popup re: the glutes went off sale while I was trying to figure out the horse category. So everyone should note what was kindly pointed out- the sale only lasted TWO HOURS on that popup. Which btw, isn't fair to our overseas friends in a very different time zone. It should be repeated late tonight so they can also take advantage of it. (And ahem, also folks that were pondering their calculations and trying to make sense of things instead of checking out...)

Novica, you have way more patience that I do. Sales like this I just let them pass buy, but that's okay as it's good for me by keeping my addiction in check and my money in my pocket lol But I did make a purchase today but not related to any of the current sales.

Well, I think the sale pages are becoming more and more confusing. Sometimes I check in from my job using my smartphone or iPad.

Today, I saw "Horse Sale" in big bold (but nearly unreadable) font, and no actual graphics having to do with horse products.

It's a good thing those three ladies in the first row won't actually be offended. But outwitting the customer with design elements who's fancy isn't matched by logical flow; well that just makes it more difficult. I'm not always using my big screens...

I'm glad you saved money LOL- as for me, it's not patience per se, I was testing renders in between, and doing more than one thing. There were 2 horse things I didn't have so it made it worthwhile because it triggered 14% more and one item I had watched was in one of the 50% stores (so it went 64% off) That item was Old Cemetery which I know, seems like a piddly thing when spending so much time on this- but I had it wishlisted awhile. I think it's something to take a look at- the ground is really nice and the light set (with just changing the brightness) is pretty good by itself without adding lights. I got it for $5.56. Not bad for good ground, good lights, and a 180 degree sky panorama- and the props of course.

I posted it over in my thread but here it is- the default lights (no others added) with the main light turned down and the fill lights turned up and to a lighter blue. I will also post a closeup of Megan with just those lights. It's a huge closeup (2000 pixels) so will be a few minutes. Just wanted to point this product out as folks might miss it over on the other thread and it's a goody for lights, background, and ground. :)

Be sure to click to enlarge so you can see the details. Imagine what you could do by adding just one or two spotlights to make it pop- but I wanted to show JUST the default lights that came with Old Cemetery. None of them were moved, just the brightness changed- and this was only my FIRST TRY without spot rendering. (what you see in the viewport is pretty much what you'll get, just a little brighter. I like surfaces which light like that!)

Sorry to divert to a product, but wanted to explain my craziness of the day. (and just share a good product.) Closeup coming in about ten minutes showing how Old Cemetery lighting does on a closeup portrait (the tweaked settings used here.)

One other thing that is awesome- THE GROUND MOVES INDEPENDENTLY OF THE VEGETATION ON THE GROUND!
If you need to slide the ground over due to your camera angle, your grass and ivy stay put! I love that! How many times have you wished you could extend a ground plane but keep the flowers, grass, weeds, etc right where you want them by your character? This does that :)

This is just testing on Megan, no lights added, strength was changed but these are the default Old Cemetery lights. Put her in the middle of the scene (where the scene loaded.)

EDIT: PS- if you are not good with Depth Of Field, over in the art studio thread, I am going to post the DOF settings so you can do a shot like this with the background blurred out. I know some folks still have trouble with DOF. And this outfit is Street Mage for Genesis and Piranha Zipper Dress, kit bashed. Hair is Alysa, with Fabricator headband to match the pants (that are in shadow. Go figure.)

I'm afraid this sale has kind of lost me. In general I don't like the 'buy this get that' type of sales.

I hope year of the horse featured some much needed Horse 2 items- like a workable bridle and saddle with poses. To be honest, Horse 2 was a bit of dud without functioning equipment.

I do appreciate Predatron's sale though. that was nice. =-)

Just a note, in case you are buying two items and getting the 50%- ArtCollaborations has a nice barn product and also it's fun for lighting- Barn Yard! I've mentioned this a lot- you can really get a variety of lighting options by adding a light here and there or just changing the settings of the existing ones.

Edit: (This one I went with a smoky blue- normally the hands, etc would be more peachy.)

The free horse was yesterday's deal, and it should've shown up free in your cart when you had 2 new releases in your cart with it.

Oh, I'm afraid to even MENTION this- but...

I put 2 new things in the cart. (Sickle Tunic Rig / Bryonia)
I tested one horse thing. It gave me the 14% without having to buy 2 horse things. I just double checked, yes, you are supposed to buy 2.

    http://www.daz3d.com/horse/walking-trotting-cantering-galloping-and-jumping-actions-bundle

It started out right off the bat as 24.36 without a second horse product.
    39.95 minus 14% is -5.59 =34.36 minus 10.00 is 24.36

Go for it if you like it. (Can use it for animation keyframes btw)
And now I'll leave you alone, I did my deed for the day.

    Greetings,
Ah! SY was on a silent sale, that explains why when I added the unicorn to the two items I was getting yesterday, it came up free! 50% off + 14% off + $10 off well and thorough(bred)ly took care of one of my wishlist items...

The mil-horse is free, exactly the way 'buy one, get one free' items are. If you already have the intention of buying X, then Y is really free. It wasn't cheating, it's qualified, but clearly. That said, I've seen some folks get into very bad blood over this stuff. I never really got the 'punish them for every copy-writing slip-up' mindset, but I've seen it everywhere, not just here.

I got an awesome deal yesterday, for which I'm very happy.

Well, not quite. Something to possibly note on that same order-
In the 50% off store of Artemis, (I bought 2 new releases so I get 50%) why would a 12.95 item be $5.56?
There's no additional 14% because I did not get 2 horse items (even though it did it on the canter/etc bundle. We KNOW that was a goof.)
    12.95 x .50= 6.48. I am getting it 92 cents cheaper.
So just thought you might want to keep an eye on your cart to make sure it's working right.

http://www.daz3d.com/rapture-for-victoria-4-and-genesis was the product that came up at 5.56 when 2 new releases in the cart (plus one horse one.)

Free is different than free with purchase. The horse was free with purchase. Yes, you had to buy something, but the horse itself was free.

You don't need any horse items for the extra 14% off the entire store. Read the banner again.
"Buy 2 ore more new releases & get:

    $10 off horse category
    AND
    50% off selected artist stores
    AND
    14% off the entire store
    AND
    free Mil Horse"

    12.95*.86=11.14
    11.14*.5=5.57

I can see why the marketing gimmick doesn't set well, even though it is explained. It's a lure, a promise of something without cost, at the top of the page, to get you to explore further. And I'm thinking about those folks on their ipads and phones, since that was mentioned, how that must really stand out for them too. I guess it's best to think about department stores saying "Buy one, get one free." It is a common practice. But I can empathize with the frustration.

Seriously, this entire deal is somewhat whacked with its changing rules. I translated the rules for the German language thread yesterday morning Europe time, so I looked at them very closely. When I come for the update today, I see that they changed the foot notes about "not eligible for return", and "new items".
Makes me wonder now how often per day I have to check out the rules to see if some thing or the other in the rules has been changed.
    :-(

Haha yea. It really is a stupid name for the promotion. You'd think the new items would be horse related in the first place. o_O

What threw me off is that when you click the banner at the top of the page (EDIT- referencing the 14%), it drops you down TO the horse products. So duh, I thought that was what they were referencing. Not the most brilliant layout...and that's my excuse :) (Sound good?) Thanks for pointing out my goof, hopefully it will help others to understand the sale better too.

When I click that 14% portion, it drops me down to where the 2 boxes are. The left one says 14% off the entire store and the right one says free mil horse. They both have red shop now buttons on them.
