I like her. 3DL render.
Frankly, I've liked pretty much all of the G2 base characters which have been released so far. I've no idea what I'd do with some of them, but I've thought that they were all very nicely made of their types. And generally their base skins have been splendid.
It's some of the hair and clothing in the bundles which I've disliked -- some of those *a lot*. But I've generally stumped up for the base character, at least eventually. And being in the PC there seemed no reason not to.
Callie is one of the ones that I am not sure what i'd do with, but who knows, I may need to do something retro at some point.
I don't really see the Disney connection with Callie. I think the Girl 6 is much closer (see figure 1 below). In fact, I don't really find the Girl 6 pinup-y at all. The face is more dainty than sexy, and the body, while undoubtedly boobtastic, is almost sterile. The first thing that jumped out to me when comparing the Girl 6 and Callie is how much curvier Callie is. I don't mean waist/hip ratio but rather things like the arms and legs. Girl 6's arms are pretty much straight down from shoulder to wrist. Incidentally this is another area where The Girl is more Disney and Callie is more traditional pinup
I feel like people forget that overlapping figure styles are not a new thing. Yes, there was The Girl. There was also Alexa and Sara (not to mention all of Littlefox's characters)
Yes, there are more Daz Official characters, but I'd hazard that it has a lot to do with the fact that with the auto-following of morphs you have to worry less about support (my favorite gen4 character was Stephanie; poor, unsupported, naked, Stephanie)
Tldr Compare Girl 6 to Sleeping Beauty concept art. They're disturbingly close
...I hear you on Steph4. She was the basis for all my Teen4 characters as she had a petite body shape that could be dialed in and with the NPMs I could safely dial down her breast size without distortion. She also loaded in at about 5'5" instead of almost 6' like Vicky4 did and had nicer proportions.
Alas most Gen4 clothing didn't always fit well, and required a bit of adjustment to eliminate poketrhough around the rib cage underside of the upper arms, and shoulder blades. Thankfully there was the Morph Follower in Daz3.1A which helped a bit. Didn't have many of the Unimesh Fit add on content as I didn't have a lot of the clothing content they were created for.
Here is an example from back then of one of my Steph4 based teen characters.
Has anyone done any renders using Tiami with one of the more realistic morphs (i.e. V6)?
I admit I'm curious about that too.
So this is Callie 6/Alani base with Vickie 6 at 100% and Callie at 50%. It's a Poser 2012 Pro Firefly render.
I'll go ahead and toss Tiami up and do the same mix, or let me know exactly what you are looking to see. (Go ahead and talk to me to like I am stupid - I'd prefer to get it 'done in one' than keep taking stabs at it. :)
I like Callie a lot more than I thought I would.
Looks nice! Cute composition too. I like her at 50% would just like to see the V6 no Callie version. Thank you.
Render starting in a moment. Same figure/image but with Callie dialed out to 0%. So, er, uh, she looks like V6 to me. Maybe you're looking at nuances I don't see, or don't know to look for. In any case, I will post it up as soon as it is done cookin'.
Callie 6 base: Vickie 6 dialed in at 100% and Callie at 0%.
Is this what you wanted to see?
Yep. Thanks. The skin looks good on v6.. Cool. :)
My grandmother's first name was Callie. My little sister is named Callie as well after my grandmother. Imagine my surprise when I came to Daz3d and saw that there was a character with the same name. it isnt a very common name nor a common spelling. Often it is spelled Caliegh, which feels more elegant than the regular "ie" ending. Still, I consider this all to be very cool. I'm going to send her a text to check this out now.
Callie 6 base: Vickie 6 dialed in at 100% and Callie at 0%.

This is what I'm looking for only with the Tiami texture, if you don't mind. Appreciate you posting.

I'll get my best people on it right away!
Rendering now...
This is what I'm looking for only with the Tiami texture, if you don't mind. Appreciate you posting.
Here she is:
Callie 6 Base:
Tiami Mat/Shader
Vickie 6 at 100% and
Callie at 0%
And in case anyone was wondering, here's Callie 6 at 100% + Monique 6 texture.
Different textures make the face look better or worse. To me, the mouth shape and height are kind of odd. I suppose the mouth height morph could make it more appealing to me. In many of the promos, I find the smiles lines kind of hard edged. Maybe it is the lighting. I like how she looks in the i13 Playful Pinup Poses for Callie 6 promo renders. In these promo pics, she reminds me even more of Chris Sanders's drawings. He is the Lilo and Stitch designer. I find her more appealing in these renders than in those for the Base Product. Again, I think the lighting is a factor here.
So I bought Callie and the Fusion Skin Textures. Here's my review and a quick render.
The Good:
The bodyshape is seriously excellent. A lot of 3d figures can look stiff like a technical drawing of a person this one doesn't. I am definitely going to be dialing it into my characters even the more realistic ones.
Continuing on with the bodyshape theme, its pretty easy to make less boobtastic. The thing people always forget about the Daz figures is that they always include a lot of corrector morphs so you use the breast gone morph and the breast are actually gone. The figure in the render below is not the default shape, but was edited using a grand total of 4 morphs (waist width lower and upper, breast gone, and breast small)
SSS maps. Like the bodyshape I'm going to be using these with other characters as well. I also wouldn't mind if there are more sss maps going forwards.
The Bad:
The default textures. I know, I just talked about how I liked the SSS. other than that they are not up to Daz's usual standards. If you examine them they have what looks to be noticeable jpeg compression. They also look like at some point at least some of the elements were run through the map transfer tool. Now, I don't mind multiple UVs, but, if the original character you get the Uvs with used map transfer to get the textures to that shape, something has gone horribly, horribly wrong.
The Yannec textures being a separate purchase. If this is a trend going forwards, rather than a one off because the character was a buyout I'm going to be very upset.
The Neither Here Nor There:
The face shape. Its not really my style. It is more Disney than I initially gave it credit for, but I think a closer comparison would be Pixar. It would be super super easy to dial Merida or Elastigirl with Callie as a base.
I like the i illustration style coloring. but...this texture, as stated above, is definitely not up to usual Daz standards. The pixelization does show in renders. There is a white spot on her back and left hip as well as some other flaws as shown. I ask that Daz fix this texture and give us what we paid for. The price is increased from what I paid for the last model, no poses and below standards texture. It could be a very nice looking illustrative texture if it was clean. I personally feel that the realistic texture should have been included since it seems less work was put into the one that was included. Sorry to gripe, but I don't like when prices go up and quality goes down. Not cool.
Thank you for this well written review.
I'm actually working on making one of my characters look younger and more Disney-esque, mostly the eyes, so I've been following this thread closely.
The problem is, my character is a guy using G2M.
Really hoping a male equivalent is just around the corner.
I do thank you, Daz, in making the Breasts Gone morph actually work on this character. The Breasts gone morph does not work on The Girl 6. It just turns them into thick pancakes. At least with Callie, one can make the breasts gone and create new custom morphs however they want in a sculpting program. I also agree that poses look very nice with this character. The pin-up style poses work great with Callie's form. Some people that only see this as a Disneyesque character do not know the pin-up roots in this body style. Chris Sanders's pin-up characters (Lilo & Stitch designer), the similar Laurie B's characters, George Petty's "Petty Girls" and even Red Hot Riding Hood from MGM can be seen in Callie. Also, the Disney Fairies are very much "pin-up" themselves. Especially the Red-Head. Their qualities are also reminded of here. So, this made her a definite buy and worthwhile purchase for me despite the flawed texture and not entirely liking the face. Though, as I said, The Base promo renders and some of the other ones made it look worse. The mouth area in particular. With a little adjustment, I can make it more to my liking. I am sure some people might like the face the way it is. If they fix the texture for us, it's overall grade from me would go from a B to an A. Maybe A- because of the smile lines that I find odd looking.
I highly recommend these Pose Packs. Others may be nice too. These just happen to be ones that I bought today. There are some really nice poses in them that look great with Callie

Here. I did a 3DL render with the default skin, no adjustments, using my Easy Portrait Lights, no adjustments, so this a load and render sort of a thing.
Render drop 2, close up, still using default skin and lights as above, but this time I used my Toon Style Eyes. Short opinion, I like her, good mixing potential.
Back to work for me now. Cheers!
This is what I'm looking for only with the Tiami texture, if you don't mind. Appreciate you posting.

Callie 6 Base:
Tiami Mat/Shader
Vickie 6 at 100% and
Callie at 0%
Thank you very much for this. I may actually pick up that character.
Very much agreed. I'm waiting to see how much of Cory's products look relevant to my needs (assuming he's coming out within about a week), but if I can afford it, I'll be getting Tiami ASAP, because she seriously looks just incredibly well done.
Here I loaded Tiami from the character folder and removed Callie, so this is how she looks if you don't own Callie and don't add anything else. The "faceplant" time (as Zarcon calls it) is not bad, only 50 seconds for this size image. (the bright light preset is probably longer but I never use that one) I used FWArt Character lights, they should be included with her and live in the Light folder.
Second image I add some makeup and changed the diffuse color to 82/92/104 and the subsurface color to 170/191/255 , Also dialed Faerie body and head to .5 and Ear Elf Short to 1 from the creature creator morphs.
This is all 3Delight, I don't know how she transfers to Iray, I haven't tried. She looks very similar in Firefly, Fred makes great Poser mats.
Very nice examples - thanks for including the version you adjusted to make her darker.
I'm liking the results I'm getting with Callie 6! Definitely a different type of look to Girl 6, even if they both occupy the same style.
Works especially well with relevant hair products. I used the Fiends Forever Ponytail Hair, along with Envy Outfit and the excellent DG Easy Portrait Lights for the background and lighting (applied the background shader to Bashable Backdrops).
Used Photoshop Elements for sharpening the rendered image.
Posed with Capsces Fun And Flirty, designed specifically for Callie. Only had to do some slight modifying to a finger, to go over the belt.
Face mixed with Girl 6. Just for an example.
The face shapes blend well. :)
