My offer is to exchage 18 months for 4 months. So I'm not sure how that's fair in the context of someone else getting 3 months for 9 months. Which in itself seems pretty unfair.
Edit: Then again, someone with more than me gets less upgrade! IMO this is completely ridicolous. If the target market are the power users, they are likely to be on here and reading what they all got, and comparing notes. Feels like a PR disaster...
I'd like to see some transparency on how this is calculated. I don't want to upgrade as I don't know what I"m going to get (see other posts) and I don't think the deal I'm being offered is fair.
At least you got offered 3 for 9 I got offered 2 for 13.
Same here not interested in doing the whole rent software thing. And with Daz taking this route, I shudder to think what they plan on doing to Daz Studio 5 if and when it ever gets released.
That shouldn't matter what should matter is the value that you currently have not what you paid for it.
Access to content while in Premiere is a non-starter. Ain't no way I want to create a piece of art where I don't own all the components.
But more important, I wouldn't want to do this by mistake. How would I remember a year later that I don't own that asset I got because I "bought" it with Premiere
That's a hard pass.
I'm a whale. I've spent far too much money in less than 2 months on the shop. Looks like that will end.
Might have already been asked a 100 times, but still I don't get it.
I am currently at DAZ+ which is now $9,99/month. My DAZ+ subscription is already paid for until 2025-10-15.
If I upgrade to Premier I'm said to get 2 months towards my Premier subscription.
Now what does that mean?
Do I get October and November Premier for free and have then to pay the $19/month from December?
Does not sound that good because counting towards October 2025 that would mean some 11 months for $19 which equals $209.
If I would have to only pay for the delta ($9) for 13 months ($117) until my DAZ+ subscription runs, that would be way cheaper.
I think it's just random .. I might log out and then log back on and see if I get a different offer ...
That's plausible. I've tended to buy when it's cheap, which means I might not have paid much. If that is the case, it would be good to see the calculation. Transparency...
To anyone at Daz reading this, can we get more information on the geometry sculptor please? That is the only thing that interest me in the software, and I need to know what it offers compared to Mesh Grabber and making morphs in Blender. And whether it would permit edting the HD mesh? Or moving strand-based hair.
There is a video on https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-premier
It's a bit hidden by the text, but you can get its URL looking at the code source of the page. As far as I can see, it only shows sculpting done at base resolution.
I for one will let my Daz+ run out, it's 2 years away and hope they continue to upgrade/fix the free Studio. My concern is the free version, which I have the Pro version of will not be updated and new content will be for the premier version only. It does remind me of all the software that was paid for outright and now is a subscription only offer.
As I posted previously, my Membership management tile in my account shows the Daz+ subscription and the 2026 October expiry date. The info on the premer page did say the + subscriptions would continue until expired. To me that means, I don't have to do anything.
As a predominately Carrara user, I also now use Bryce more than DAZ Studio, I am finding it hard to justify what will be about $7 Australian per week on Rentware.
More details are needed on exactly what it can do for me to make a choice about it positively.
...agh, too late to digest all of this right now (almost 02:45 where I am) Need to be more wide awake to plough through all this.
My current Daz+ membership is good until 07-05-2025 so I should be OK. However this sounds like a serious price jump with no more annual option anymore (form what I understand the new monthly only payments comes to 50$ more per year for the same benefits I am currently getting).
"Basic" (non Daz) members get screwed as they now have to spend 15$ to get a token instead of 10$.like it has been.
When I first came here 16 years ago it felt like a family here, Now it's becoming more cold and corporate.
Being on a fixed pension I will stay on my current Daz+ plan until it expires next summer, then it's "buh-bye"/
Oh and they changed the entire dashboard page as well.
Yep, just one problem though. The "Auto-Renew Subscription" tick box has vanished from the membership page.
So I can't stop the auto-renwal myself.
Just some quick questions... When my DAZ+ subscription will expire, I'll be forced to this Premier Non-sense?
Also, I guess right when I think this will need a constant internet connection in order to work?
+1!
Well, once it expires, this is goodbye sub. Without a yearly option, I'm not even looking at this.
Thanks! Actually, even at base resoltion, it could be useful for fine-tuning, certainly an improvement over my current workflow. But $19 per month...
(I think for the most part, you don't want HD but sometimes you need a little more precision. Without it, there are things in my pictures that stand out to me as being unrealistic.)
This ‘personalised’ offer seems to be the same for everyone. I was also offered the three-month ‘Premier’ subscription in exchange for 18 months of Daz+. Otherwise, I can only choose the Daz+ subscription. Cancelling my Daz+ membership immediately and refunding the amount I've already paid on a pro rata basis is not an option.
Is yearly renewal and yearly pricing of Daz+ gone? Guess I'll let that expire.
I wonder how many whales they'll lose to this.
I got four months in exchange for 18, so there is a calculation somewhere. Speculation is it's based on what we paid, but it's frustrating not to know.
On the scupting, Blender, and of course other applications, have many, many sculpting tools, but the drawback of having to faff about with morphs. What tools does the inbuilt option have? And does it support symmetry? Questions, questions, questions...
Realistically, Daz doesn't have the same resources as Blender, so I wouldn't expect the same feature set. But with the right tools, the ease of use factor (not having to hide everything, change resolution / export / import) might win out, but knowing what the brushes are would be a start.
Access exclusive Premier Only content - available for the duration of your subscription
I don't understand how this works. "Hey thanks for hiring me. Some of the content I used for your project requires a monthly subscription. Hope that's okay?"
Should not matter what we paid, should matter what value we currently have.
I let my Daz+ subscription expire a few years back as I did not deem it to be of sufficient value to me. I do not see this new subscription model being of any more use at all, especially as I am pinned to using DS 4.21.0.5
I was assuming this applied to the software features, not the content, but this does indeed say "content".
I'm actually shocked at how little information there is. It feels rushed. I haven't even looked at the new releases because I've spent the time trying to work all this out! And I think the answer is that nobody knows...
If it conspires that it IS based on what you paid, that would be very disingenuous.
The purchased product was 12 months Daz+ access. The sale discount Daz chose to sell at is irrelevant. The product has a set value that is the same for everyone, regardless of the price they paid.
The fact that we can't do a simple calculation of (X months of Daz+) = (Y months of Premier) makes it smell a bit suspect.
That could be true - my annual membership for 2025/2026 and the current one were quite reasonably priced. Nevertheless, the whole procedure is absolutely non-transparent.
The other thing I notice is the "common discount" during these sales was 65% yesterday. Today the common percentage is 60%. Guess that means the little extra Premiere discount is really just the old Daz+ discount.
I'm not sure what the "Keep plan" button does, maybe it's the auto subscribe/renew, but I'm not game to click it. Not enough informtion yet to take any action at all.I don't use any auto renew options as the auto renew are usually not the best offer that can be obtained for any product.
I'm noticing that they have worked with ManFriday and his/her plugins. They are great, I own some of his/her stuff... But I also noticed they completely ignored animations once again...
No new tweener, no evident support for queued images series or videos, no clear improvement in the timeline, no trace of any improvements in that direction...
Another slap on the face of serious animators.
