    ...excellent and very worthwhile rant.

Have a friend who endured a similar situation where he was told he'd be have a team of five people to assist him. Well to make a very long story short, he ended up being a "team of one" with no additional compensation for the extra workload and constantly asked why things were behind schedule. He has since left that company as well.

I really REALLY wanted to ship this thing, but finally I have to admit that not even a deity could pull off the amount of work left to do before December. Give me 3 more guys and we could do it. I need:

    - Ethernet/Networking/Internet communication stack expert (I'm not)
    - User Interface designer (I'm not)
    - HTML/CSS/Javascript programmer (I'm not)

This is where the blazing ignorance is.. even the hardware guy thinks that it's "just coding". No, it's 3 different areas of discipline and there's bloody little overlap between them, and absolutely NOBODY has listened to be about it for the last year. Only in the past month has someone said "Oh, we'll get one more guy in here for 3 months and that'll fix it all". :blank: No, it won't, but someone will feel al warm and fuzzy about how "they helped out". :blank:

Really really angry right now. If I had the laptop money in the bank I'd hand in my 2 weeks notice. Going to go home, turn off the alarm, put on some hard rock, and hang out in chat while I get a nice, happy buzz on. Tomorrow - resume updating and posting.

FEH. Sorry for the rant, just needed to blow off some steam. Just going to start putting in my hours and giving a good level of effort and not a brain-destroying Herculean effort to accomplish a miracle.

...no problem, over the years I've posted many a rant here myself from work related, to transit woes, to inconsiderate drivers and cyclists.

Am currently fuming over some news I just got today (not related to my personal situation or G3) that I cannot discuss here for TOS sake.

I need a lot of beer but have no funds. Time to go for a walk to simmer down.

I hope you get beer funds soon...

...yeah, Stevens Point WI to Milwaukee in an average time of around 2 hrs 30 min (155 miles)

Fortunately a good part of my route was rarely patrolled. The only area I had to watch it was a stretch of Hwy 41 outside of Fon Du Lac (30 mi NW of Milwaukee). Very bad speed trap back then mainly because of the U of Wisconsin Oshkosh just to the north.

Is there a DAZ model of a pink lawn flamingo?

Check Noggin's store - I think he had something like that, though it may have been a freebie to go with the store product. Unless it was one of Ken's.

Songbird ReMix: Flamingos had a plastic lawn flamingo along with the more realistic ones. I think I saw another one recently, by someone else, but can't remember where it was.

...they are part of this set by Valandar which was a weekly freebie a while back...

Oh, yeah! I knew it was fairly recently that I saw them.

    Dana

    Thanks for the render.

Whenever I think of the pink flamingo lawn ornament I remember many of the places I've seen them or heard about them. My favorite story is about a couple who bought into an uppity gated community but had creative ideas about lawn decoration. The story as I remember it was that they put out a couple of pink flamingos in the hedge in front of their home. They were promptly told by the lawn police that that was not permitted because the rules said all lawns should look alike. The story quickly proceeded to the level where the chastised home owners bided their time while they bought a great many pink flamingos and discretely during the night "donated" a small flock of pink flamingos to every house in the neighborhood. I don't remember how the story turned out but I can probably guess that the flamingos migrated to some place other than the front yards.

It can probably be found through Google. I believe the community was the Disney related development called "Celebration" south of Orlando.

    Edited to add:
Well, I was right. It was Googleable but I was wrong on many points about the story. However, in the "Editorial Reviews" under "James Sullivan" in this book review there is a story about the flamingos in Celebration.

Unless that was mostly not highway, that isn't very impressive...it works out to about 60mph. In the early 70s I had a 1966 Chrysler Newport...383 with positraction rear end. That thing was a tank. And yet it could really haul. Once I went from Fall River, MA to Foxboro (I think it was), through Providence, R.I....100mph all the way on the highway...Rte. I195 to I95 and some other...I didn't know my way, I was helping a friend and had to be back by a certain time for something. You couldn't even tell I was going that fast, except for the spots on the windshield. I asked, "What are those spots?" and a friend said, "Bugs you're squashing!" Eeeewwww. First and last time I ever went 100. What was I thinking? I was (and still am) surprised that I wasn't stopped by a R.I. Statey...they were and still are notorious for pulling over cars with out of state plates.

..,true, the average speed as about 62 MPH but that's just an average. The 2 hrs 30 min time is door to door from my flat by the College to my home in Milwaukee.

For one, about 2/3 of the route was on 2 lane State and US highways Google maps today may make it look like it was pretty much all 4 lane divided highway/freeway, but that is three and a half decades removed from when I last lived there. US 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton was only a two lane highway at the time with a few passing lanes now and then. Only between Oshkosh and Menomenee Falls (about 50 miles) was I on a 4 lane divided highway (US Hwy 41) which at the time was not up to interstate standards like it is today, as it had crossover intersections (lots of bad wrecks as well).

About 30 miles east of Stevens Point was a cutoff from Fremont to Oshkosh along State Hwy 110 which merged with State Hwy 45, which in turn connected to US 41 outside of Oshkosh. Though also both 2 lane highways, this "detour" shaved over 30 miles and a good amount of time off the trip as it was a more direct route bypassing Appleton and the towns of Neenah & Menasha. Back then 110 was a brand new road with all new blacktop, wide lanes, generous shoulders, and mild, surprisingly well banked curves, This actually was one of the the fastest portions of the trip, as it wasn't heavily travelled (very few big trucks as well) and oddly, almost never patrolled (had no trouble driving 80+ on the straight stretches and the banked curves, rated at 55 - 60, were easy to handle 5 mph faster than posted (especially with the suspension and wide stance my 442 had).

Sadly, since the upgrade of US 10 to a four lane divided highway and 41 to an interstate, Hwy110 has been pretty much abandoned and downgraded to a county trunk road.("County II" on the map today). It was kind of like Play Station's Gran Tourismo simulation in real life

The last 16 miles of the trip was the worst as back then, the Milwaukee metro area did not have anywhere near the freeway network currently shown on Google Maps either. Once Past Timmerman Airport on the far northwest side, pretty much the rest of the trip was all on city surface streets (save for the short 3 mile long Stadium Freeway spur) to my neighbourhood on the far southeast side of of the city.

For most the average trip time would be a at least 45 min longer.

Frustrating because it is actually a nice piece of "everyday" clothing.

Totally useless as it's not backwards compatible.

Found out that napoleonic era artillery (not napoleon cannons, which are different) have wheels with fourteen spokes for some reason, must have been as close to flexible as they could make them in the day cos they moved eight or ten feet backward from recoil

Yep. I actually could do all the maintenance on it myself. Remember the distributor? Setting points? There's an entire generation that thinks distributor caps are pencil holders.

Wednesday, Hump Day! Kiss a camel... :gulp:

Took today off to kick off the beginning of the end. Re-contacted some placement agencies, am cleaning up my resume' and creating a one-page summary (of over 35 years and dozens of jobs, lol)! Also prepping to switch machines.. soon this laptop will be in the "clean up" position and Charybdis will be front and center.

Hopefully next week I will be able to reformat and re-install Win7 on this machine. I'm going to try to turn her into a secure, wireless NAS server. :blank:

New wishlist whines: not on Daz, but Musicians Friend! :bug: Found a second set of headphones for critical listening that have a frequency response from 8Hz (!!) to 30JHz (!!)! ;ahhh: That's the widest range I've for form under $300.. and found another miniature MIDI controller I want. :red: I swear, gear addiction is worse than content addiction... :bug:

Off to find food and clean out storage containers.. I think beef quesadilla for lunch! :cheese:
