I just received a newsmail from DAZ saying

The Celebration Continues!
For limited time get both the Victoria 6 Base and DSON Importer for Poser FREE

But when I add V6 to my basket, she costs 19.98.
What's up with that?

Perhaps the mail was sent premature? Today's mail was about 80% on V5 related stuff...
Either that, or the shop's botched again. I'd recommend either waiting until DAZ office time to see if it gets fixed, or straight filing a support ticket.

I didn't get that email. (Not a surprise - DAZ3D sends different emails to different people. The email I got mentioned gift cards.)

There's something planned for V6 Base and the DSON importer; the two products have their own store category at the moment.

That's exactly the place my mail links to, robkelk.
They probably sent the mail too soon. :S

Oh well, it would be typical. A 50% sale on V6 one day and the next day she turns free . I'd save the email somewhere safe (I programmed my mailbox to get all DAZ, Rendo and RDNA stuff into a separate folder) and wait a bit. By the way, is this allowed to show the email or not?

There are often targeted offers, which are only sent to the target group, and will not work for others. Therefore sharing emails of this sort with others is pretty much pointless if it is not meant as a general email but is indeed a targeted offer.

This was a targeted offer. Most customers would not have received an email offering V6 for free. Specifically, we want to make sure that everyone has a chance to try out Genesis 2. So, anyone who has made purchases, but has not purchased any Genesis 2 characters yet would have gotten the emailed offer. Only those people included in that customer segment would get the discount (100% off the item). I just tested again, and verified that anyone who is in that segment, and matches that criteria is working fine. If you got the message from someone else, that would be why it's not working. If that's not the case, please contact support and let them know that Steve said we owe you a free V6 :) (of course, we'll check to see if you've ever made a Genesis 2 purchase when you ask ;)

    Thanks all!

    Interesting.

Does it mean you're checking if we bought V6/M6/G6/S6/A6/Gianni/Gia/O6/Josie/Jayden and send the emails based off this data? What about people who own FW Darc from 2013 Christmas PAs Giveaway, but didn't get any Generation 6 FIGURES yet? Would they count or not?

It would have excluded anyone who has purchased ay figure that is compatible with genesis 2 male or genesis 2 female. Again, the purpose behind this is to ensure that anyone who has not yet had a chance to see how amazing Genesis 2 characters are gets a chance to do so, and celebrate with Victoria 6 for her birthday :)

A figure or a morph? A figure compatible with Gen2F is Olympia, a figure compatible with Gen2M is Gianni (just examples). A morph compatible with Gen2F can be Cassia for Olympia, a morph compatible with Gen2M can be Ryze for Gianni. So are morphs counted in?

I stucked at the same problem here.
If you recieved the mail, put Both!!! V6 Basic AND the DSON Importer in your Basket, the final sales Price should trop to 0,00 ... without the DSON Importer your don't get V6 for free.
If you don't recieved the mail with the free offer - you on your one :-( ...
Source: I've an account for my productive stuff and another one just to view in lessons. So I got two different mails todays ...

Given that their goal was to promote the use of Genesis 2 figures, I'd assume it means pretty much any character, considering they're all just morphs of the base anyway. It's quite a nice idea, and I'd be interested to see whether it's enough to wean off long term Gen 4 users.

So, Herald, you assume a person who got FW Darc during the giveaway will not get the offer? Oh well, back to my sweet Genesis then...

Its not for me .. I tried genesis 2 figures have many types of characters and i stopped buying them, because at this time they are not very animation friendly for my needs , but like i said for MY needs, someone else "needs" as a noob or just doing still graphics genesis 2 figures are great.. They just not great enough for me at this time to invest my money into them, there is not enough products to support animation with g2f or g2m figures. there is no DAZ SDK to develope tools or effects for daz 4.6 that I have seen so I can try to make my own . so I'm kind of in limbo waiting to see what is next that might change my mind ,

Its this type of promo that is defeating the credibility of PC and launch promos as offering best value.

I don't see anything wrong with it. It gives users that haven't bought into GF2 yet a chance at V6. I don't have V6, but have a bit of GF2 content and would have jumped at this offer, but I am cool with not being the targeted customer. hope to see more targeted sales, maybe I'll qualify for one.

As a consumer, I don't see anything wrong with free stuff either. I was pointing out the some of the collateral damage from a business perspective of such decisions. Just one aspect of the fallout of targeted offerings like giving away premium products - is that it makes early adopters feel duped...damaging credibility to the most valued segment of consumers. DS4Pro going free demonstrated this effect.

Hard not to agree with you... That's why I don't buy stuff in the first day. Except for freebies, of course .

We're in the same boat. I think giving away Genesis stuff is getting inevitably close. I can wait...

One other thing I noticed with Target marketing is that once you have a Gift Card balance, the "special" discount offerings vanish.

REALLY? Why? I don't get it. A person with gift card balance is a bound customer, DAZ should nurture those people who have a few bucks as the balance, because you can't use that money for anything outside the shop.

Sorry... I don't normally rise to the bait.. But as a person who designs and reviews the offers I have to say that this is ludicrous.

Well it _should_ work that way however when you sell a gift card the margin left over to support further discounts gets mighty thin. For this reason target marketing instruments are used to limit risk while maximizing opportunity. However selective marketing does contribute to mass brand recognition & confidence building to the same level of effectiveness as general advertising can. Its a powerful tool that needs to be used judiciously, because it masked perceptions of values changes the dynamics to a poker game with the consumer. When you play that game, segmentation and communication control is key as you don't want them to catch you bluffing or learn your tells.

This is just my experience and perception. Perhaps you don't exclude GC balance holders from special sales/targeted marketing opportunities. I have purchased a number of GC's past 6 months to get a deal and because the some of the spring promos (complexity) don't work for me. I'm a PC member and about prior to 6 months ago I would get weekly newsletter and email ed $6 off coupons for 30 spent almost every week. Then Sept - Nov PC extravaganza sales kept me preoccupied. But since, I bought several large GC and have not seen a newsletter nor special offer in my message box in a LOOONG time. Not complaining but I put 2+2 together plus a few other observations and assumed this was happening. Could understand if it does, too. Either way I apologize if I made an unfounded charge. Thanks for your efforts and letting us know how it works.

Again, I can state as an absolute authority on the subject: DAZ does NOT restrict targeted offers from people with Gift cards. This is simply not true and baseless.

I have no problem with the targeted offers - sometimes I'm in their audience, sometimes I'm not. When I get one it's awesome, when I don't I'm still happy for those who do.

I don't mind not getting an email for a free V6 because honestly I'm not interested - I might someday grab M6, you know in a few years when his pro bundle gets offered free to celebrate Genesis 9 coming out.

As a person who doesn't support Genesis 2 and did not receive this offer, the only thing about it that bothers me is knowing that DAZ has a list of customers who refuse to participate in this whole Genesis 2 thing and I'm not on it... :-/

As someone who regularly has a large GC or Store credit balance, which is added to regularly to facilitate saving for the larger sales and such. I have to add my 0.2p I have received several targeted emails, when I have qualified for the target group.
