So, Angela's brother is into the store. He's had morph fits in a few things, so it was clear he was coming, if not when. (Been a while since they let that happen.)
Don't think I want all of either bundle, but we shall see.
The combinations with him look pretty good.

I'm definitely in the same boat as you, not wanting enough of either bundle to make it worthwhile. I think he looks great, but I can't put my finger on whom he reminds me of. Someone else suggested Wesley Snipes, and I can see that, but that's not it.
That's the best black skin I've seen in a while!
The military helmet isn't in today's bundles, so maybe more goodies to come?
I really like the promos for Lawrence - makes it easier to decide to buy him.

I figured it out: he's LaKeith Stanfield.
He's so pretty and exactly the morph I needed for a character I couldn't nail down. I have exactly zero use for military stuff, so he's all I'm getting; I might wait a day and see if they spring an alternate theme or something.
Veins come as a separate material. Cheers.
Can't tell from my first ongoing render, as It is a headshot and I already used Nahuel's fiberbeard on him. More on that later. In the chest, though, no visible hair.
As I see the promos, lower chest, maybe?
The bundles don't interest me (I have no use for military stuff), but Lawrence 9 looks absolutely gorgeous - as does his female counterpart, Angela 9. The 'Curly Short Hair' is also already in my cart.
This is the first render I did, I wanted to compare Lawrence close to Angela, with her Space Infantry Mats. His beard is from Nahuel 9. Out of the box. Right click/ new tab for a 4K res. I didn't realize the Space Infantry hair cap was showing in the render. But hey, it's Lawrence we're talking about, right? :)

That is a lovely skin and I would love to know your lighting. You did a great job.
I like Lawrence 9 and want him along with the hairs. On the fence on the BDUs because they are supposed to be baggy, so you can move.
Even with a discount offer might not go for the bundles.

I sure hope so - I like me some modern military stuff! And I've looked at some things available; what he has in the promo doesn't seem to be available in the store just yet. IMO what gives it away the best is the dirt on the goggles; all goggles I've found are clean.
And, in the same vein, I don't think I've seen the rifle before. My money is on a expansion for the dForce Combat Uniform Outfit for Genesis 9.
I like the character and his clothing, not sure about the rest of the bundle filler.
My main light it's been for a while https://www.daz3d.com/ig-photographers-toolbox-photo-lights GPU consuming but powerful. Here I used a single big reflector umbrella - you can see it in his eyes - to enhance the specular. Secondary lights are from https://www.daz3d.com/bokeh-studio-hdr. Not the HDRI's though. It includes a specular eye and soft fill light props that are too easy not to use.

Not his eyes, but he has a certain Isaiah Washington's vibe to me. This answer as well if he comes with painted body hair. At least on the regular HD mat aparently he does not. I have to check the veins mat, though.
Is the "battleship" in that bundle as utterly ridiculous as it seems?

It's a bunch of cannons mounted on a giant lobster, if that's what you're asking.
What in the heck is going on at DAZ? Who puts these bundles together? The character here looks okay, but half the stuff in the bundles looks to be of freebie level quality: we have not one but two weapons packs that aren't smartpropped or articulated AND include no hand poses, a tank that doesn't have moving treads, interior or hatch, a WW2 style airplane that's not only inexplicably in a bundle that's otherwise all modern ground combat based but also carries a name that's famously associated with a B-17 Flying Fortress that's privately owned and still on active duty at airshows and in films, a modern combat uniform without a helmet, vest, belts, or anything else you would actually go into combat with, and then there's that "battleship"... the sad thing is that I would have loved to have either a real battleship or a real lobster, but this is just utterly inane.
He looks great, but I think the only iteresting items from the bundle are explosion FX and the unifom (and the uniform is only basic everyday overalls no other kit). I've no shortage of gun props.
Battleship is utterly weird and I already have WW II fast battleships as well (why would anyone kitbash US battleship with a giant robot-lobster? Or any battleship for that matter...O_o).
I can contirm now that the veins material is the one with the body hair applied to it.
Ditto for me. The single item discount stacking and tokens make it feasible to make my own bundle rather than buying the April Inanity bundles. I haven't seen the stovepipe hairstyle since the 80's, but I hear it's being recycled. The raggedy Antoine yarn braids seem to be a more common hairstyle than that.
Lawrence's skin looks just like Angela's skin with different normals. If we still had separate genders, then repeating a skin for both genders would be defensible. But this doesn't make much sense. His head morph seems well-made (since he looks stoic, perhaps it won't matter how well he takes expressions), but his bends look like they need some FBM/CBS love. Don't know what's up with the clotshot calamari vascularity.
Still, Genesis 8 black men were so obviously painted that I only used them at distance. Genesis 8.1 black skin looked great, and Genesis 9 now has two versions of one skin that looks amazing.

My purchase today included Lawrence 9 HD, Faded Afro Hair and Beard, M3D Curly Short Hair and VDB Explosions from the new offerings. And from the PA stores: Space Warrior Hair and Iray Light Volume Kit, both wishlisted when they came out. I had the offer of a discount for the bundles, but chose to just use my 4 tokens.
I am holding money for the military outfit that will be coming from mal3Imagery. It is more representative of what I see on an active joint service military base that also hosts other nations' military and from my experience of 24 years in the military.
There have been a number of DAZ models over the year that completely baffled me, and this one quickly shot to the top of the list of perplexing choices. And to be clear, this is in no way meant as a comment on the technical quality of the model itself, but rather one of its ultimate utility to an artist purchasing DAZ products. If the purpose of buying DAZ products is to create art that expresses oneself, just how many renders could one even expect to do with something that's so visually distinctive yet utterly limited in functional use?
Don't use a promo for an outfit with the legs spread unless it works.
This character is on par with Victoria 9, Angela 8, Michael 9, so that's a big win. I really want the Megabundle in this case but will have to settle for buying the pieces on a piecemeal basis. I think I will go for that Battleship Lobster for starters. It's stupendous.
