Does Lawrence have those proportion settings like other G9 characters?
He does not. But you can use the Michael, or Ivar, or Nikolai proportion on him easily. Or even the Thimor one. Or other proportion scales. Or just change his scale. He can be any size you want him to be.
Had to do some customizations ;)
Thanks to the Vinme morphs, Vascularity, hands and feet from a character by Undead Crab Uncanny Valet (not from Daz), and a couple of my own morphs. :)
I think this character is my favorite so far.
Those hands and feet look great! Would you mind sharing a little bit about how you add in individual pieces of anatomy like hands and feet from another character? Or is that you've started with the Undead Crab character and dialed in Lawrence's head? Either way, very impressive. I want those hands!
Lawrence uses Angela's facial texture, with essentially no alteration. If you put Angela's texture on him, he doesn't really look any different.
That's what I was saying last week. But I paid less than $14 for him; so, I guess that's OK for a new head morph and a normals map.
The creator actually created the hands and feet each as separate morphs :) I'm thinking so that one could remove just them when using gloves or shoes so as not to distort them.
Yes, I know how to scale up and down a character. I also know that in real life (that other scene outside of Daz3d) humans have different heights. I'm almost 2 meters (6'6'') myself.
Another observation in real life is that, in Western Europe, people get taller.
Genesis 9 being shorter than previous generations is not realistic. Neither is unisex.
Oh, some much fun here... I leave you with this: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/07/why-some-nationalities-are-get-shorter-while-the-rest-get-taller/ and with something more personal: when I had my grad school Biology oral exams, one of the people on my commitee was the past advisor of my advisor. This scientist's wife was a sex researcher who studied the Guevedoces (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/09/22/the-mysterious-village-where-girls-turn-into-boys/). She told us about the futile attempt to create tests to determine gender at the Olympics. I knew someone who studied mosaics i.e. people are generally a mixture of cells that are either XX or XY since our growing zygotes gobble up other zygotes and every mother is colonized by fetal cells from both their daughters and sons (it may be a mediator of immune response to the fetus). So they first tried visual inspection in the 60's but a suprisingly large number of people are visually ambigious. They tried cheek scrapings in the 70's and 80's but that pesky mosaicism meant that it is pretty common for a given person to have a mixture of XY or XX cells in their cheeks as determined by Barr bodies. They currently use hormone levels which have the flaw of applying standards of the broad public to a population who as Olympic athletes by definition have bodies that don't fit the standards of the broad public.
This is kind of beside the point because (if I may say the forbidden), Daz characters aren't real. They have no mass, no bodily needs, and every attribute is arbitrary. "Realistic" is a moving target as every special effects person knows. The height of Genesis characters was artificially tall as they were designed to resemble athletes, models and heroes. Now they resemble everyone else. It is OK!
It is not ok for me.
And if that's all you were saying, none of us would have a problem with it, but you keep trying to claim that your preferences are based on "realism" or "biology", and you're wrong on both counts.
Thank you for those links. I am grateful I have a subscription to The Washington Post so I could read that one. It was fascinating and seems pertinent today.
For myself, I have no issue with the smaller height of G9, as others have pointed out there are sliders to deal with it if I so want to.
I love Lawrence 9 and I do not want to see this thread locked, so I ask that we keep the discussion to him and how to explore all his possibilities.

This discussion is moving into highly contentious areas, please desist.
Yeah, I said elsewhere that this kind of blatant reuse of Angela's texture (and remarkably SOON, given her release date) should bother me, but it really didn't. Maybe it's that the price I paid really was low enough for everything else that it seemed to balance out.
The only thing about his release that actually annoys me -- and frankly, not all that much -- is that there's something wrong with how his anatomical elements texture works. It's very clearly outlined on his body, which means that there's something off about it. That said, I'm not going to file a ticket on it -- I have one languishing and being ignored already, and this is the sort of thing I've dealt with Support with before, and it winds up being very aggravating. I've got ways to deal with it if I need to show him nude for whatever reason.
I was just reading the thread and saw mention of Lawrence using Angela's textures, I had a look, and I'm super struggling to see it? To me, they look quite different. Even looking at the maps alone they look pretty different. What's you guys's opinion? And if you think they have, what is it that makes you guys think they're the same textures?
It's easy enough to open the texture files in a free image editor and layer them over each other. Nothing is jumping out like mirroring, moving around parts, putting blemishes on top of matching pores, etc... hairline is different, tones are different throughout not just shifted but matching locations. I could be missing something as I only spent a few minutes, but it doesn't look much like they used the same base texture and painted over it to me.
It would be easier to tell if they were both applied to the same shape, size by side.
+1. I *think* what the tried to do was compare Angela face with Lawrence skin vs Angela skin in pic 1 vs 2 left side, but yeah, would have been easier if both skins on female shapes were in pic 1 and both skins on male face in pic 2. I do see a difference in the pics, but that was in two tabs side by side. Not optimal for comparing the skins.
Edit: on mobile and typing sucks. :)
Maybe this will help. Not quite simply side by side, but probably close enough. There are some fairly small differences -- tone, maybe a bit around the eyes, and Angela has a mole or something on her face that Lawrence doesn't, but it seems pretty clear that they used the same source. Click for larger if desired.
This was my thoughts as well, this was a test I ran but didn't want to post in case we aren't allowed. but to me, there's nothing that jumps out as "yep that's obviously the same patch"
ah, I think mobile is the issue with what I was trying to do. For me, I can open them in two different tabs on my desktop and then I was quickly clicking between the tabs, like a flicker show slide show type thing. if you do it that way you can look at different sections of the image and it highlights just how different the skins are, at least in my opinion.
I need to make a correction. Hands and feet were NOT Undead Crab, but by Uncanny Valet! I am SOOOO sorry Uncanny Valet, truly.
I'm glad you clarified. That character of Uncanny Valet's looks very very nice. And so cool the hands and feet are seperate.
I just realized today that I named the wrong vendor AND couldn't remember what thread I posted it in, so I just went back and looked at my last two male purchases ;). Really sorry for the confusion.
