It looks transmapped to me, and there are maps in there that wouldn't be needed for SBH. As far as I know, FESoul has yet to make any SBH.

    Many thanks.

@memcneil70, did you take a long time rendering all those tiny light sources in the new DAZ+ environment? I'm debating getting it because it looks so amazing, but I'm thinking all the lights will probably take forever on my litte mobile 2260. Can you share your experience? The render's really fun, by the way laugh

Sorry I have been offline due to severe weather. On my iPad. Those lights have a sub-set that can be used from the main scene or added later. There are 3 sub-sets if I remember correctly. I have a RTX-4090 card, but only 32gb vram and Ram in the Win 11 laptop. But it took so little time I barely turned around and back and it was at 85% and finished in a flash. The only thing I had to fiddle with was making a group of the set's bits to move it back just a scosh as the cat was hanging off the edge of the pool. I think I used Camera 3? There are like 10 cameras?

These sets are like a Stonemason set, litte nooks and crannies of joy and different depending on what you need.

Thank you, that's really helpful! Your card of course is much, much better than mine, but if yours goes through the scene in a flash, then maybe mine won't at least totally crawl. I think I'll give it a try. Cheers!

@tsroemi I'm running quite an old system, an oldish i7 with a GTX1060 6GB card, so with that in mind I try and endeavour to streamline and optimise the scenes as much as possible to cater for everyone. It make be a slightly slow to render on older systems, but it will certainly render fine that's for sure :)

@memcneil70 Thank you very much for your honest feeback on this set, and my others, it's really appreciated. I'm glad that you enjoy exploring all those little nooks and crannies in the sets. Lovely render too by the way, Tom has definitely made up with Jerry :)

Thank you @FWDesign. I do want to correct what I recalled about the cameras, there are 24 cameras in the set. I think I may have used the D|S default camera for my render.

This morning I was working on my laptop a Win 10, with a GTX-1060 card and set up a new scene and used Camera 23, moving it slightly for what I needed. I added four rabbits from the new sets: left to right, Rabbit - White, floating above the platform Rabbit - Teddy Brown, Center Rabbit - Plush Lap, Right Rabbit - New Zealand Red. The render finished at 96% converged, 4492 interations, in 1 hour, 42 minutes and the first 10 minutes were devoted to the rabbits' fur.

Maybe not a fair render, but to compare, when I do a character test on this computer, it can take 2 to 3 hours on a basic background set.

@memcneil70 That's not too shabby for a render time, especially with all that fur on those wabbits!

I was hitting around 40-45 minutes if I recall when I was rendering the promo images. Thank goodness I'm patient, but I tend to render in Corona render when in Cinema4D. And let me tell you, those can come in nigh on 6-8 hours at times!

I keep promising myself a new systems, but with 3 miniature Schnazuers at home, they inevitably end up getting spoilt first smiley

This must be a very bad product if they have to make the promos so dark... No, seriously: Please, Daz, make sure that the illustrations are informative enough for the customer. I would be quite interested in https://www.daz3d.com/fg-haunted-house , but the far too dark pictures keep me from buying. The promo pics for a house should also contain floor plans.

Agreed. Fugazi usually makes pretty solid products, and I'm always in the mood for a haunted house, but they have an unfortunate tendency for these dark renders.

I liked that it wasn't just an exterior. If I retexture the entire thing, I could probably use it as someone's home. But yeah, I do wish floor plans had been included, and it seems odd they weren't considering so many of the other Fugazi products have an overhead greybox.

I swear I bought a FESoul hair recently that mentioned the Omni shader. I went to use it a few days ago and couldn't find it in the store description of any of my recent purchases. I remember thinking "wow - FESoul has given stand-based a go" and sticking it straight into my cart purely from curiosity.

Am I going crazy or does anyone else remember that too? Maybe it was a different vendor? It's been annoying me for a few days now that I can't identify which hair it was. I hope a store description hasn't been changed somewhere after purchase, because that wouldn't be cool.

dForce FV Side Part Hair for Genesis 9?

Not that one, but it looks fabulous and is on my wishlist!

Did some forum sleuthing and I finally found the hair(s)/vendor in question: OOT, who has recently started doing strand-based hair, which makes me incredibly happy.

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-strand-based-top-wave-long-bob-hair-for-genesis-9

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-strand-based-messy-low-ponytail-hair-for-genesis-9

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-strand-based-everyday-updo-3-hair-for-genesis-9

Glad I wasn't going crazy - just made a mistake on which vendor had made the switch. No wonder I couldn't resurface the hair!

I love the new omni shader, so much so that my shopping habits have completely changed since I've started using stand-based hairs with it. I've got so many lovely hairs from various artists in my library, but whenever I use them now, I take a note to replace them with strand-based porducts before going into production mode with those characters. The new omni shaders not only look fantastic, the stand-based hairs are super quick to render on my system. At the quality I render at and my the workflow I use, strand vs other types can be the difference between a 20 minute and 3 minute render. I simply won't buy non-strand-based hair going forward, although that's from the fortunate position of already having a rather large library of hair.

Will we ever see FESoul strand-based hair too? I think I'd wet myself with glee if that happens.

laugh Yay! I'm so happy to hear this! I adore FeSoul hair (I own many) and to have more which can use the Omnishader will be amazing! Thanks for letting us know!

    Lol, that's fine!  laugh

Today, the 'Fun Heels' are really funny; I just couldn't resist them. I would only have liked to see the material zones. Unfortunately, only a few PAs show them in their promos (e.g. Arki, Fisty & Darc) though many material zones are such a good selling point.

With DZheng's products debuting here today, I think my wishlist just doubled. blush So many kitbashing possibilities! My boys are FINALLY going to get a wardrobe expansion. laugh

I was happy to see them, too. I have no actual use for them, but it seems only right that masc-folk should get skimpwear, too.

    They look quite nice indeed

I'm happy to see Peace Lilly included as it's apparently the only kind of house plant I'm compatible with: all other plants I've ever tried end up dying, but the tiny peace lilly plant I was given years ago is now huge, and its little sister I bought recently seems to like my house too... wink

Test render, for the Peace Lilly I may have to adapt the lighting or shaders a bit, but overall like it (click to enlarge)

Having been a florist for 30 years, I do know plants. I own most of these plants. You may too. https://www.daz3d.com/calla-lilies aka peace plant prayer plant. https://www.daz3d.com/plantz spider. More here, I could go on and on for each one but I won't. Hard to buy recycled goods. And lately I am seeing a lot of recycled goods, a no buy for me.

  • mdingmding Posts: 1,217

    @ArtAngel: As I said, "I shouldn't", I even own these:

    https://www.daz3d.com/collection-of-pot-plants

as well as most other plants in this shop, but plants are my sweet spot here at daz and it is VERY difficult for me to say no.

That said, i don't regret i bought them, as in my eyes they render beautifully and they are not completely identical with other props i have (see test render above).

As of plants, i think we still lack (sorry i don't know ths english word, could you tell me) flower/plant arrangements to lay on graves or to set up at funerals, i hope you see what i mean. Is that correct or have i overlooked sth?

  • JOdelJOdel Posts: 6,281

A set of floral arrangements in general would be useful. There are a few out there. But most of the ones in my library are in room sets or as part of an environment and it's a pain to go hunting for a vase of flowers or whatever.

Just a collection of floral arangements, or even arangements of the things in some of Martin Frost's sets, with the requirements listed would be welcome.

This is an example of what i mean with flower / plant arrangement to put on graves ( in Germany this was sold at a supermarket 3 years ago).

    also a google image search

I found at daz a new cemetery with trestle for a funeral wreath by powerage

The product is on my wishlist now:

    https://www.daz3d.com/cemetery-for-ds-iray

But i would prefer a more elaborated wreath which isn't a critique of the product - no PA can afford to create HQ wreaths for such an environment.

So as a summary: It would be a dream to have a product containg a) some wreaths,  b)flowers and plants to mix and match and c) ready arrangements created for cemetery / church settings to put on graves or on trestles.

Of course it also would be great to have a seperate product with flowerarrangements / bouquets for normal everyday situations.

There is the option of saving the props you like from different collections into custom named folders to find them easier, like "Floral Arrangements", "Picture Frames" etc.

Oooh, I LOVE the new set of rigged balloons: https://www.daz3d.com/cgi-deco-balloons! Have wanted something like this for ages! Just wondering whether the strings are poseable too, and whether if so, they hang in an unappealing straight line at first, and one has to go through ten bones or so to manually get them to look nice (overthinking much? Me, no ....). But there's presets, so. Ahhh, and they're just so shiny and fun, and I WILL get them regardless!

    They look good indeed.

Looking at the file list, there seem to be "FrontBackAll", "LeftRightAll" and "TwistAll" dials, which I assume are for the string. So you can likely pose them with a combination of bones and morphs.

That is a fun model. But, only a little bit more sophisticated from the sort of ting I'd expect to see as a freebie. Maybe that's just me.

    Regards,

    Richard

@Leana, thanks! I'm on the iPad right now and can't check the readme from there, so that helped a lot.

@richardandtracy, yeah you're probably right, but they're still lovely and I haven't got anything comparable. Plus, with the discount and my 3 tokens, price is about okay. And I do want to encourage PAs to make more fun, useable props like this, so.

Expecting people to give away work that one isn't able to do themselves is certainly an opinion.

Yep. It's an opinion, and one I try to match in my actions too, with a few freebies at Rendo (240) and here (<100). Regards, Richard.

Don't have a lot of time, but looking at that arrangement, couldn't you do that with a primitive, select flowers from your collections, a bow or streamer from one of the gift box sets, shaders, and an artist's easel that you might have in your runtime?

    Just a thought.
