...usually. though sometimes like if they also include leggings that go underneath a skirt or shorts, I use "full body".

I want my goldies to make my bed but they want their breakfast.  Their food smells like fish food.

Can a computer run without a CPU?

Can a computer run without a CPU?

Simple answer: "No".  Real world answer: "Yes, sort of".  Modern computers don't have just one CPU and also have many CPU-like specialized devices (graphics card, hard drive controller, network controller, sophisticated audio controllers.  A MacGyver type person with a Swiss Army Knife and some baling wire, chewing gum, a roof shingle, digital oscilloscope, three feet of manuals and a pack of clothes pins, could probably cobble enough smarts together to get the computer to do something to help him catch the bad guy or avoid being killed, using a computer with a malfunctioning main CPU before he dies of old age.  But for the rest of us, a functioning CPU is pretty essential to getting anything useful done.  But, you might see some LED lights come on in a suspected "dead" computer.  And if you had the three feet of manuals you might be able to figure out how dead the CPU is by reading the LED lights.

I just had another thought.  enlightened I assumed that in the original question CPU was an acronym for Central Processing Unit.  If however one assumes that CPU is an acronym for Competent Person User then all all bets are off. indecision

I truly miss Jade, he was an awesome, fabulous friend.  Because of him and all his dedication to my half million questions when I first began, his enouragment, inspiration, all my emails venting to him about 3D, etc.....  He was always there every step of the way.  Gone, but never forgotten friend.

My brother's been wearing a Hawai'ian shirt lately. I don't have one, but I like them. Think I'll check out the local thrift stores. smiley

...sadly Hawai'ian shirts have become popular, and because of it prices have gone up. I still remember when I could get them for 3 - 4$ at Goodwill (authentic made in Hawai'i ones). Now it's hard to find one for less than 14 - 16$ (and often that's for a knockoff made in China or Bangladesh).

Yep but not so popular here in Tennessee so - yard sales, etc. are a pretty safe bet. You know - hubby comes back from vacation with one, wife throws it out. smiley

barnes and noble and the library are similar but different.  Library has free books but Barnes and Noble does not (unless they hide them somewhere I cannot see)  Barnes and Noble thinks that people come to their place to shop but they also allow food and drinks in the cafe area (probably so they can convince one to buy the cafe items)
