...well, dry here for a couple more days before everything changes. Slow cooldown to below normal temps beginning on Friday through all of next week with water from the sky on now and then.

Tv iz saying wind is strong enough to rip electricity pylons out of the ground.

    your wind from south pole?

    think ours from Canada

Is local, you can see the eye in the photo think that makes it not a tropical cyclone, more of a local hurricane, 2 x gale force winds + anyhow

I thought they were the same thing, just in different oceans.  The tighter the eye gets, the stronger the winds around the center.  Sort of like when an ice skater spins with arms out, then brings them in to the chest and spins even faster.  They spin in a different direction in the southern hemisphere?

    Dana

Don't know. Iz Tornadoes and lightning that are doing all the damage, and a 4 meter swell along the coast so don't really know what to call it

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/typhoon-hurricane-cyclone-heres-the-difference/

Ah, so I was right...even about the rotation being opposite in the southern hemishpere!

...hmm a hurricane but with cold winds. Doesn't sound good at all.  Dealt with a Nor'easter once, wasn't fun at all.

We get those a lot in New England!

Stop blaming Canada for everything... They give us maple syrup and thick bacon... They can send a little wind our way sometimes.

That ain't bacon, that's ham. smiley

  • I ordered a new wireless adapter from an online store.  Hopefully the current adapter won't disconnect while I watch tutorials for Look at My Hair.

Actually, (yes, I'm Canadian) it's not ham. Canadian bacon,or peameal bacon is a type of back bacon (you hosers wink) made from lean boneless pork loin, trimmed fine, wet cured, and rolled in cornmeal (the name is derived from the time the loin was rolled in dried pea meal). Its development is credited to a TorontoOntario, ham and bacon curer, William Davies, whose idea was taken on by emigrees from Wiltshire, England, who settled in Canada.

Ham, on the other hand, is from the hip/leg of the pig.

Bacon (even Canadian), ham, pork or any product of pigs are, by nature, not kosher. You can have "kosher" bacon, but it's likely turkey bacon.

Since meat and dairy cannot be mixed, this dish is automatically non-kosher. Someone was definitely jerking your chain.

    Kosher laws are rather interesting (even for a Gentile) and even practical. Some of the rules have been adopted into military survival instructions. A good, simple read for Kosher rules can be found at: http://www.koshercertification.org.uk/whatdoe.html ;

Normal books are made of dead trees.  However, I suspect that the, "The Monster Book of Monsters" is made from live trees. surprise  (along with bits and pieces of monsters)

Complaint:  OMG, my internet died for several hours today.  I thought I was going to panic.  I get Internet and all live music and TV entertainment via DSL over the phone lines but my phone was working perfectly.  After an hour I called and cried into the phone at the poor technician lady on the other end.  Then she verified that "yes, I see 100% packet loss.  We can get someone out there next Wednesday."  Arghhhhhhhhh....  crying  Then after I let go of the ceiling I dug out a book I've been meaning to finish reading.  After a couple chapters I washed dishes, stared blankly at the miserable day outside, cleaned my refrigerator, re-sorted my filing cabinets, and took a long nap.  In desperation I turned off & restarted all my computers and network equipment (for the 5th time today) and stared at my screen.  Lo and behold I had Google.  Yea, my friend Google was back.

So, fellow readers, you are NOT free of me for 6 days.  I'm baaackkk. devil

A Windows 10 update froze my system, three times. smiley

Not for long though.  When that wheel started rollling and rolling, I started cussing and cussing -- then I reset the system.

Just like you did. :-)  Still no update, but my God, if the thing won't take, it just won't take.

...got stuck in Wildwood NJ for an extra day after a kite festival there because of that one. All night the wind howled loudly and at times I expected the windows to come crashing in. The next morning when I looked out, not only had the beach disappeared underwater, but so did the parking lot across the street from my hotel (even with a normal high tide it was a good 150 yards to the surf line). Wind was still blowing though not quite as hard as during the night.  The front entrance to the hotel was heavily sandbagged looking almost like a picture of London during the blitz . We were totally cut off by road from the rest of the nation due to high water over many of the coastal highways. As it was the end of the tourist season, the hotel just gave us stuff to eat as well as even free beer (woo hoo!).  The next morning I was able to get a bus out though we had to take several detours to get to back to Philadelphia, as some roads were still closed.  Good thing I left earlier than planned as I barely made it to the airport in time for check-in with all the extra time it took.

  • On the topic of manuals I was finally able to download the PDF manual of Look At My Hair.  The browser or internet connect interrupted the download yesterday.
