It seems to me that more and more sales have the not returnable policy included this alone makes me stop spending, so many things I've bought recently are faulty, if I buy them under these 'new' sales I'm stuck with them, I just feel that this is a way of slowly getting rid of the 30 days return policy.
As for hidden sales well, how dumb is that.
By the time I do have some money I'll be so fed up with seeing these shenanigan sales that I'm likely to spend elsewhere - it will at least be more straight forward.

Also I've heard the 'won't be cheaper' enough times to know that sooner or later, usually not that much later, it actually will be cheaper.

Blame the buy X to get Y strategy. If you buy X and Y, but return X, you essentially got Y for a sale price that you are no longer entitled to.

I think they should just do away with these X -> Y sales.

One other thing that is awesome- THE GROUND MOVES INDEPENDENTLY OF THE VEGETATION ON THE GROUND!
If you need to slide the ground over due to your camera angle, your grass and ivy stay put! I love that! How many times have you wished you could extend a ground plane but keep the flowers, grass, weeds, etc right where you want them by your character? This does that :)

Yeah I have a couple of grounds that I can move like that and they are awesome although when i bought them at the time i didn't know they could do that :red:. But I would rather have a straight 50% or 60% off, That being said I Have been know to do just what you did if it was something I really really wanted :cheese: but not a sale with this many options lol

I agree I dislike the buy something to get something discounted sales. But it obviously works for DAZ as they keep having them.

Well, one good thing- I tested the horse sale by putting the espresso machine and the inked volume 2 in my cart, and the griffin wings, and the bedroom set by Dreamlight.

I then added a 200 dollar gift card. The discount applied to the gift card, and the total was 197.00 and some change.

So for those who use gift cards now is the time to buy one if you want anything from the horse sale.

Hmm according to the rotating banner Dreamlight's store is supposed to be 50% off independently of this sale but it doesn't seem to be showing in his store.

It worked when I added the bed set to my cart.

I don't see a discount when I add dreamlight stuff to the cart. If I add two horse items then I see the 50% discount which is related to the horse sale but I'm not seeing the discount which is being advertised on the banner.

The name of the sale is "Year of the Horse" because... well, we're celebrating the Chinese New Year, and this year is the year of the horse.

However, you don't need to buy two horse items to get the discount as has been stated previously in this thread. Everything hinges on you buying two new releases.

Look at the top of the sales and promo page, it will tell you what you need to do to get the discounts (which can be very steep). All you need to do is buy two new releases and it unlocks discounts for the entire store* (14%), for select artists sales* (50%), the Millennium Horse (100%), and the Horse Category ($10). Also for today only (January 31st, 2014) if you also get this product for free: http://www.daz3d.com/horse-accessories if you buy two new releases.

Everything that you want the discount to apply to must be in the cart at the SAME TIME as the new releases for the discount to apply.

    *Excludes New Releases

**Edit** I just checked the dreamlight discount and it is indeed working. Make sure you have 2 of the New Releases in your cart other wise it won't trigger the discount. Also remember that it excludes new releases from Dreamlight, so if the item has the "New" tag on it, you won't see a discount.

Hmm you are right. In this case the banner is misleading. It seems to be a regular 'flash' style banner, however the trick is the sale is contingent on buying 2 new releases.

    That is SO NOT COOL!
You don't do flash sales and store sales in that rotating banner and then insert a promo banner requiring buying two releases without stating that.

I bet the marketing teams' tactics would change if THEY were the ones who were accountable to answer all the questions on the forums from the havoc they wreak. (And Jared would be grinning ear to ear as he says, "This one is ALL YOURS," and sits back, working on his other projects...)

I'm not talking about the promortion page I'm talking about the banner ad that is on the main store page, which indicates that Dreamlight's store is on a 50% sale. If it is dependent on the horse sale, why is there a banner for that store and none of the other vendors? Do their stores not also rate banners? I find it very misleading, particularly as there is a banner for Preadtron's 50% store sale which is not dependent on horsey business.

The image wasn't supposed to be the Dreamlight image. We have a separate banner for the Year of the Horse. That is the banner you should be seeing, not the Dreamlight banner. It should be fixed now.

Can someone please explain what a "silent sale" is? Maybe my memory is slipping, but I don't recall ever seeing that term used on this site before.

It's a term I made up yesterday to explain why SickleYield was on sale, but there was no announcement for it. It's kind of unprecedented.

**Edit** Ok, I didn't make up the term. But this is the first time we've done a Silent Sale, so this would be the first time you would have heard the term.

I stopped expecting any sort of "cool" in DAZ sales when they popped up with one a day or two after "snowball of savings" that covered the same stuff and was slightly better than the very highest reward level from "snowball".

Hmm, I must have missed those then. (Figures. Or I just don't remember.) Time to be a cheerleader (I know, hold your hearts...)
I know I personally haven't gotten any better deals than when I was at the highest snowball level-At 50% and the day they upped it 10% more, I was getting 60% on top of stacking discounts so prices on quite a few things were 30% or 40% and THEN I got 60% off that. I haven't seen anything come close to that after the Snowball sale. (If your total was 10.00 it would be whacked down to $2.80 and that's only with the 30%. It would be $2.40 with 40% starting sale with the 60% stacking.) There haven't been any newer products (not talking PClub) that gave 76% discounts have there? And wasn't there additional codes too? I think there were (buy $50 get $10 off, etc.) I know I felt like I was robbing the bank on some of the orders!

I think DAZ is experimenting and happy to see them do that, there are going to be hit and misses- but I'd like to see sales where folks who budget (and those who don't) can get in on the incredible deals without having to buy other products to get them. This was a LOT better than last year where you didn't know what product would be coming the next day, and you had to buy the previous day to get a better discount on that following day. YUCK. We at least had a lot of product choices and there were many family friendly items FINALLY.

Ok, off my soapbox. Back to this sale. I like the variety except....MEN MEN MEN and men's outfits. Please!!!!
