Genesis 3 is free, as were Genesis 2 and 1. There is a Genesis 3 starter essentials pack in your product library. SO you can play with Genesis 3 without spending a penny.

As a product of the 70s counter-culture who has survived, I owe my survival to learning to manage addiction. I know that if I try G3, the initial free sample will not satisfy my curiosity nor squelch my desire. Mrs. Reagan advised us to "Just say NO". So I will wait until my current drug of choice loses its effectiveness and I can afford to purchase the new long list of required headshop paraphernalia ... again.

For me, no, this is the end of DS for me. I simply find no use for it 90% of the time, I'm spending a vast amount of time with Bryce and I'm far happier with how the results are more applicable to my purpose. Every item in my wishlist is a Bryce item.

No diss on DS, it's just not useful for my purposes any more. *shrug*
...the latest release 4.8.0.59 fixed the bridge with Bryce so you can set up characters in Daz and import them into Bryce so I wouldn't totally trash your investment. Think of it, a NVWaSIaT fighting off tentacles in a really cool surrealistic Bryce setting. There are also a good number of freebie props and sets for Bryce, particularly at Share CG.

Is there a DAZ model of a pink lawn flamingo?

Check Noggin's store - I think he had something like that, though it may have been a freebie to go with the store product. Unless it was one of Ken's.

Songbird ReMix: Flamingos had a plastic lawn flamingo along with the more realistic ones. I think I saw another one recently, by someone else, but can't remember where it was.

64-bit excel doesn't come with a calendar date picker control. did the reg32 thing and everything, don't see it in form controls.

Kyoto Kid, if I had money, I would buy you the memory and an Nvidia 980TI right now.

    ...thank you for the thought.

I'm not throwing anything away, it's all getting archived on mt 1TB drive over this week and not moved to the new machine unless I see a huge need for it. No de-installing, just.. no installing. ;-)

    Complaint:

I now officially hate my job. :shut:

    ALERT BEGIN RANT MODE

The entirety of last week the hardware guy has decided the best way to help with this project is to sit RIGHT BEHIND ME and stare over my shoulders, even after I told him it was going to take me quite a while to do what was needed. I told him several times he'd be there a while and he just sits there reading a tech document or doing bloody well nothing. :shut: Do I actually have to start a fight and tell him he's interfering with my job? Worse, he's buddies with the project manager.. gaah..

Turned my DICE and MONSTER resume visibility back on, set up some job alerts to be sent to me weekly. Over the next 2-3 days I'm going to assemble a summary resume and get it up and going as well.

I'm sick of working for people who have no idea how to run a software development project, have no desire to find out how much work it's really going to be, have no desire to leave the low-level tech details to me and stick with managing at the MANAGER level, who think it's bloody well fine to interrupt me when I'm in the middle of a complex debug or coding session, and who simply keep telling me "you can do it" without realizing it's NOT FREAKING POSSIBLE FOR ONE MAN! :shut:

Now that I have my laptop I can pour my money into saving up to move when I find a new job. And I'm going to do my best to make sure it's NOT IN TULSA!

Been on this damn project for over a year now, spend 4 of those months without a hardware developer and learning do enough on my own to keep the stupid project from sinking under its own weight and not a single lick of thanks. Screw this! :shut:

I'm taking tomorrow off "sick" to kick off my job search, then it's going to be come in every day and suck as much money up as I possibly can while getting things to the point where someone ELSE can take over without having to learn every damn thing from scratch, like I did.

    FEH.

    ALERT END RANT MODE

    ...excellent and very worthwhile rant.

Have a friend who endured a similar situation where he was told he'd be have a team of five people to assist him. Well to make a very long story short, he ended up being a "team of one" with no additional compensation for the extra workload and constantly asked why things were behind schedule. He has since left that company as well.

I hate today. Offended a manager at work with a stupid question that I asked stupidly. But my wrist several times to calm myself down. Now I have red bruises on my wrist. Felt so embarrassed. And I didn't have the chance to go to the pool today.
Wonder how I can explain the red bruises on my wrist without being sent to the mental hospital

I really REALLY wanted to ship this thing, but finally I have to admit that not even a deity could pull off the amount of work left to do before December. Give me 3 more guys and we could do it. I need:

    - Ethernet/Networking/Internet communication stack expert (I'm not)
    - User Interface designer (I'm not)
    - HTML/CSS/Javascript programmer (I'm not)

This is where the blazing ignorance is.. even the hardware guy thinks that it's "just coding". No, it's 3 different areas of discipline and there's bloody little overlap between them, and absolutely NOBODY has listened to be about it for the last year. Only in the past month has someone said "Oh, we'll get one more guy in here for 3 months and that'll fix it all". :blank: No, it won't, but someone will feel al warm and fuzzy about how "they helped out". :blank:

Really really angry right now. If I had the laptop money in the bank I'd hand in my 2 weeks notice. Going to go home, turn off the alarm, put on some hard rock, and hang out in chat while I get a nice, happy buzz on. Tomorrow - resume updating and posting.

FEH. Sorry for the rant, just needed to blow off some steam. Just going to start putting in my hours and giving a good level of effort and not a brain-destroying Herculean effort to accomplish a miracle.

I want to render a horse but severe thunderstorm warning capable of producing winds of 70 MPH. I'm turning the computer off.

edit: I just heard of some small hail west of me in Maryland.

...no problem, over the years I've posted many a rant here myself from work related, to transit woes, to inconsiderate drivers and cyclists.

Am currently fuming over some news I just got today (not related to my personal situation or G3) that I cannot discuss here for TOS sake.

I need a lot of beer but have no funds. Time to go for a walk to simmer down.

Well, TroutFace, I think that project was doomed from the start. When there are managers and project managers who don't really appreciate what is really required, a project is doomed. I hope you get out without losing much more of your mind!
