Well, Newegg has the laptop, approved the RMA, and a refund is now in progress. Once it's back in Paypal, I transfer it all back into checking and take it out as soon as it shows up.

What a fiasco. :shut: Newegg is off my buy-from list. :shut:

HOWEVER - making lemonade out of lemons - this coming paycheck has enough extra to get an even better computer, with a 4GB NVidia card!

So maybe it's all for the best. Still, irritating as heck. :blank:

Have done - checked on other shops, NVidias website, and reviews - it's a legit 4GB.

Another Lenovo, but this one has the better video and a faster HD. It should rock DS, Bryce, and all my music software for another 4 years!

It's been raining here all day. Heavy in the morning, but drizzly all afternoon. I'm happy, though, because it's watering my poor lawn, the poor new grass I'm trying to get established. The seed didn't grow in all the bare spots, though. I can't afford to get more...that stuff is expensive. And I need to cut the other grass...or weeds, whatever. It's all getting out of hand.

As long as you don't have any green skinned military guards called Winkies it would be safe to take a shower. Otherwise avoid water at all costs.

I had to fire all my Winkies because of some girl trying to sell them water sprinklers.

No I am not allergic to water. A nice shower sounds good.

Hope you have a chiller pad for the laptop, gpu rendering tends to run rather hot.

I ran into rain yesterday. Driving back north from Pittsburgh I came up a secondary road instead of Interstate 79. The road takes me through a large state park and lots of "mountains" (really just steep rocky tree covered hills). It had obviously rained very heavily before I got there and there was a lot of runoff making decent sized waterfalls, a number of small trees had fallen partly onto the road, large puddles of water flowed on and over the road. The first one I came to surprised me as I came around a corner at 55 MPH and I slammed on the brakes but still hit the puddle hard. Thankfully, I didn't lose control of the car. However, I did spray a lot of water for 20 feet around me and I'm sure the underside of my car is now spotlessly clean. I tried to keep my speed down but I had 40 miles to go before I hit civilization again and just about the time I figured that it was safe to speed up a little I'd come to another wet area and spray more water. Then I got stuck behind some nervous nelly going 10 miles an hour and I couldn't pass because the road was so curvy. I finally came out of the forest and reached civilization.

More rain expected tonight and tomorrow. Cleveland and Chicago are getting it now. Sounds just awful.

Ah ha, I found the inspiration for the toothpaste image.

Was just at the dentist, they have similar toothy smiles plastered all over the wall and a tooth whitening contraption that looks like it belongs in a (torture) museum on special

..had a pretty decent one. Slept in a bit as I was up long last night working (made the mistake of having a bottle of "real" Coca Cola with my BBQ bacon Swiss onion burger at dinner and couldn't sleep). Went for my afternoon walk (crikey getting old I guess) stopped at one of the local parks to just enjoy the day. Saw the first Swallowtail flutterbys of the season (3) and sat there watching their "dance" around a bunch of hydrangea bushes. nearby (did I mention I feel I'm getting old?). Stopped at the natural food market, picked up a couple ears of corn to throw in the pot for dinner (warm day didn't feel like cooking). Finally logged onto the forums.

I don't know. It sounded to me like it was more trouble with UPS. This is one case where you should blame the messenger...they screwed up!

OK, I wasn't going to talk about it but...

Yesterday, I had a best-seat-in-the-house ticket to the Symphony in Pittsburgh. Been waiting for this for 6 months. Weather cooperated for the trip down, and car was in top running condition after $$$ repairs. That morning I pulled my ticket and my ticket receipt and my prepaid parking pass and my prepaid parking receipt from the original mailed envelope they had come in, that had been so carefully watched over for 6 months, and put them in my wallet The concert ticket and the receipts went into the money compartment of my wallet. The parking pass went into a credit card slot. I left in plenty of time to drive 200 miles. About 2 miles from Pittsburgh on the Interstate I noticed that traffic was getting pretty heavy. The closer I got the slower we advanced.

Although you think where this is going, it gets worse. I finally get to downtown Pittsburgh with still two and a half hours to spare but finally realize that all this traffic is for some big sports game at the arena and/or a convention center event or maybe both also happening on Sunday afternoon and the streets in downtown Pittsburgh are bumper to bumper with cars and pedestrians. I kept my cool and carefully examined my map to get to the theater and parking area. Unfortunately I missed the best turn and had to go on to the next street to go around the block and double back. That took a half hour of creeping one car per turn of the traffic light. I actually passed the concert hall and saw the parking ramp on the next block. I'm home I thought. Yea!

Continuing through the intersection I see that the parking ramp (as all the other parking places I had noticed) had signs saying "FULL, NO PARKING EXCEPT FOR LEASE OR PASS), Still the streets were full of cars trying to find parking. As I crept nearer to the entrance to the parking building that I had a paid pass for I noticed the attendant turning away people. I pulled my ticket stuff from the money compartment of my wallet then got his attention by waving my parking receipt so he could see it and he shook his head "NO" then he held up a credit card shaped thing that was white with a red triangle on it and shook his head "YES". I cursed my luck because I was positive I had no such card. So I drove past to the next intersection and decided I'd just drive around and maybe find another parking place.

If not you're familiar with downtown Pittsburgh, it's a triangular peninsula between two rivers, much like Manhattan but 10 times smaller and connects to the mainland via lots of bridges. The two rivers around downtown Pittsburg are BIG rivers, so the bridges are LONG bridges with lots of lanes and traffic. While trying to drive around the block I got stuck in a lane that led to one of the bridges at the next intersection and then zoom, I was in a lane that took me over the biggest bridge of all, straight west over the river and through a mountain tunnel. As I was exiting the city I noticed that from this side the traffic going into the city was even worse than it was when I came in from the north.

At that point I swore violently at my windshield and then gave up and connected to the Interstate going back home. On the way home about an hour north of Pittsburgh I stopped at a convenience store and bought a Coke. When I opened my wallet to pay for the purchase I noticed the white card with red triangle parking pass in one of my credit card slots that I had put there just 5 hours earlier.

    Ghaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...................

I didn't mention today that I'm getting old, but this might be a clue.
