...well dumped FF 39 and rolled back.  Too many crashes and I would get these annoying lags where I'd type something and it wouldn't appear on the screen for several seconds. Afffected scrolling down as well as opening tabs. I have all my passwords back and can get back on to the tech site that it kept fouling up where something inactivated the login icon.

    Sometimes "new" really isn't "improved".

I've had that lag happening for several months.  I thought I just had too much going on in memory.  I tend to leave the computer on for days on end, although now I put it into sleep mode when I'm walking away from it for a while.  If I reboot, the problem goes away util I have a lot of stuff loaded again.

The update had an important security update in it...or at least that's what they claimed.

..since I rolled back none of those delays have been occurring.  I think they are putting too many bells & whistles into it for its own good. After all, it is only a 32 bit application. Seems they hit the right medium about ver. 29 - 30. After that it started to bloat in memory seriously on my notbook until it froze up so I rolled back to ver. 29 on it.

I recently installed 39 on the workstation (where I was also running ver 29) and that was when all the troubles began. Lost my Norton Toolbar as it is o longer compatible, but all the other plugins and add ons still function fine.

Kind of makes as much sense as an astronomical observatory in Juneau Alaska.

There's an astronomical observatory at the South Pole! cheeky  Made big news a while ago, but their finding wasn't confirmed. sad

...well big "doctor day" for me today.  Has a follow-up to my blood tests and discovered that am Diabetic-II. Fortunately it is not a serious stage and can be handled by simple meds (no injections *whew*) and diet. Don't even have to perform daily glucose monitoring.

So looks like no more Mexican Coca Cola or pre-sweetened Ice tea though (fortunately I sort of lost my "sweet tooth" left so no candy withdrawl).

Also have to lower the old cholesterol level a bit so looks like lots more lean stuff on the diet (fortunately I like things like fish and chicken breast stir fry).  Doesn't mean I can't still have a burger now & then, just not every other night. Going to try my street tacos with ground turkey (natural/organically fed) this week & see how that works. Probably will have to forego bacon though which will be a real downer.  At least I'm not gluten intolerant, that would be real tough.

Also was sent over to the nearby hospital for imaging of my right hand that has been bothering me over the past several years. Had to get "stuck" again for a blood test to verify my rheumatoid arthritis.

One good thing, I was handed a form to apply for a "Honoured Citizen ID" with our transit system.  This will mean I can get a monthly bus pass for 28$ instead of 100$ and get those "yutes" to get up and give me a seat.

Glad you dodged the bullet on the diabetes.. I take my 2 pills daily and am happy.  Dropping the sugar will be a  pain, it took me ages to learn to check EVERYTHING for sugar, it's even in bread and tortillas!

    Take care of yourself!!

..thank you.  Good I'm already a compulsive label reader.

I've been on the regimen for a few days now and so far, no major ill effects.  My doctor said as I continue to take the medication, I'll build up a resistance to potential side effects.

Watching sugars these days is a real challenge as just about everything has added sweeteners.  I already avoid anything with HFCS or even just corn syrup, don't eat much in the way of sweets these days either.  Anything high in carbs (like bread, spuds, rice etc...) is a real toughie as those easily convert to sugar (and I love my stir frys).  Even fruits have a lot of sugar.

The one thing I really need to be careful about is grapefruit as I am also on a statin, so I have to check the label of all fruit and soft drinks.  No more ordering Greyhounds or Sea Breezes or a Kyoto Sour (bugger) at the pub. Have to ask about Margaritas as well as some recipes call for grapefruit juice.

It takes some adjustment.. three months after my diagnosis I finally settled into the groove.

Worst part so far is no cake, cookies, or anything dessert-ish.  They throw parties here and have cake and ice cream, I eat 1/2 a forkful of cake and I'm done. indecision

I don't know how I feel about those reports that keep cropping up... Basically these planets are usually way larger then earth (therefore different gravity, different atmospheric pressure and a many other vastly different variables), possibly "similar" in composition and located in the "goldilocks" zone (an orbit that might be "just right" for earth-like life)... But saying that it's earth-like... To me it's like saying something is a bottle just because it's composed of Quartz.

That and the constant use of an artist's interpretations of what such a world may look like... Like based on what?

But, having said that... It to some degree does prove that earth-like worlds are probably far more common than we used to imagine.

I'm really interested in how many have life and on how many worlds those life forms have developed chocolate... The one true sign of sentience.

My favorite "height" experience was SCUBA diving in a crystal clear cavern that was lit well with many other diver's powerful lights.  One entered the cavern by gliding through a long horizontal narrow water filled tunnel and then suddenly gliding over the edge of a sheer "cliff" into the water filled cavern the size of a cathedral and seeing the pointy rocks 60 feet below.  Momentary panic but then realizing that I was gently "flying" around the cavern in the invisible water.  Marvelous. yes

All the time in the back of your mind is the thought that the ceiling of the cavern could at any momemt decide to collapse and create yet another Florida sinkhole. surprise

I find that if you run Norton's Live Update, it usually gets what is needed for the FireFox update to keep the toolbar.  it's annoying that you have to do that, but at least it works.

..yeah, but in Juneau they are lucky to have 3 -  4clear days a year.  Makes Seattle look like the  "sun belt".

I'm not gonna really bother asking this anywhere else, as maybe it's an iPad thing... But does this happen to anyone else- You go to the forums, you click on a thread and it goes to the last page YOU read (that is supposed to happen), you read the other posts, you go to the last page, last post and then post a short a dumb comment (okay that's more me)... When the page reloads with your comment, the last comment you were responding to was (sometimes) several hours ago, and several equally old comments are between yours and what looked like the last comment... Meaning either the post order is wrong or not all posts are loading... ?

I'm not really concerned since I never really make much sense to begin with, but what if like North Korea made a post and then someone else posted and they got insulted because the post order was wonky... This could have serious global political effects.

ix = halfway between is and was.

people who loose days need more verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and pronouns

IIRC you mentioned Thor's Day on Thursday, and then you had a "Groundhog Day" moment and repeated Thursday on Friday. I thought that the situation would be self-correcting, so I didn't comment. laugh
