Thread catch-up once again... :)
KaribousBoutique: Oh, I know how irritating it can be to always have to have a cell phone. I'm a web developer, and I've had to be pretty firm with some bosses that even when I do have a cell phone, it's for emergencies only -- and nothing short of "we're losing hundreds of dollars every minute" constitutes an emergency.
KB #2: Sounds like a pretty traditional faerie prank. The popcorn's a nice touch.
KB #3: Nice work putting together a difficult pull.
KB #4: Very nice. Almost a classic fantasy image, with the birdcage adding the RRRR goofiness. :)
KB #5: (Goodness, you're fast!) Great use of effects on this one.
luci45 #7: Really nice atmospherics on this one, and good job wrecking the house.
Totte #7: That tank looks like there's another accident impending...
Diomede64 #2: Amazing how often that really happens. Nice job with the poses and smashed glass.
Sasje #4: Well, that statue's a goner. Great action poses here.
MelanieL #2: There's another one that's going to get a hard look from the government. :) Great job with the action; even without the description it's perfectly clear what the story is. (And thanks for the comment on my image!)
MelanieL #3: The inhuman characters came out terrific in this. Great pose work again as well.
obanion #3: That poor stage manager. First a broken leg, and now he's sure to get the blame for this...
Gopherus #1: Nice touch with the splattered tomatoes on the ground.
Tarina Kivi #1: I wouldn't say that it's awful; maybe not what you started out aiming for, but it's a pretty good image. The poses and expressions do a good job of telling the story.
And on a note on my own, I didn't manage to finish my third pull. Combination of a busy weekend and spending far too much time fighting the UV map on the Rogue Red tunic (not for the first time). Oh well, so it goes. :)
Thank you MelanieL
I actually posted my last entry at almost 3 AM (my time) last night, so didn't really have time to catch up what's new. In case anyone is still reading:
@Ken OBanion "You Never Say 'Good Luck' ..." - thought it was the actors who should "break a leg"? Neat idea and explosive render :)
@KaribousBoutique "Unexpected Trip" - oops! This one really catches the eye - nicely done.
"Equipment Malfunction" - also stirking - I love the magic lantern effect and the subtle glow of the Evil Robots.
(Thanks for you comments on my #2 - hope you didn't look too closely at the rail pile, I think I've got a few rogue intersections in there :red: )
@gopherus "Soccer Mom Made Mad" - nice poses, especially the "little girl"
(And thanks for your comment on mine)
@Tarina Kivi "Crashed" - funny, I saw this in the entries thread first and really liked it, so I was surprised to see your "disclaimer" here - it makes me wish you'd had time to finish to your own satisfaction because then it would surely have been amazing. I really like the eerie colour scheme and the sombre mood of the survivors.
@Morgan R. Lewis - thanks for your comments on my last two entries.
So it just remains to wish everyone good luck in the voting - it will be a difficult job I suspect.
...yeah lack of a 24/7 net connection put me far behind on this thread. Hopefully I can get enough online time to go through all the entries and vote. Need to go through the main thread to read all the stories as well.
Was able to get the setting done however never got around to setting up the characters due to other "mitigating" circumstances like looking for meaningful work, a week long heatwave that limited rendering, and being out of town this past weekend. Bugger too, because I came up with a great little story and scene.
I need to win the lotto so I can work at living rather than living for work.
Amen to that... Hope you get around to rendering that scene anyway at some point! :)
...thank you.
Really not very relaxing going to a public place to get online. The cafe where I go to changed their seating arrangement so I now have strangers sitting right next to me (almost elbow to elbow) able to look over at what I am doing. Not a very comfortable situation.
Oh, I don't know; I kind of enjoy the puzzled looks I get from people who have no clue what I'm up to!
"Wow, that program looks really complicated! What is it?"
That does kinda suck. I rarely have that problem anywhere, because I usually travel with my twins -- autistic boy and pre-teen girl... people don't get too close if they don't have to! I'd lend them out, but the strangers are probably less distracting!

...that is precisely why I hate it, I don't care to be disturbed when I am online. Once I answer that question I usually have to prepare for a dozen more which will eat up precious time I would rather be using for more productive tasks. Try to tell someone you're busy and they often treat it like an insult.

Bummer. I hope you find someplace you won't be disturbed. Do public libraries have wifi access?
...none within walking distance of where I live (5$ just to take the bus round trip). I will have to search around the neighbourhood for a more suitable place with less "friendly" seating. Must still be within walking distance and not much more expensive than where I currently go.
