I mean... her face is really androgynous. You can throw a mustache on her and make a really handsome guy from the old school Disney 2D cartoons.

    Ok?

I'm liking her quite a lot, although she's a bit toonish like Josie, as I've noted elsewhere already. But the morph seems to works nicely with other textures as well, and she just has such a cute way about her!

I'd like to see her sans oversized irises. Daz's 9 Core Figures are missing me more and more.

I don't like Maryam 9's wide-set eyes, but of course that's easy to change. Apart from that, she is really lovely and charming.

The idea of offering a Middle Eastern figure now is good, but also a bit macabre... I don't like the hair in the bundles at all, but the clothes are cool. I'm thinking of buying her, but unfortunately I don't need any more female figures at the moment. Maybe later.

I think she's adorable! And I like that she has distinctly middle eastern features. Unlike, say, Sahira who I didn't even clock as middle eastern until someone pointed out that her name is Arabic.

    She looks really sweet here.

Probably not for me (even though I'd love some realistic middle easten characters and materials) but keen to see some close-ups of her skin outside the promos

I'm not convinced to get her pro bundle right away, because her bonus shapes remind me of what came with Calypso 9, and I have Calypso 9. I love her face, it would mix well. I wish she would've looked less stylized.
  • I picked up the bundle mostly for the clothes (was looking for a Hijab outfit just the other day, now I have 3) and hairs. Maryam out of the box is definitely not my style, but the face I think will add nicely to mixes.  Default skin is very plain - attached a couple of quick renders of her alternate shapes, and here's one of her default shape with Victoria's skin, and a 60% Maryam/Mira mix with Mira's skin.

Thanks for posting. That mix with Mira does a better job selling her than anything on the store page.

Agreed. She is too toon looking and completely lacking in any details to even add her to the gene pool for me

  • She just looks too toony for me. I think it's her eyes that are the problem.

And too expensive despite the holiday rewards (35%) $54.14. No banner or specific reward...

  • She's adorable and the outfits are lovely
  • I think she looks great, but I do a lot of toon style stuff and I need a character like her for the film I'm doing right now. I want the alternate shapes too, and though the rest of the bundle looks great, I have no use for anything at this moment. I still have my DO coupon so I'll use that on her and hope they "unvault" her shapes later, which this whole concept is silly to me as I actively would give them money today for the alternate shapes.

She looks like a young Mila Kunis to me

  • The outfits look superb. The character, I can pass on. Little distinct in her features or skin, plus the toon eyes everyone mentioned. However, I'll give a shout out to the nose. While it's a bit plasticiney like the rest of her, I applaud the attempt to give her a nose that doesn't look like something a cosmetic surgeon dreamt up. Too many characters look the same because of their noses, which is actually the most distinguished feature on most real faces.

On the whole, feels like another Wang. Don't understand the point of using G9 for G3 fidelity. Second missed opportunity in a row for me.

  • I would get the bundle for the right price, because I can use the hair items and pieces from all of the clothes sets, but I'm doubting that anything about the character is going to be helpful for me. I am with others waiting to see some more renders outside of the promos.

  • I didn't get Maryam, but I did get one of the hijab outfits (Farah hijab). I already have some hijabs for G8, but this gives me something for G9. Plus, I like the dress -- it's flexible in terms of genre and setting. I could use it for fantasy or historical or contemporary. I had a friend in college who'd wear something similar!

I love the bundle and think she looks great, but it's odd they didn't offer much of a deal.

  • I'm luke warm about the character and the bundle; so without a much better deal it is a pass for me.

  • Still one of the worst releases and a hard pass.

  • I can agree with the comparison to Wang -- he was another character who was too toony for me but was supposed to be realistic.

Does anyone who bought Maryam have a render with her eyes adjusted to be not so giant? I do like her nose and the rest of her face. I really think it's the eyes that are making it too toon for me.

For anyone who has the Casual Hijab Outfit or the Modern Middle Eastern Outfit, how well do the hijabs work with shaders? The girls I know who wear hijabs often are very coordinated in terms of hijab + outfit, and I'd like to be able to use the hijabs with other stuff.

I like the toon alternate shape and makeup but don't really have use for anything else in the bundle but I'll probably get it some day on super sale and hope they unvault the toon version. If they sold the toon shape by itself I might have purchased it to try on other characters but I really have enough similar morphs.

I love the toon look of her. I saw her and I had to buy her. LOVE her.

  • These might be some of my favorite outfits in a G9 pro bundle since some of the launch ones. Can anyone confirm that dForce Modern Middle Eastern Outfit for Genesis 9 includes the scarf? From the add-on images it seems like it must, but doesn't seem to be listed in the description unless I'm missing something.

She's definitely a 'Toon, and a really nice one. I do like the character. I like the clothing in the bundle as well. It  all looks usable (and no high heels, or mysterious holes!). But so far I haven't actually used the G9 figures that I've got, and it costs more than I am willing to pay.

  • She is a cutie, but that being said is the only positive that comes to my mind right now (which could change later, I suppose). I would rather grab https://www.daz3d.com/koo-yaelle-hd-for-genesis-9 as a fantastic and unique Middle Eastern figure. On the other hand, if you're going for cutsey-toon, this one is a shoe-in. Although I still fail to see any eye popping details in her skin texture. Feels like a Gen 2 figure, with the overall appearance, to me.

  • I will likely pick up some of it one day, those outfits don't have to be Middle Eastern either, plenty of South East Asian people dress that way too especially OS students down here in Adelaide

The five countries with the largest Muslim populations are outside the Middle East, so if you need an Indonesian or Nigerian character, the bundle outfits work well for those too. The only member of the US Congres who wears a Hijab is from Somalia.

  • For the right price, I'd get the bundle for the hair and the outfits even if I never actually use the hijabs. It's the opposite of the Mira bundle situation; for me, I could see using elements of the Mira character, but had no use whatsoever for most of the stuff in her bundle.
