From the Premier page: Exclusive content, that "is active as long as Subscription is active". Great, rented content, just what I never wanted. Even assuming that it's content I'm interested in to begin with.

The same goes for the tools. Thanks for the offer, and I'm sure others will be interested.

Yeah, what does that mean, exactly? "Access exclusive Premier Only content - available for the duration of your subscription." Available for download while you have the subscription? Or you can't use it anymore without a subscription? If it is downloaded content, how can it be disabled, unless there is some "phone home" function? Or is this exclusive content in the form of some enhanced Studio abilities? This should be clearly stated, not vague promises. Sounds like the Season Pass all over again.

we KNOW more than 50% of the stuff is now subpar since you raked in Rendo.

and OMG you HAD to bring on Touchables...be prepaired for lots of chargebacks.

Thirdly, and this is moreso site related. But I think the recent changes messed something up, because I can't see if my current subscription is on auto renewel. Anyone know where that piece of info went?

It should still be there (I can't check, I cancelled auto-renew a long time ago), the previously used page to manage our subscription and find the coupons: https://www.daz3d.com/subscription

Thanks, no idea why it isn't shown on the new memberships layout, its pretty important information to have

Well hopefully someone will read these questions and give us some clarification about what we get for a substantial sum of money. Because I don't feel I can make the decision at the moment. I have to do some real work now, and hopefully when I check back, I will understand exactly what over $200 every year forever gets me.

Daz, if this is another hair-brained response to AI, it's the wrong direction.

Before this change I had  DAZ+ until November of 2025. the "upgrade" only gives me two months of the new thing... How are you getting that 2 months is a fair exchange? And the person with 4.5 YEARS only rates 8 months? I think someone needs to go back to school for math. This is looking like yet another thing that is great for new customers but utter trash for people who have been around for years and years, like me.

I was a Daz + member until 2026 or later but now, I seerm to be a DAZ base member. Where is my existing membership?

Look for an orange banner to address your existing membership options, or check your Messages inbox on DAZ.

Edit: I would imagine a third option is to just let your existing DAZ+ subscription expire and then become a DAZ Base member.

Which is literal YEARS for some of us.

Have noticed that if you got the top tier sub you get a different version of Daz Studio in Daz Studio Premier. So looks like Daz have returned to the old tiered software system one free and one paid for with extra features. And the issue is that if your Premier sub expires so does your access to the Premier version of Daz Studio.

The expiration is a real problem.

And to check that you really are a premier member, DS need to be permanently connected to internet. A definite no-no for me.

So... We have to pay 300$ per year in order to use three 50$ "buy-once" plugins? frown

Also, I guess this means the end of any rollback to a previous working version when you guys make colossal disasters, like the absurdly broken timeline or the constant crashing while rendering.

And something tells me that the Render Queue doesn't render directly to video or image sequences, only still images.

    No, definitely nothing interesting here.

  • Looks like they are testing the water by making a paid for version of Daz studio, i can fully see that updates in the future will be behind their monthly membership scheme, which is not a good idea, Daz Studio premier feels like a G9 upgrade, nothing new, it's cosmetic at best, and nearly $19 per month.... wtf... glad im learning blender.

If you pay for Daz premier and then cancel it, do you get to keep using DazStudio premier? i bet not...

I started my own thread, but you beat me to posting by 5 minutes, so moving the text of my post over since you know Richard will have shoved them all together by morning...

So, at $18.98 a month, that's $227.76 a year and no way mentioned to get that at a lower price, versus Prime which renews at $70.00 a year with multiple options to get the renewall for much less.  Looking at the supposed benefits... I'm not seeing a great appeal, especially since most of the things that are being offered as promos like the Gen 9 base units and, apparently, a good portion of the monthly bundles, are things that have been out forever and which a lot of the target consumer is likely to already have.  So, exactly what is it that we'd be paying four times as much for...?  DAZ needs to demote the person who put the promo together as it really doesn't make Premiere sound like much of a benefit.

Apart from the content, which as you say many of the target group already own much of; certainly the older stuff, all I see is a $20/month rental of software features. Not appealing.

Especially when it's a rental of features that are already available as a free program.

Depends on what they remove from the free version of Daz Studio. I remember when before Daz Studio went free, you had three version of the program, you had Basic (was free), Advanced and Pro versions of Daz Studio. With this new sub tier that Daz have added, they have gone back to that old tiered system, only this time you can't buy the Premier Version outright only rent the new features.

As an Australian, the conversion rates are what's going to kill me. With what looks like no ability for a yearly subscription, US$9.99 a month is going to kill me financially. That might only be a rise of $4ish but for my limited income that means even less money spent here. I'm a pensioner hobbyist and this is my escape for being housebound but it's looking like this isn't going to be a haven for me for much longer and after 21 years, that bites.

I do hope the loss of the 8 months I still have is just a glitch due to the updates.

yeah a one off a year $70 US can work out out plan for but the might as well say $20 a month US which in our Australian $s around $30+ is most of what I use to buy here depending on bills extra makes it difficult for me too have enough ongoing payments in other stuff as is

Like most of the other people in this thread I am not exactly bowled over by the latest price tier, in particular by the rather stingy upgrade offer. I am paid up until May 2026, and so my 18 months left is worth 180 USD for which I get just 2 free premier months worth 38 USD, not a great offer.

I tend to use both my coupons every month, so the additional 8 USD saved would largely pay for the extra 9 dollars of the premier tier. As such I will likely switch, but not until May 2026 unless they come up with a better upgrade offer.

As others have pointed out, DAZ Studio premier just looks like standard premier with some PA tools bundled in, all of which I already own, so no real incentive to switch. A free bundle a month sounds OK, but a lot of bundles only have 1 or 2 items I would use, so again, not that much of an incentive.

Can not say the latest sale excites me either, I am glad I spent most of my budget on the PA sale. A bit disappointing that this is the DAZ+/Premier sale, and no category sales or BYOB sales. I am guessing that this new PC+ item https://www.daz3d.com/toisiinsa is part of the sale, but there is no mention of it on the main sale page.

I'm not. Still shows that I'm base membership only and when I click my "personalized" offer it shows none because it shows me as a base membership when I'm paid up till April.

I would also point out that (almost) nobody paid $70 per year. We all bought it when it was half price. There's no yearly option, so no scope to offer anything like that.

And there simply isn't enough information on offer here to make a decision on whether the software is worth the money. The focus is all on the various offers you get, but even there, the information is scant.

But Daz does seem to read what we write here, and I'm sure if they realise there are people not upgrading due to lack of information, they will fill in the gaps.

Errmm .. to anybody at Daz Towers who might be reading : any word on Daz 5 that was promised or have we given up on that to chase NFTs and AI that nobody wants and new membership deals that don't seem to offer anything? Asking for a friend.

My Offer is to exchange my 9 months of Daz+ I have left for 3 months of Premier .. so $89.91 of Daz+ (at the new $9.99) for $56.94 of Daz Premier.

    Do they think we're stupid?

Quite a few years ago Daz Studio was a pay for program well the Advanced and Pro versions were, but you could buy it ouitright. Then after a while they made the software free for reasons I don't think anyone but Daz knows. With this looks Daz are following in the footsteps of many companies that are making folks pay a sub to have access to a more feature rich version of their software.

It will be very interesting to see how this works out. Either way I am not going for the top end, don't have that sort of money since the AUD / USD exchange rate is not that great.

My Daz+ has been hosed as well. This might be the end of the road for me and Daz....

  • One thing that is disappointing about this is the removal of yearly option. As other Australians have said - it is costly.

The Premier monthly cost works out at around $26 per month and around $335 oer year (based on the exchange rate). I'm undecided on what I'll do at the moment, as I still have eight months left on Daz+

Just looking at the Daz Premier page ...

    • FREE Character Bundle monthly

    • FREE Legacy content weekly and monthly

There's character bundles on the store today .. 4 guys (not interested) .. 1 lion (not interested) .. A Pixie (not interested) .. Tara 9 (already got) ... So where's my value? Where's my FREE Character Bundle?

And I have no interest in Legacy content .. I've either already got it .. or already decided I didn't want when it was new ..

So what's the point of this?

so we get a new member subscription option today Daz Premier $18.98 month works out $227.76 a year

Not only that: The Daz+ membership was converted into a subscription (without any prior information), which is supposed to cost $9.99 per month - i.e. $119.88 per year. Nowhere have I seen any indication of whether and how any money already paid for the membership will be credited or refunded. But maybe I haven't read everything yet because I'm so angry about this high-handedness.

  • Personally, I'm only really interested in the Geometry Sculptor which doesn't seem to be the same as Mesh Grabber as I think some people are saying. I do jump a lot to Blender to make "squishy" morphs for scenes because Mesh Grabber isn't really for that and I don't like the results you get with smoothing modifier, not to mention you probably will need to render it twice and merge it in postwork because smoothing modifier kills the details on the characters, so I think it would save me a bunch of time. Problem is... I'm not very optimistic about how well that geometry sculptor will actually perform considering using any geometry tool in Daz is a slog unless you have everything in base resolution and hide a bunch of stuff. Also, to be honest, I think they should include the HD tool with Premier, considering how much they want to push G9 which is extremely dependent on that and on how expensive Premier is. The rest is not that eyecatching for that price.

  • namffuaknamffuak Posts: 4,154

I need to think about this for a while - for starters, my main render system does not currently have internet access. Then there's the matter that I've not managed to use my PC+ coupons for the most part -- I have too much content already, I've picked clean everything I want that's more than a year old, and I don't need/use characters that much, to the extent I no longer even buy the PC+ ultra-low-cost characters.

Maybe the offer is based on how much everyone paid for their current Daz+ subscription ?

I got two months. I ain't going to anything at the moment - as I'll probably let it expire. I'll decide next year. I have other things that are more important to me.
