Right!? I'd love a sale advertised as "Super Serious One Time Only! Not Coming Back! No Twosies or Catch Ups!"
I sort of love catch up sales, especially during the big sales. Then the wider variety coupled with big discounts make me happy to spend a bit when I might otherwise have sat out. Also, it's become evident that Daz marketing favors the people who sit on their hands a while.
...ketchup sale but with a "catch"..
No thanks
Yeah I'm divided on the whole thing. If I see a release I love I'll dump my tokens and take advantage of the sale as much as possible, and I'll see later on a better deal on that product, but usually a lot later. Normally it's not that bad, I just notice it.
I don't have a problem with catch up sales because yeah, I missed it- I really did- and like to have another chance. Three items in my cart now, and might add more.
We have some really cool items-I broke down and got the Filatoon texture bundle and Filatoon skies by KindredArts. I wasn't disappointed, but wasn't planning on spending today.
Note-I know it's not really part of the catch up sale but it's still going on
The way things have been going, it would be followed two weeks later by the "In Case You Missed It Catch Up On The One Time Sale! This Is The Last Time! Seriously! Sale"
Haha! In all fairness, and as funny as it can be, I like the idea that there's an opportunity to revisit some good sales in the event your budget doesn't allow for you to splurge on a given date.
I would mind them less if they weren't so stinking frequent. Like, once a month, maybe. When they're weekly (or nearly that) it feels like there hasn't been enough regular sale to have enough to catch up from.
But I admit I must be an outlier... clearly it's working for Daz or they (presumably) wouldn't keep doing it.
Also, I admit I'm feeling a little curmudgeonly because there are several things on my WL that have gotten a priority bump due to some cool new render ideas, and none of them are affordable at the moment... meanwhile, apparently there are great deals for catching up on all the stuff I wasn't even vaguely interested in when it debuted. And it's nearly 2/3 of the way through the month with my $6/$18 coupon just dangling there again, and going to go unused unless something changes.
And also it's like -22 F with the windchill right now, and Monday the high base temp is -7F, but -32 with windchill. 64 degrees below the point that water freezes... as a high. I'm kinda over everything right now. :P
Thanks to this sale, I've gotten another chance to get some Aeon Soul sets. Normally I would have to wait almost a year before they would be affordable to me. They're among my favorite PAs (really wish they would do a new version of their Whymsy set).
I can understand this. I've felt pressed to use my coupons on occasion while things have been on my WL forever. And of course there's the other stuff outside of my DAZ world that's happening (the southern end of my state burning up, for example).
There's two gift card deals stacking right now, the one from the promo with 20% off entire order and the one from today. Just sayin' ...
Yeah i completely understand. The frequency of the catch-ups can decentivize acting quickly on a current promotion. Oh and I if I were in that kind of freezing temperature I would not be happy either!
When the devil saw my empty pockets she gave up tempting me.
Everything should be fixed now
One can get the GC down by 35% by stacking, but one of these - the 20% - needs three new items as buying, for some $20. If you WANT them that may be an option, but otherwise you need some big GC to make it a payoff.
Not for me today :-/
Yeah, the buy-in was big, and while I like what I got, I usually would have bought the stuff at a bit lower prices. But seeing that euro and dollar are currently shifting via-a-vis each other in a very unfavorable way for me, I figured I'd buy one bigger GC while the rate is still halfway decent, and then hope for it to last a good while. And with that, it all worked out for me.
Sounds really nice... until one comes to the point where one notices that both "deals" work only with a buy-in of items one doesn't ever need to prices that make the 10% and 20% for the GC meaningless. Just sayin'...
It depends. For a small budget gift card, it may not be worth it. But if you buy an expensive GC and have tokens to spend, a gift card with a 35% discount is a good deal, even if the buy-ins may not interest you.
