DS 4.8 installed, Bryce 7 Pro installed.

    Holy Mother Of Carp! :ahhh:

No twitches when panning/changing viewport. IPR usable. Bryce renders like burning madness.

    :ahhh: :ahhh:

I should be set for many years of happy music and visuals! :cheese:

No iRay tests yet, I want to get all the rest of DS set up before I go off and mess with it. There's 4GB on this GTX850, so it should be reasonable to dabble in iRay now.. but my main focus will still be Bryce, for vision to my music.

Dinner,. Spicy Taste Kimchi Bowl.. yum.. :blank: :blank:

...had me at "spicy tastee" and lost me at kimchi. Never liked the stuff, makes sauerkraut smell like a rose.

Tonight it's a big batch of my homemade seasoned pork "street tacos" (on the small 6" tortillas) and fresh cut homemade Pico de gallo. Simple, tasty, and should last me a couple days. Will be nice when that hot weather hits later in the week, just have to take a container from the freezer, put it in a put a bowl and then in the MW to warm it up. Wrap the tortillas and nuke for 30 seconds to soften them as well.

Good homemade dinners and no heating the flat up by using the stove.

There's no "real" kimchi, it's all dried..

It's hotterenhell, mostly noodles and broth, with "interesting" tasting floating bits. :bug:

    Tacos sound better, by far...

No more. Just plain, no more. I stop now with Genesis 2. :shut:

A few Bryce items and I'm done, end of the line.

... Gen 3 huh... Looks interesting but I was reading the thread and the first thing that I noticed was no backwards capability of textures.

THAT is a big problem, at least with Samuel. In the story, he's supposed to have scars, lots of them. I'm still using my modified Jayden for M4 textures that I photoshop on his scars. I'm leery about finding some other male texture and redrawing those same scars back on. They certainly won't match up. >:(

I've said that for each generation but even I, a confirmed grump, have adapted. :coolsmirk:

Just think... In a surprisingly short while, your G2 wishlist items will start showing massive discounts. I never would have adopted G1 if it weren't for G2. I've just recently started picking up a few G2 items on sale (hmmm, I wonder why they were on sale???) and my opinion is that for the types of things I do, I find the morphs & shaping of M4 better than G1 or G2 males. But I find the clothing fits and posing/animation features better for G1 and G2 better than M4. Fortunately most of my people and creatures don't bother with much clothing so I use M4 for stills and G1 & G2 for clothing scenes or animation.

I am a little bit intrigued by the supposedly new facial expression features of G3 but not enough to rush right out and drain my savings account to try it. I'll wait until they get desperate and start offering massive discounts on the G3 products. Right before G4 appears.

Genesis 3 is free, as were Genesis 2 and 1. There is a Genesis 3 starter essentials pack in your product library. SO you can play with Genesis 3 without spending a penny.

As a product of the 70s counter-culture who has survived, I owe my survival to learning to manage addiction. I know that if I try G3, the initial free sample will not satisfy my curiosity nor squelch my desire. Mrs. Reagan advised us to "Just say NO". So I will wait until my current drug of choice loses its effectiveness and I can afford to purchase the new long list of required headshop paraphernalia ... again.

For me, no, this is the end of DS for me. I simply find no use for it 90% of the time, I'm spending a vast amount of time with Bryce and I'm far happier with how the results are more applicable to my purpose. Every item in my wishlist is a Bryce item.

No diss on DS, it's just not useful for my purposes any more. *shrug*

Check Noggin's store - I think he had something like that, though it may have been a freebie to go with the store product. Unless it was one of Ken's.

Hmm... a idea just occurred to me. One of the vendor's came out with geo-shell cuts and scars. They don't match up with mine but perhaps I can utilize the same technique when G3M comes out. Hmmm...

Songbird ReMix: Flamingos had a plastic lawn flamingo along with the more realistic ones. I think I saw another one recently, by someone else, but can't remember where it was.

...same feelings here. I (along with many others) would rather have seen an "open ended" cloth dynamics engine that would let you apply it to any clothing content.

G2 is the end of the line for me as well. I don't have buckets of money to throw at an entirely new generation of figures/characters. What's worse, is as they changed the texture mapping (more like the Mil3 figures) which will make applying older skins a total nightmare as well as rendering many of the skin resource plugins I already have for G1 and G2.moot (until they are updated and of course I have to pay for them again). The gender split with G2 was difficult (and expensive) enough to deal with.

Also it looks as if G3/V7's skin shaders are optomised for Iray as in one "out of the box" comparison test I ,saw the version rendered with 3DL was darker than the one rendered with Iray. On top of that I expect to see clothing and hair content shifting primarily to G3, leaving G2 behind just as occurred with G1 after G2 was released.

Crikey, I finally have my characters developed to where the look like I intended. Tired of going back to square one.
