Love the conversions, and those eyes are so expressive!

Congrats to @melaniel for the PC+ Inspirations Contest win!  Sunny Corner is delightful!

@fishtales: love the green, mossy dude in particular!

Went to Walmart yesterday evening (pickup) and on the way there, saw MASSIVE trees totally uprooted. Huge root balls. It was amazing. So if they were straight line winds, or a tornado, I don't know yet, but they were about a mile and a half from home.

    Thanks, Novica.

Those trees going down sounds bad - you were lucky it didn't hit you.

Thank you. I am slowly working through a lot of old stuff and converting it to Iray. I did a load of animals but there are too many to post so I made a few PDFs of them. There are three but one of them is too big for the forum.

I'm not buying hardly anything anymore, didn't even pick up the last male bundle. Not grabbing this female one either. I don't like the Pro Bundle items, but one thing I think is fun and funky is the Galactic Empress Hair Styles    Congrats to our friends @llynara  @divamakeup  for thinking outside the box and giving us something unique.

Those are pretty neat. They remind me of some of the alien female hairstyles seen in Marvel Comics in the Fantastic Four.

I'm probably the opposite. The deals have been great and I've pretty much liked enough in the Pro bundles to get them. But I also want to err on the side of income for Daz and the artists. I'd like them to all be around when this is over.

That said... I love the Alawa 8 character itself - she's really well-done with a flexible ethnicity that I adore - and some of her addon characters are also nicely done. I just wish the bundle's outfits weren't quite so stereotypical Daz scifi.

I'm going to add my kudos to yours for the hair, though. That is epic!  Trying to decide about only getting Alawa 8, Selah, the hair, and addons, or just throwing in the towel and getting the entire bundle. Time to pull out the calculator.

@fishtales Could you please tell me the process you use to convert your old products into Iray?  I have a lot of old products I'd like to try to convert.

    Thank you!

@Novica. Glad you are safe!  How many miles away would that have been from the Cantonment area?

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,895

@jewels99  Cantonment and Pensacola (the entire area) got hit with a line that moved through at 75mph. So literally everyone had 60-75mph (or more) winds. Driving time it takes about 25 minutes to head over to Cantoment general area I think, from Pace/Milton area. There's trees down quite a few places, but like any tornadoes (and none have been confirmed here I don't think) you'll have a huge tree down, then nothing in the surrounding blocks. My poor 7 foot Anise bush/tree had a limb splinter that was about 1 1/2 to 2" wide, the surrounding bushes nothing. The HUGE oak right next to it, not a branch bothered. Definitely a roar when that line went through.

Talked to the barn owner about half an hour ago, wind was so strong it blew boards off the fence! WOW. (All horses were inside in their stalls, they come in every night. And the doors were shut on each end of the barn, etc. Stetson is great during storms.)  No trees down though.

And round 2 tomorrow. But Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia seem to be in the crosshairs- again. It's going to be a daytime event, so we'll see tomorrow!  Stetson and the other horses will be brought in. :)

    +1

I've got so much stuff now, I don't really need to buy anything. Of course, I still do, but not so much as I use to. I took advantage of yesterday's 50% off coupon, though I only bought 3 things, not 5. I've been waiting for Silent Winter's trophy product specifically for the metal shaders. I used that to discount the items in the cart, (including SW's Chess for G8!) and then applied the coupon.

And to be honest, I don't really do the type of scenes where the Galactic Empress hair would be used. But the product is so unique and well done, and the vendors are part of our family in this thread, I added it to my wishlist for now. I expect I'll pick it up before Alawa promo expires.

    Thank you!

After I load them I select them in the Scene Tab, go to the Surface Tab and select all the surfaces and the run the Iray Uber Shader on them. Once that is done then I go through all the surfaces and change settings to get the surfaces looking how a I want them. I then save as a Character Preset for People and Animals and as a materials Preset for objects such as Transport and Environments. Occasionally I can save some surfaces as a Shader Preset for Skins.

@jewels99   I created a Category for the Uber Shader (you right click on it,  then Create A Category) This makes it easy to find, otherwise you have to do the Shader Preset route. (next line) So I only have to go to Categories in Content Library. If you make a category, anything you put ! in front of (exclamation mark) will be at the top of your list(s)

You'll find the Uber Base in Content Library under Shader Presets>Iray>Daz Uber then you'll see Iray Uber Base as the first option. :)

Right click on the Uber Base Shader icon and choose Create Custom Action and it will add it to the Scripts Menu at the top of the Studio window. If there isn't a Script Menu it will be created. All you have to do then is go to the script menu select the Iray Uber Base action and it will load it into the surfaces that you have selected, no need to look through the Library for it. I have quite a few things in that menu that I use on a regular basis and it saves looking through the Library for them, e.g the Glass and Water Shaders, the Now Crowd scripts and Michael 4 because I can never find him when I am looking for him :). There are a few others but those are the main ones.

@jewels99 the uber shaders work well and can take a little more time. So, i picked up the 3Delight to Iray convert from RSSY https://www.daz3d.com/rssy-3delight-to-iray-converter you run scan on your project and select what Items you want converted. After that you can get into finer detail on the surfaces.

That's a sweet thing to wake up to - a shout out from you! :D Thank you, @Novica ! And thank you so much @L'Adair and the others who have commented on the Galactic Empress hair! You all have made my day!

I wanted to bring something unique to the table and had a lot of fun making the hair. I'm super blessed to have @Llynara who helped me a lot with the beta testing and who created some gorgeous promos! :D

Hey folks, just saw a news article confirming we did indeed have a tornado here in Pace, but the two trees just minutes from us were downed in 80mph winds according to NWS. (Oh, like that makes it so much better LOL)

Anyway want to share an interesting face mask company who used 1200+ pounds of plastic recycled from the ocean to make non-profit face masks (they cost just slightly over $20 and include 5 carbon filters!)  I just ordered two, one for me and one for my son who is going to have to go to those dental appointments. Look up padigear and it's a dotcom. I bought two masks, two sets of replacement filters, and the shipping was 14.00 (which is slightly high, I THINK those masks would fit in a $8 small priority box, but with the filters, maybe not.)

For a mask and five carbon filters, $20 does indeed seem to be the cost of making it (paying employees to do so, recycling the plastic, and materials including the charcoal filters.)  Just thought you might like to consider it, they've already got 15,000 orders but are trying to get orders from today (23rd) made by the 27th or within a week probably after that. Reasonable IMO.

I got the dark scuba diver/manta ray for my son as it looks like a camo pattern and is dark. I got the white with blue sharks (dotted) for me. Love that pattern! And really looks at home here in Florida!

@fishtales  That lighting is excellent, gives it a realistic, photo effect. Absolutely love that dappling sunlight coming through in the first one!

That is the HDRI from the Yosemite Pro set 2 and the Distant light left in from the same set. The dapple shade is only the background there isn't anything else in the scene  :)

That time of year. We had a storm come through April 8th with a tornado warning. Lot's of branches down and a section of fence. Last week the weather service published their report and the path of an EF-0 : it went 2 blocks south of us.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,895

@rgcincy  That's way too close for comfort. There's 3 on the ground right now about an hour north of here, in Florida and Alabama. I think most of it will be north of here for this first round. The news is saying another round may be coming. It's sad as the COVID testing sites are having to close down today.

And they're already out of stock! See, it pays to shop at 4am in the morning. Since I spotted those on CNN, it's not surprising a lot of folks checked it out. You can get notified when they make the next batch though. So glad I ordered!  (The dark one that kinda looks like camo is still available though. Edit- now sold out too.)

Quick render wirh Alawa and the Greenmarch Ranger outfit. First, kudos for the outfit being a practical one*... flat boots and all. There is some pokethrough between layers of clothing here and there in this pose, which should be fixable.

And, though bow/arrow are one item, the arrow is on the correct side of the bow (yay! ... pet peeve). The pose is from another bow, and had to be adapted (including taking the limits off Alawa's right shoulder), it is not quite accurate yet. The bow was easy to position once I had set the pivot point to be actually in the bow itself rather than at social distancing distance away from it (a trick that is applicable to many more things; I might even remember it...)

*although I'm not quite sure the sword attached to the quiver upside down like that would actually work.
