    I got a letter from AMAZON.com..

    There was a CHECK in it..

    ROYALITIES! :ahhh: :ahhh: :ahhh:

    Ok, only 70 cents, which based on the pricing setup means exactly 7 people bought it.. but..

    IT'S AN EFFING ROYALTY CHECK! :coolsmile: :cheese:

    Cash it, HELL NO! I'm going to laminate this, and the next time someone tells me nobody will buy my writing, I'm going to smeck then in the face with it (smeck smeck smeck)!

    I suddenly feel VERY encouraged to write... :red: :red:

    Morning. Iz turned cool again. Heading toward another flat out busy day but very slowly, the traffic is particularly awful in the big city this morning. Fifteen hour workday yesterday, not my problem but don' know how you can turn a profit paying so much overtime :lol: Hopefully there won't be as many screw ups today :)

    I can't believe how excited I am over such a small thing, but it's very symbolically meaningful...

    A LONG time ago, a bunch of my friends bet each other on who would get paid for doing something creative..

    ..I was voted LAST..

    And over they years I saw them fall by the wayside :down: and I pressed on with my music and my writing.

    And here I am, 35 years later.. my music on 2 albums that sold for money (even if it went to support someone else), and now my very first royalty for writing, and fricking POETRY at that. :red:

    I was sure I'd be the last in line, not the last one standing.

    I'm pretty sure I'm gonna cry. Yeah, the old Loachy One is a pretty emotional dude at heart.. :red: :red:

    @TroutFace, I was wondering...how much does that thing sell for? It doesn't sound very lucrative for you at $.10 per sale. How overbearing is Amazon? Even if it sells for $1, that would mean they keep 90% of the proceeds. Is that typical?

    I put it up a LONG time ago, a few years, before Amazon e-Publishing had such favorable rates. From the logs, the 7 copies sold in about a six month time-span, then.. nothing.. so when the rates got better and better, I made no sales. The "Amazon Exclusive" thing wasn't available then, either, so I didn't have that in my favor.

    NOW, you can keep 70% or so, depending on the deal you cut with Amazon. My NEXT book should net enough for..

    ..beer money. :blank: :blank:
