Uups. Saw the character this morning. Pity that I also did not purchase right away.
She will be back as soon as I split her into two characters, an adult and a young one. New Rendo rules!
Awesome! Glad to hear it, I was afraid she was gone for good. I think she's the best likeness you've done so far, can't wait to add her to the rest of your characters I've already got.

And now replaced with a wholly Adult figure. That is more expensive to boot. Go figure. I'm tempted to get that version too as she does look older than the "Full Young Adult" preset in the original. But the price being higher is a bit offputting. To say the least, a state to which I am unaccustomed. :)
I'm giving it a few minutes after both are placed back in the store to see if the price balances back out. I'll probalby ipick up both once they do hit though

So, does that mean the original package has all of the assets quoted in the Adult Emmaline? Fibermesh brows and such. And you just split off the "Full Adult" preset (Just noticed there are four presets) into a separate package from the other three? If that's the case I can rest easy.
Yes! It sounds confusing, but I was told that "in our continued effort to thwart child pornographers, we no longer release Adult and Child packages together". So there will be a regular adult character with fibermesh, etc, and a separate "child to young adult" character with everything but the adult preset. I wish it didn't happen, but it's totally not my choice. Apparently, I am too naive for this world - had no idea there can be such a delicate issue with aging options =(
Truly only a delicate issue in the minds of those predisposed to think that way, I fear. At least I know, since I grabbed the package before it was retconned that I don't have to get the Adult version to not miss anything. Looks interesting so far. Now if I can just find some matching hairstyles. A young Hermione for instance.
I swear, sometimes I think the people who create hair packages have never seen actual hair on a woman or girl. I have so many that I've gotten because they looked "almost natural".
And doing it the way they did is a boneheaded move on their part. It won't actually affect in any way whatsoever what they claim to be trying to combat, and by having the original complete one up at first and then pulled down, to only be replaced later with two products, it will annoy a lot of people. It will cost sales, both for Rendo and for you. The automatic assumption is going to be that someone is getting greedy, since we will have to pay double the initial price to get the same product. I understand that you have no control over this, and understood that even when it was first pulled down, so it won't affect any future purchases of your prodcuts by me, but it could with other people. It will factor into my overall purchasing decisions at Renderosity, which is not good for them. I've already drastically cut down on what I purchase from them, because most of their releases just don't interest me much anymore. Having them put up a product to then remove it and split it into multiple parts, each of which is the price of the original is not a good precedent for them to set. I was already debating wether or not to keep my prime membership going, this is not going to swing the decision in a positive direction. I've already purchased the adult version, because I don't want to take a chance on missing it again if it were to disappear, but between how shady this feels to me on Renderosity's part, and the fact that I just don't render children very often, I may not get the younger version.
But all of that depressing stuff aside, she really is a fantastic likeness, and I think one of your best so far. I am really glad to be able to add her to my runtime.
This is pretty silly. DivaMakeup has a awesome character here on DAz, that has a Teen and Adult character in one package. making them two pruchases nagates nothing. Though in the end it will help you Sangriart Which I'm happy. I can't wait to see what you got next. Always in anticipation! I still need to work with a few of your works. Awesome times we are in! To be specific, the real problem was that the initial release included a child morph and a genital texture in the same package. I'm sure if there is a new child/young-teen release there won't be a texture for the gens. That's the rule Daz follows and Rendo has to date. Of coruse you could buy both adult and child release and swap.... but shhhh ... don't tell anyone.
Discussion of another store's policies would be better conducted at that site.
Another consideration. For those of us with no intention of ever rendering non-adults in any context at all, a package with both adult and teen/child versons could seem like paying more than necessary to get the adult character you are after. I'm more likely to buy the adult-only package. It's the same reason I never buy pro bundles - I can't see myself using 70%+ of what's included and don't want to pay for it.
Huh, I picked up Emmeline yesterday and didn't even realize it might cause a controversy. But both versions of the character are up and currently at half price so it all works out in the end I guess.

If you want both, then buy both. The way some are complaining like it's the worst controversy since Watergate is silly.
Same here andya. Although some bundles are very good and have stuff at a good price. And it seems I was correct about the Emmeline Young release in my comment above, and the included textures.
The controversy was purly a technical/TOS one, but it surprises me that nobody pulled it up before it went live. I see people asleep at their keyboards, not quite doing the jobs their paid to do. Been there.... done that LOL.
I'm involved with Daz3d now far more than the other site, and this Emmeline thing does feel like a last straw. They're not offering an equal deal. The sale for each now is the sale price they were offering for the combined a day ago. But like Haseltine said, this is something to take up with that store. But why bother... OTOH, if they cut it to a quarter, I'll get the adult ;-)
Eh, I re-thought that. I respect the artist. Sangriart's Game of Thrones characs are amazing.
Yeh Sangriart is great and I'm not really having a shot at Rendo's marketing issues. It's just something that happens from time to time with all sites.
Sadly no one even discusses much on that site. lol! Daz is way more busy. Over there some forums are ghosttowns.
But the thing for me is, apart from the sheer stupidity of the whole thing is this. I bought the package before it was pulled. Are they going to offer me both packages as compensation in the event there are updates, as happens from time to time? And Richard Haseltine can go ahead and feel I'm violating some sort of code for all I care. Fora may be moderated and never really enjoy what you'd call First Amendment protections, but as long as I don't go around insulting people what difference does it make.
The major point was the separation of assets. It was originally packaged as an entire set, then split - both parts being priced equivalently to the original package. That isn't that difficult to parse. That was a major reason I bought so little from RDNA back in the day. So much content was piece mealed out. Outfits were sold not as such but as individual items.
And the notion of Ghosttown forums is apt, trying to find anything current (or topical) is less likely than getting a good search result off of the Daz forums search engine.
Albeit It is not good form to dis the competition or any other site for that matter. That's why I kept my comments on purely technical issues. Nobody wants to start a site vs site argument.
That being said, it's interesting to examine how the issue of possible exploitation of products is being handled in the not-so-nice world in which we live. The new reality is that everyone needs to be very careful because other people are watching what everyone does.
In general, products are treated as one-time transactions. It is nice to get updates but there is no contract that requires that they be provided. In practice, what has happened in the various stores is that you would get the appropriate updates for both the figures you bought because your transaction involved buying them both. Someone else who bought only one would get the update for the single figure. Likewise, if you needed to download the figure again, you would have access to both figures since your transaction involved two figures.
separately, some people only want part of a product and don't like buying things they will not use.
