Oh well, who knows how are the targeted offers targeted... I have a render in mind about that: "spin the bottle, guys"!
Well I've done some drunken clicking in the store recently but as far as I can tell I've not purchased a single G2 figure, character, creature, morph, wotevah. Maybe a clothing item with G1 and G2 versions included? I'd love to know if I've inadvertently picked up a G2 (wotevah) to try out.
Speaking of "a chance to see how amazing Genesis 2 characters are", by strange coincidence I spent my lunch-twelve-minutes today rummaging the DAZ product pages in an attempt to learn about them. I clicked on the Genesis link but things seemed oddly familiar. From there I clicked on the Victoria link, and...

Latest and greatest?
As a Bryce user I've become accustomed to tumbleweed when it comes to updates, but it still came as a surprise to see DAZ neglecting the bread and butter. Guys, you need to showcase your newest and best to prospective customers who are actually exploring your website. Relying on emails and store churn (i.e. established customers) to promote new releases is subjecting yourselves to the law of diminishing returns.
Same thing here. I've never bought any Genesis stuff. The email said free - it loaded into cart for $19.95.
What do they say about free lunch?
Oh well...I'll just stick with V4
V4 base and M4 base for free was a great idea, I ended up buying a significant amount of content I otherwise wouldn't have looked at. V6 for free for a handful of users and $19.95 for the rest of us on the fence makes me want to walk away from that fence. The only cost to Daz by making the Gen6 figure bases free would be far more users interested in buying additional content.
But V6 isn't the base like V4 was, Genesis 2 Female is and DAZ is giving it away for free. IMO if DAZ wanted new customers to embrace G2F and G2M they should have put together an intro bundle that included the head and body morphs and offered a big discount coupon to them.
that might work but at this time Genesis 2 has not really gotten my attention.
...what got me into working with G2 was not any Gen6 character, but Zev0's Growing Up morphs. I could finally create kids and teens who looked like kids and teen without having to sink a fortune into a bunch of different character content.
I wasn't directly involved in building the segment for this particular promotion. From what I understand it required 2 things. First was that the customer make a purchase in the past 2 years. This means actually spending money, so picking up freebies, or just downloading Studio wouldn't qualify you.
The second is that they had not purchased any item with Genesis 2 Male or Genesis 2 Female listed as a compatible 3D figure. This includes clothing, morphs, textures etc. So if you picked up a clothing item for Genesis that was also for Genesis 2 Male or Female then you probably would have been excluded from the segment. It's not something we would do to purposefully punish someone. However, we can't go through each individual account and/or product. We have to build these segments based on readily available information.
Also keep in mind that we regularly run promotions that benefit current and loyal customers. One such example was the Countdown-2-Summer promotion which directly benefited our customers who purchase new releases. It wasn't exactly a targeted mailer, but it was a huge promotion designed to benefit our most loyal and frequent purchasing customers.

Ah, that explains why I didn't get an invite to the first round - all those MFD textures I'd picked up from the Platinum Club disqualified me!
Well, all's well that ends well.
