Well FINALLY got Rynne to behave and show up. Had to reinstall, shut down the studio, yada yada. She's already in the list with Josephene.
I don't like Josephene's line in the middle of her nose. Even with 50/50 with Rynne, it's still very noticeable. 

Rynne's materials look really chalky to me (but that's the character.)  Again, I'm using the same light on all these, without adjusting to make characters look better.

Yes.

I'd look, but I'm rendering right now. I suspect the difference is in the normal maps, which will fake the displacement so they "catch light and make shadows" but if you could look at it from an angle, the mesh would be smooth, wrinkle free.

I actually remember why I bought Dwayne. He's required for Brandon, who I do like. When I put items in the cart I want, and the price is close to or more than the bundle, I go for the bundle. And I wanted the Variety Facial Hair from RedzStudio. I've since kitbashed from a couple of the wardrobe items. It wasn't a bad value overall, even without wanting Dwayne per se.

I don't know if everyone knows this but I thought I would pass this on anyway. 

Do you want like frosted glass?

Load the Thin Glass Shader to a Primitive Plane.

Change Base Mixing to Specular/Glossiness, Base Colour to White and use the Glossiness slider to set the amount of frosting.

If you want to colour the glass then turn Share Glossy Inputs to OFF and use Refraction Colour to tint the glass.

I'm having to re-render what I'm working on. I forgot to put a smile on her! 

FYI the smile setting I am using is Inaru Smile 45.4,  Misumi Smile 14.8,   Mouth>Smile Simple  18.4

What are you folks using? The smiles all look good :)

This is The Brute 8 50% and Vladimir 8 50%. Both renders use the no-brow version of the character's materials, and Vladimir's fiber mesh brows. I used Redz's Super Natural Brows to color those brown. The hair is SP Hair 004 for G3M/G8M.

Materials: The Brute default load with No-Brow face, Low Translucency.

The Brute materials suffer from the same issue I see with a lot of teeth. Normally I'd replace those. Vlad's teeth look much better out of the box.

Vladimir apparently has shadows on the textures, as the creases between his cheeks and mouth don't actually line up with those on the texture. I suspect that will always be an issue when using an older character's skin, though.

I really liked this combination, using The Brute materials.

Well, I made a pair of renders for this. I still emphasized the head but they ain't driver's license headshots.

One thing to notice regarding the skin materials. DO flagship character (a) is The Girl 8 and character (b) is Mabel 8: there is a big improvement to how DAZ Studio handles skin materials when set up for new iRay skin materials for Genesis 8 humans.

So you'll notice in my renders than The Girl 8 with her default skin materials, even with the 'low translucency' preset settings to make her render lighter colored are still far darker by orders of magnitude than the advertising renders on The Girl 8 product page. If you notice those renders are made with HRDIs that are completely blown out lighting wise. So no, it's not your imagination and it's the same problem MemNeil70 was speaking of about a few pages back on this tread.

Compare how The Girl 8 skin materials renders in my scene with how the Mabel 8 skin materials render. The Mabel 8 skin materials actual render pretty close to the product page renders' skin tones.

@nonesuch00   I added yours to the list :)  That pose is just darned cute and a belated Happy Easter to you, too. 
It's going on 5am here so I'm headed to bed, I have a Walmart order to pick up at 9am so need to get a couple hours sleep. Won't be back online till late afternoon as I'm going back to sleep after I get the groceries. Folks were looking at me weird after I left the drugstore and put everything on the car of my hood, then I wiped every single bag down top to bottom with a Clorox wipe. That virus lives on plastic for what, three days? (cardboard is 24 hours.)  I wasn't putting anything in my car until I wiped it down!

So I watched everyone else just doing their normal thing, throwing bags in the car, hopping in, driving off- as I am still standing there outside my car, Clorox wiping my car fob, the car door handle, and my steering wheel.

Bottom line- I'd rather be me than them in about five days to two weeks...I'm not going to be near as worried as they SHOULD be.

I went into my files and cross-checked against the reported list of who has been renderd or is scheduled and found the following G8 Core characters are still available:

G8M Core: Edward 8, Jonanthan 8, Landon 8, Tobyn 8, Tristan 8

(I went off the last listing Novica posted just above.) I hope this is helpful for anyone looking for ideas.

I also find it interesting the characters that were used twice and the one that was used three times (Vladimir 8).

I mixed Michael 8 and Silas 8 and put Varun Hair on them. I dialed the HD morphs up to 50 % on both. I will be honest that Michael 8 is one of my least liked characters, just behind Michael 7. But, adding Silas 8 to him really fixed whatever it was that 'irked' me. This exercise has been a great learning tool. I left the lights alone at the standard set by Novica, but if I was rendering with Michael's skin for myself, I would adjust them so he wasn't quiet so washed out. I also found myself wishing to use Altern 8 to help it.

I use Expression Mixer to randomly generate a new smile for every character pair. I just randomize over and over until I get something I like with teeth exposed. Expression Mixer is one of my favorite utilities.

My next pair is Elios 8 with Lee 8 (I know, used, but I love Lee!) and Sanjay hair. Lee doesn't come with fibermesh brows, so I used Super Natural Brows and then used the sliders to nudge them into place as best I could without moving the camera or character. If you look at the lips on the different renders the lips have different shapes. Odd.

My next pair for the morning are Mr Woo 8 and Yuzuru 8 wearing Super Messy Updo Hair. For Yuzuru, since he doesn't come with eyebrows and barely has any painted ones, I used Kyoji's eyebrows which fit very nicely. Yuzuru also doesn't have an HD add-on, so Mr Woo or another who does, might give him some detail if you want to bring him into a more realistic style.
